- michael (9/5): Lovely house with handy location - Location was excellent for our needs to visit family and friends in locations nearby. House itself had everything we needed in a quiet neighbourhood. No internet throughout the week despite an attempt by the owners to remedy. Sadly to no avail which was an inconvenience.

- Oriel (9/5): - Loads of space. Warm and comfortable
- Karen (10/5): -
- Norman (10/5): Cosy cottage - Very comfortable for family of five, everything we needed was there. Located next to nice walks, easy walk to Melrose. Host was really helpful to us. Nothing
- Gwyn (10/5): -
- Fiona (10/5): I would recommend this place to stay has everything you need - Had everything we needed close to all the border towns and walks we wanted to do Neothing bad to say
- Beck Bolger (9/5): - A very spacious cottage with good size rooms. The main bathroom and ensuite were very clean, as was the kitchen. All essentials available from towels to dishwasher. The private garden was a little overgrown and untidy but a great space. Space in the drive for two cars. It was a really great place to stay. Highly recommend. No negatives for this cottage!
- Anne (10/5): Great cosy, clean comfy cottage. Would return - The cottage was easy to find with the directions provided. It was very homely, clean and comfortable. Great location, very central to places of interest Access to key lock was a little difficult but we did manage. Probably more our fault. Otherwise no complaints. Accommodation supplied with everything we needed
- Nancy (8/5): Very good -
- Kevin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Susan (10/5): Fabulous stay - property as described - Very comfortable, well equipped and spotlessly clean.
Lovely garden.
Fresh milk and biscuits provided was a lovely touch.
Hope to return Shrubbery at side of drive could be cut back a little to make getting into/out of car easier.
Not a major issue though and in no way detracted from a great property !!
- Big (8/5): Lovely weekend away - Quiet peaceful location. Enclosed garden great for dog. Close to towns for shops and restaurants. Nothing we didn't like but could maybe do with a few furniture upgrades.
- Aoife (9/5): Would recommend - Lovely cottage in a great location for exploring this part of the country. Well equipped kitchen, and spacious living area. Nothing
- Bruce (9/5): Highly recommended - The cleanliness and the location. Very quiet area and very accessible for all the Borders' towns. Great dog walks from the house. We will definitely return! We were there during some very hot weather and would have liked to spend time in the lovely garden. However there was no garden furniture. It was also advertised as having a BBQ but we couldn't find it. Small things that will not stop us returning.
- Richard (8/5): Scotish borders - The location and ability to get around including public transport excellent. The house and facilities were good and comfortable. Heating and smart TV excellent. This is a great location to see the borders and get to Edinburgh. On using the stick vacumn to assist in cleaning up, it was totally blocked with dog hairs. Some minor maintenance issues also, however, these did not distract from our stay, which was good. For a weeks stay, the small fridge size just had to be managed.
- Stephen (9/5): Superb - Clean, spacious, lots of facilities with a high chair and travel cot. Private driveway parking, quiet area, little park nearby for the little one, dog friendly, large private garden with a small outhouse to sit. Squeaky doors in master bedroom made it difficult to use the bathroom without disturbing others.
- Stewart (9/5): Superb - It's a lovely house and garden. Very clean, very quiet
- Julie (8/5): Spacious, comfortable bungalow in great location , lovely views and walks from door - Quiet area of Darnick , handy location for Melrose and walks ,lovely garden for dogs , spacious , ideal for 4 people and 2 dogs , clean . The double bed was found too soft for elderly parents.
Would be helpful to have little dressing table or small table for things in twin room , move Mirror as in awkward place . Ideally hooks and shelf in main bathroom . Hooks for coats in hall . Also a bigger pan in kitchen as when cooked for group the pans there were too small .
Just small things but otherwise house is great .
Just a point that steps at front of property have handles , but high threshold trim to step over did catch feet sometime, not sure if could lower . Rear steps to garden had anti slip matting to reduce slip hazards which was good .
- Stewart (9/5): Superb -
- Rachel (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing location, lots of great walking and places to visit. Accommodation was extremely clean and comfortable.
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sheila (10/5): A little gem in the Scottish Borders - Beautiful peaceful location, 5 minutes from the train to Edinburgh. Immaculate and set in a very private garden with trees, flowers, squirrels and birds perfect for tai chi . The summer house perfect for meditation. Dining for 6 and all mod cons. WiFi provided and information pack contained everything about local historical sites as well as tourist attractions. My Norwegian friends first visit to Scotland and she wanted to live in Shunters Cottage.
- Angela (10/5): Very comfortable - So many additional extras, home from home N/a
- Jeanie (10/5): Lovely and peaceful, and so quiet, it was lovely watching the birds and Squirrels. - The bungalow was really spacious and comfortable. Everything we needed was there. the bungalow was very clean, the garden was beautiful. the town of Melrose was handy also Galashiels for a larger shop if needed. The only problem we found was the bedrooms were very dark as the trees covered the windows.
- Norman (9/5): Superb -
- Anthony (9/5): Superb - Pleasant bungalow with nice back garden. Quiet street with easy parking. Two bathrooms.
- Mark (10/5): We found Shunters Cottage an excellent place to stay while visiting family in Galadhiels and Lauder. - Everything. Especially the back garden. Bed was a bit short, but I'm quite tall, so that's to be expected.
We didn't get to meet the hosts, but, again, that's to be expected these days.
- Lorna (10/5): Will certainly book again - The cottage was absolutely perfect for us
The facilities were excellent and the summer house was lovely to sit in with a glass of wine There was nothing to dislike
- Jürgen (9/5): Superb -
- Bradley (9/5): Superb -
- Stewart (9/5): Superb -
- William (9/5): A great week in such a loveable cottage. We will definitely return - We have travelled to the Melrose area for some years now and Shunters Cottage is perfectly positioned on the edge of Darnick, whether for a comfortable stroll into Melrose with shops, cafes and history aplenty, or a choice of many amazing walks in the surrounding countryside.
The cottage itself is well equipped, spacious, and a right home from home, with a lovely, enclosed back garden affording direct access via a gate, to a nice area of community woodland which our 3yrs old airedale terrier Angus just loved. Unless I had to be ultra critical and fussy - not a single thing! There were 2 very minor issues, both of which were promptly addressed by the hosts, to our total satisfaction, and neither of which detracted from the quality of the cottage nor the enjoyment of our stay.
- Gary (9/5): Very helpful and excellent place to stay - Great communication and very helpful. The cottage has everything you need when your away from home and not far from local shops etc. Would definitely stay again if we are in the area
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jon (9/5): Good location for us, quiet, warm, comfortable and plenty of room for five. - We loved the quiet location, handy for the small shops in Melrose and the bigger ones in Galashiels. We were very comfortable in the cottage and there was a Dishwasher which we were not expecting. The Weather
- Michelle (10/5): Exceptional - Overall was a lovely cottage home from home all you need and more for your stay. Lovely and cosy lovely garden and the birds to watch great will be back for another stay . Host was lovely when I rang her very helpful.cant wait to return again Nothing
- Martin (10/5): A perfect cottage - A fabulous place for our family holiday. The cottage is larger than the pictures seem to indicate. It was in perfect condition, everything we needed was there. Very close to Melrose and Galashields visitor attractions and the Tweed. The railway station isn't far away so we had comfortable access to Edinburgh and the Fringe. Nothing
- Julie (8/5): A comfortable stay in a lovely area. - It was a lovely, spacious home in a quiet area with access to good dog walking and shopping areas. The kitchen had plenty of appliances, pots, utensils etc. The living room was lovely and comfortable with a view of the Eildon hills. And, two excellent modern bathrooms. The access to the enclosed back garden was via a set of somewhat steep steps. There is a large apple tree in the garden/patio area, given the time of year, there were fresh fallen (and not so fresh fallen) apples covering a reasonable area of the garden and patio area.
- Elizabeth (10/5): A memorable, comfortable stay - We loved everything! The cottage is a generous size, well-appointed and tastefully decorated - comfort and every convenience had been given consideration. We got a warm welcome; the cottage is in a historic area, lovely community woodland beyond the colourful garden and access to rural walks (and long trails such as the Abbeys Borders Way and the Southern Uplands way). Near to the station and to Melrose and Abbotsford. Highly recommended. There was nothing we could find fault with.
