Guest Reviews
- Andrew (6/5): Mountain Cottage (Bothy) - We had a fabulous stay for a long weekend in October, at this rough around the edges luxury accommodation. For the price we would have expected a nice welcome basket like other properties would of offered us, instead we got great with instructions to check the electric meter and replace the wood we used.
After graduating from Bletchley park and finally figuring out that the WiFi code wasn't correct we settled down to a night with a cosy fire lit with one of the remaining 3 matches and a single fire lighter.
A movie would be nice we thought cosy in front of the fire on this autumn cool evening, then with the help from the enigma code breaking machine, for the first time may I add(since router replaced?), I was able to connect the TV to the WiFi (the password in the information book & on the back of the router are both incorrect). But don't we dismayed, we got it connected thanks to Alan Turing.
Both Prime and Netflix are locked out, thanks Tessa.
The next day we embarked on a mountain adventure and woundered aimlessly yearning to return for a warm shower and a hot cup of tea. It turned out it was the only hot shower we would have, apparently mountain water is really hard to heat.
After dodging the mouse poison and bypassing the singular teabag we settle for a nice glass of wine in some very nice glasses (not all cottages have nice glasses) and a home made pasta meal. It was a good job that a minute amount of dish washing liquid was provided as the dish washer didn't wash dishes (check water light, no salt or rinse aid), this presented us with an issue.... No washing up supplies, drying towels or again.... Hot water, we resulted in boiling several kettles to be able to wash dishes. The hilarity continued like a game on the crystal maze TV show where you raced against the clock quickly washing dishes as the plug failed retain the freshly boiled washing up water. Out of date information
Wrong WiFi code
Broken dish washer
Cold shower (no hot water)
Building site mess
Lack of kitchen consumables and supplies
