Guest Reviews
- Stuart and Michelle (9/5): -
- Nancye (10/5): Historical cottage with all the mod cons within walking distance of Salamanca Place. - Location is exceptionally convenient and picturesque. The house has room for 6 couples (3 large beds, 2 bathrooms) and appears to be all decked out for babies too (cot, tub, etc). It was just like walking into, and staying in, someone’s well maintained home for the weekend. Extremely welcoming and comfortable. Delightful hosts who bent over backwards to make our stay the best.
- Angela (5/5): This is in a wonderful location, but the property is in some need of serious maintance. The caretaker is lovely and acc - The location is absolutely beautiful. The street and surrounding builds are gorgeous, you can walk to anywhere, the living room was nice and spacious, the caretaker was absolutely lovely we met her and she kindly left Easter eggs and lots of supplies, the fruit platter was wonderful. The little courtyard/garden was sweet, it would be lovely to have a little lounge out there. Unfortunately there were a few things that made our stay uncomfortable the first was, there is an awful smell coming from the largest bath room, you might call this the ensuite, and the door for this bathroom gets stuck and can not slide open and closed easily, the smell drifts through what is the only entrance, (walk in wardrobe) and then into the main bedroom which has no windows. I am not sure if it's the smell of mould, we think it is more like a blocked pipe or plumbing smell. So we needed to keep the wardrobe door closed, and move our things into the bedroom. But when we would get home from a day out the smell would almost knock us over! This toilet, sometimes takes about 6 flushes to get everything down, and the shower is very slow to drain. This made sleeping in that room pretty yucky..
The other main issue is, you cannot open a single window in the house. So it feels really stuffy with that stale air, we ended up sleeping with the back door wide open and then having to open the front door in the morning to let fresh air through.
The aircon in the living area is currently needing to be turned on and off via the mains switch in the linen press which we were informed about, and didn't bother us.. but it is so noisy and has a clunky fan, so we didn't run it.
The second bathroom was not smelly which was good, but the shower in there is super tiny, that bathroom is really a laundry, so if you are a larger person which thankfully we are not, you would have problems. For us it was a squish.
I am not sure one of out towels was clean as it smelled strongly of ladies perfume and was soft to touch.. lucky we had one of our own

- jane (9/5): Perfect property to explore Hobart & start the 3 Capes walkway - Location was excellent. Three comfortable double rooms. Two bathrooms. All the extras were in the pantry for cooking. A perfect house for our group of 5. Very kindly we were also able to leave luggage behind while we walked the 3 capes.
- Patricia (10/5): Gorgeous colonial cottage. - This charming cottage was very comfortable, in a beautiful area, and spotlessly clean. The owners provided a generous fruit platter, which was much enjoyed and appreciated, plus numerous other provisions. We loved the proximity to cafes and most of all, the beautiful cottages and roses which make Battery Point so appealing. We had a few stumbles on the step in the hallway.

- Stephanie (10/5): Exceptional - Location was fantastic, such a beautiful area- everything that your fingertips.
- Nikki (10/5): Lovely place to settle & relax while exploring everything Hobart has to offer. Walking distance to restaurants, wat - Proximity, location. Felt homely. Well appointed kitchen. Comfy beds. Fire place. Ample room to get settled. Back courtyard was gorgeous with the roses. The front garden was pretty. Off road car parking. Very small car park.
- Maxine (10/5): 1 minute walk Jackman & McRoss - Stunning miners cottage in heart of Battery Point. Well equipped house with the warmest welcoming touches that made everyone’s stay even more special. Thank you so much to the two beautiful hosts, Elle & Jordan, for everything extra they did upon our arrival :)
- Philip (6/5): Great location let down by poor maintenance and cleaning. - The location was very good. Beds comfortable. Cluttered house. Old used kitchen goods unnecessary and a complete cleanup of the residence including maintenance and removal of many unnecessary containers of cleaning goods and condiments and freezer items would improve impressions greatly. Fixing or replacing the dishwasher should be a high priority and tying up shower head and towel drying racks with material strips is second rate. Main bedroom no windows.
Very small car park space and only free on street parking is from 6.00 pm to 8.00 am.
- Apartments (7/5): Waterloo Cottage - great spot in Battery Point, but a few things need improvement - The location of Waterloo Cottage was perfect. The back courtyard was very pretty. The fruit platter on arrival was appreciated. Was surprised to find the cupboards and fridge full of food items, most of which were half used. We had to empty out quite a few of the items in the fridge and freezer to make space for our own things. The cleanliness could definitely be improved, the microwave and stove top were both quite dirty. The dishwasher was broken for the entire 6 days of our stay, the owner had left a note explaining that they were waiting on a part. The heated towel rail fell off the wall in one bathroom, and the washing machine in the second bathroom was overflowing with soap scum. The listing advertises an onsite car park, but please be aware that if your vehicle is any larger than a compact car, you will not be able to park in the space allocated. We had a medium size 4WD, and therefore we had to park on the street and be vigilant about a possible ticket. Lastly, it appears that the owner stays in a small, converted shed in the back yard. Had we known this, we would definitely not have chosen to stay there. While we certainly did not 'party', it was disconcerting to think that we were being monitored! We could see the TV in the backyard shed flickering every night so assume someone was in there. Assume the owner lives in the house most of the time and when a booking is received, moves into the shed.

- Kelly-anne (10/5): Waterloo cottage was the perfect place to explore Hobart. - Waterloo cottage was the perfect place to explore Hobart. The location was incredible with a short walk to Salamanca Place district. Built in the 1850’s, the cottages rich history added another layer to our stay. Elle and Jordan were wonderful hosts with great recommendations and easy communication.
- Diane (9/5): Thank you Karen for a great central place to stay in Hobart. - Great location
Tea/coffee supplies plentiful
- Christian (10/5): Exceptional - The Cottage easily slept my family of six, was clean and tidy, well fitted out, and wonderfully spacious. The hosts were generous and the location of the Cottage close to restaurants, shops and the markets. We were only disappointed that we could not stay longer. We highly recommend the Cottage.
- Suzy (9/5): Superb - We loved the house, very comfortable.
We loved the welcoming platter, wine & Chocolates on arrival. The car space was great so we never had to worry about parking.
Location was amazing. Some hanging space in 3rd bedroom would have been good even though the other 2 bedrooms had plenty.
A barbecue would have been great especially with such a lovely outdoor area available.
- Garrison (9/5): Superb - Proximity to good area
- Kelsi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vicki (10/5): We loved our stay at Waterloo Cottage - Everything it is a beautiful cottage and the fruit and cheese platter and wine were added bonuses.
It's only a stone's throw from the Shipwrights Arms Hotel which was great for a drink with friendly locals and a meal. Nothing :)
- Laura (9/5): Superb -
- Loren (8/5): Hobart a great town and Battery Point superb historic area - Great location
- Abby (10/5): If you're planning a stay in Battery Point, consider this gorgeous cottage. Highly recommended. - Elle and Jordan were perfect hosts. They were very informative and quick to reply to questions. Their house is divine, in the best location in Hobart. So close to everything Battery Point has to offer. The house itself is so much bigger than it looks with 3 huge bedrooms and everything that you could need. The welcome note and welcome treats were much appreciated, such a lovely touch. Thank you. Loved everything
- Sharon (10/5): Fantastic - Excellent location. Pet friendly. Lovely accommodation.
- Helen (7/5): This is a lovely home in a great street, close to a wonderful Japanese restaurant and the fantastic Jackman and McRoss b - Beautiful historic house in a great location. A couple of the beds were a little low for our liking.
- Liz (9/5): A comfortable home with amazing hosts who communicated well. Lots of goodies on arrival. - Our hosts left the most amazing freshly cooked goodies. Such a warm homely welcome. The house is well appointed, very comfortable and warm. The tips from our hosts were spot on with regards to restaurants and cafes. It's in the perfect area for walking to Salamanca and the harbour. A beautiful quiet street. So pretty.
- Deseree (7/5): Good -
- Michelle (10/5): We loved our time in this comfortable, cosy, well located cottage. - This is a well laid out, comfortable property, in an excellent location. And the hosts are generous and attentive. We spent a week here with 2 adult children and had plenty of space for everyone to chill out. The fire was cosy, the beds comfortable and the kitchen made it easy to enjoy a few home prepped meals. There were a couple of small things requiring maintenance or repair - but nothing major.
- Jacquie (6/5): We were comfortable but for the price expected more - No breakfast so cannot rate
Although up hill handy to main restaurants and attractions Needs a thorough clean...edges of floors, under venetions
Only one towel.each for a week.was not enough
No Wifi was unexpected
The shower is very small and the placement of the internal shelf added to.this issue
- Stephen (9/5): Superb -
- Susan (9/5): Perfect location in a charming cottage in an historic suburb. - Excellent location, within walking distance of many Hobart attractions, local eateries and coffee shops. The cottage is in a quiet street, and the bedrooms very spacious and comfortable. Two full aiEd bathrooms made it easy with 6 adults in our family group. There were many heating options so despite our mid-winter stay we were always warm. Communication with the owners was excellent. In reality, there’s nothing much to write here but one of the two shower cubicles is rather cramped.
- Ratthakarn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cristl (10/5): Brilliant house, fab location and some lovely treats left for us. Wonderful! - location, space, outdoor area. all good!
- Jenny (8/5): This is a great place to stay for a couple of adults or a small family - Location was excellent. A short walk to Salamanca Place & lots of nice cafes close by. Cottage was nice & roomy & mostly comfortable with good essentials. The loft bed needs to be repositioned by 90 degrees & provided with a bed head so visitors don't knock their head on the ceiling. The cottage lacked dish washing liquid in the kitchen & tissues in the bathroom. Paving outside needs a good clean. Paving paint would help with appearance.
- Kelvin (9/5): Superb -
- Barbara (9/5): very nice - location
- Deb (10/5): Gorgeous historic cottage in perfect location - Charming cottage, very comfortably furnished. We absolutely loved staying here and being able to easily walk anywhere. Hosts left a lovely welcome pack of local food and drinks which was such a great surprise and so appreciated! Nothing really - except possibly we couldn’t unlock the windows or find the stated air conditioning or a fan so a tiny bit hot overnight. But that would not be a problem in Hobart most of the time.
