Guest Reviews
- Richard (10/5): - Great little cottage in a fantastic location. Our second stay here and definitely wont be our last.
- Amy (10/5): Perfect cottage! - Stunningly decorated, super clean and pristine inside. Really comfortable bed and a great shower! We had everything we needed for cooking and relaxing. The underfloor heating was a treat too, especially in the bathroom. Located right in the heart of the town so close to all amenities. Thank you for such a great stay, we’ll be back next year for sure!
- Jennifer (9/5): Perfect - The cottage was beautiful and very well equipped.
Centrally located but the area was very quiet.
You cannot park on the street overnight, however, you do get a permit to park for an hour and we found a spot outside so we could unload the car. There is a carpark literally 2 minutes away so this wasn't issue.
The owner was fantastic, very accommodating.
We would definitely stay again. That we couldn't stay longer.

- eaton (10/5): - Location was perfect. A very comfortable well appointed little cottage. Nothing
- Erica (10/5): One of the best accommodations we had on our 2 month road trip - Everything. Super location, a little tucked away so it was nice & quiet. Very well equipped, clean & comfortable. Thank you for the milk in the fridge.
Host was super understanding when we unfortunately broke a plate.
Street parking is 1hr to load & unload & the host provided a permit for a long term car park a few minutes walk away which was great. Scoring a parking spot was a bit hit & miss
- liam (10/5): - The property was amazing, the location was perfect and the facilities where modern.
- christine (10/5): Will def return - We had a great stay Only down side was no parking which put £10 extra for a night stay
- Colin (10/5): A stay beyond our expectations - Everything. Location, standard of accommodation and responsiveness from Karen to our queries were all excellent Nothing
- Julie (8/5): We had a very nice stay and we would like to visit again. - Very good location in the centre of Ambleside. Close to good variety of restaurants', pubs and shops. The property was a little difficult to find initially as it is tucked away. However once we found it we could unload the car and it was helpful to have a parking permit for the local care park.
- Kevin Connolly (10/5): Very relaxing peaceful. - Location superb 2 minutes to all amenities. Could not fault this little gem of a cottage .
- Scott (10/5): Can't wait to return. - Amazing location, fantastic property. Felt like home from home! We really enjoyed our stay at Grayling.
- Darren (10/5): Very nice cottage in a good location. - Location excellent The charge for the dog at £12 per night felt a little bit steep. We have previously paid about £25 - £30 per week. Not sure why there is a daily charge when the property is only cleaned after each stay not each day.
- Kevin (9/5): -
- Graham (10/5): - Everything! Nothing, the cottage was just ideal
- Emma (10/5): Beautiful break in a lovely location. - Amazing location and completely spotless. Well equipped with everything you’d need. Nothing

- Georgina (10/5): Lovely cosy stay in the heart of Ambleside. - Great location and very nicely decorated Nothing, we had a slight issue with the shower but the owner dealt with our issue promptly.
- Maxine (9/5): Lovely little cottage. - In a good location right in the middle of Ambleside. Tea, coffee and milk were available to use. Lovely cottage and a great bathroom. No parking available near the cottage. Even though a parking permit was available for the road outside it was only for an hour and had no spaces. The permit was also for use on the long stay car park but it was quite a walk away so not great for carrying all the luggage.
- Stuart (10/5): The best cottage we have ever stayed in! - The property is fantastic! The finish and quality of the of every detail is superb! It was incredibly clean and modern but we felt very much at home during our stay. The location is amazing, right in the heart of Ambleside. Plenty of room for us, including our 5 month old daughter (plus her cot) and our dog. Nothing bad to say about the property at all. Would highly recommend! Nothing
- Richard (9/5): Really comfortable. - Interior decor. Cosiness. Parking
- Christine (10/5): -
- Mrs Sarah (9/5): Good property - Great location, very clean and comfortable Nothing
- Tracy (10/5): Perfect, relaxing stay - Lovely little cottage, beautifully furnished. Everything you need in a central location. Loved our stay! Highly recommended Nothing it was perfect
- Kelly (10/5): -
- Raymond (9/5): - No parking
- Robin (9/5): Lovely comfortable accommodation - Beautifully presented - nice touches such as electrically controlled velux window/blind,coffee machine and dishwasher Procedure for parking is not ideal - many of the cars on the street outside the property did not move at all during our two night stay even though the disc parking had a one hour limit during the day - difficult whilst loading/unloading
- Lorna (9/5): -
- Dean (10/5): Just a perfect few days in a beautiful cottage . - A beautifully decorated and designed cottage , perfect for a couple and catered for dogs too . Fantastic touches like the remote velux in the bedrooms and a fan for when it’s warm . Great communication from the hosts family and a great central location. Absolutely nothing , it was pretty much perfect for us .
- Shaun (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carol (10/5): Exceptional - A beautiful cottage in the heart of Ambleside that has everything needed for a holiday in the Lake District. Location is just about perfect….a few minutes walk to shops, pubs and restaurants in the town and the cottage itself has a high end fit out and is extremely clean and comfortable. Couldn’t fault it!
Maggie, the dog had bowls, towel etc. provided and property information pack was very helpful. Long term parking (free with permit provided by owner) was only about 4 minutes walk away and you are able to pull up in the covered area in front of property for loading/unloading. All works well 😊 Can’t think of anything we didn’t like!
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful cottage, lovely decor and very quiet.
- Judith (10/5): A great couple of nights in a stylish environment, located in a great part of town - Very well designed and everything worked well. Nothing I can think of.
- Danielle (10/5): Exceptional - Location is perfect. Clean and very modern comfy accommodation. Lovely overall feel with literally everything you need! Expensive finishes throughout. Even the kitchen sink! 😂 Oven is great if you plan to cook and very spacious. Dishwasher very handy. Velux blind and roof window is a added bonus in the bedroom too. We absolutly loved it. We decided last min to take our new puppy and he also loved it. Esp the shower which he invites himself in to each morning 🙈🚿🐻 we will be back for sure. We loved the little touches left in the property for your furry friends, we made use of the towel and bigger water bowl so thank you for thinning of them too ❤️ A cute little gem tucked away down a little cobbled side street. Sooo many fish and chip shops a stones throw away as well as all the local conveniences like tesco express. Greggs, boots, pubs restaurants, takeaways etc within a short walking distance from the cottage. Perfect. 👌🏼🐶❤️🏡 Nothing at all. Normally there would be something I'd need that I didn't have. But not here. Literally even down to the selection of kitchenwares! Very well thought out and planned spot to simply rock up and begin exploring 🌟
- Hattersley (10/5): A lovely stay and would recommend to anyone. - The property was finished to a nice standard and communications were good regarding arrival, departure and parking.
- Andy (10/5): Exceptional -
- May (9/5): Great location. Lovely property - Location super. Right in the town. House has been designed to a very high standard. Real attention to detail. Very comfy bed and super shower. We felt dog price was high at £48 for four nights especially as our dog is a non shedding Cockapoo.
The tiny garden doesn’t get the sun and as the weather was fabulous we missed being able to sit out.
- Pauline (10/5): Exceptional -

- Lorna (8/5): Lovely Cottage - Lovely property in a great central location, very quiet and just as the pictures showed. The cottage itself was spotless. Would recommend staying here to friends and family! The only criticism I could say for this property is that there were animal hairs in the bed - appreciate this is a pet friendly property but this stood out given how spotless everything was!
- Neil (10/5): Exceptional -
- Debra (9/5): Loved it - Great central location, lovely place to stay, would stay again
great little town
Lots of places for food and drinks
Public transport made it easy to get to the other towns

The kitchen had everything we needed, the bed was comfy and the shower was great too. The hosts were so helpful with information on getting to the cottage and the free parking was a huge bonus. We will definitely return here when we visit Ambleside again and highly recommend this property. Nothing- it was lovely
- Rachel (10/5): Lovely cosy stay in Ambleside - Cottage was super clean and cosy. In great location in Ambleside in walking distance to pubs and restaurants. Lots of lovely dog walks near by and wouldn't hesitate to stay again. Only slight negative would be the parking if you don't manage to find a space on street outside.
- Nicola (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nathan (9/5): Loved the location, and the cottage was spotless with everything you could need. - Quiet location. Squeaky bed and small sofa.
- Jan (9/5): a great place to stay in Ambleside - Very roomy and modern accommodation and location was excellent would've been great if there was a washing machine

The cottage was fully equipped and had modern furnishings.
The cottage is well soundproofed even during the day the was no traffic noise. There was nothing to dislike.
The whole stay was perfect.

- Fiona (9/5): Superb - Lovely quiet spot to relax .
I felt very safe as a solo traveller..Great facilities & super comfy little cottage.
Great outside area which was well lit.
Struggled with luggage & a dog ,as had to park in car park away from cottage....but its managable with 2 trips.
I will be booking again.....LOVED IT @ No car parking at property.
- Ellie (9/5): Lovely stay in Ambleside - Extremely clean and well presented throughout. Kitchen well equipped with all you could possibly need. I'd argue the photos on booking.com don't do it justice as it was more spacious than I was expecting. Excellent location for Ambleside shops and restaurants as well as popular walking routes. Nothing really - parking was limited but that's not the fault of the property and you get a parking permit which is extremely helpful.
- Robert (10/5): Fabulous cottage in the best location - Location and the stunning cottage It was all fabulous
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional - The cottage was very clean and comfortable of high standard in a very good location Everything was perfect with the cottage
- Lynsey (10/5): Exceptional - This is a fantastic place to stay. The cottage is immaculate & has everything you need & more. Nothing at all. It's pretty much perfect!!
- Annabel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Barry (9/5): Outstanding - Absolutely stunning cottage, ideal location, a true gem of a place. Nothing.
- Nicola (10/5): Lovely cottage in a great location - Lovely cosy cottage, clean and decorated to a very high standard. Perfect location in a quiet street but very central to shops, restaurants etc. Parking isn’t great in Ambleside in general but you are provided with a permit which can be used in various car parks not only in Ambleside but can also be used in nearby places.
- Shauna (10/5): Lovely, well equipped cottage in a perfect location, really close to shops and restaurants - Perfect location, very comfortable cosy cottage Nothing
- Emma (10/5): Fantastic - Very clean and cosy , lovely decoration, very near to everywhere , excellent.
- Chris (8/5): lovely place in a great location - Great location,
newly renovated cottage to a high standard. Nothing we didnt like but it would be nicer with a larger sofa and a log burner.
- Sarah (10/5): grayling cottage - beautiful little cottage, had everything we needed, great location and facilities. I was a little apprehensive as I am allergic to dogs and only realised they allowed dogs by prior arrangement after we booked, all credit to the cleaner, wonderful job and I was perfectly fine 🙂 only thing I would ask is that there could of been a lower pillow available rather than 2 very plump pillows, they were both too high to what I am used too.
- Catherine (10/5): Not long enough 2 nights will be back again - Excellent location, beautiful property everything you need Nothing
- Tracey (9/5): Enjoyable stay in a lovely cottage. - The furniture and appliances were lovely. Roomy and the bedroom had plenty of storage space. Thick, large bath towels. Great position for walking to all local attractions but also very quiet. No washing machine and although a free parking permit was included and the long stay car park only five minutes walk away, a park was not guaranteed and the car park was often full.
- Matt (10/5): Just what we’d hoped for. Would highly recommend - Clean. Nice decor. Modern. Peaceful. Central location. Parking a bit tricky/ limited
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional - We visit Ambleside regularly and our stay at Grayling Cottage was fabulous. A wonderful quiet location yet so close to the town centre. The cottage was spotless and well equipped and the decor was of a very high standard . We are looking forward to our next stay at Grayling Cottage! Nothing.
- Angelica (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrea (10/5): Excellent - It was cleaning, comfortable and very nicely decorated. The property was perfectly located. Parking is limited in Ambleside anyways, however parking was a slight negative especially when trying to unload and load the car up. Unable to park outside property but a parking permit is provided and the long stay car park was approx 500m away, Once the car was parked up we didn't need it again for the 3 days were staying.
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic property with great facilities. The location was perfect for our stay. We took our dog and she loved it. Will definitely stay again.
- Kelly (10/5): Very stylish and a beautiful building - Brilliant location. Comfortable living area and lovely decor. The only downside was parking, we parked locally but had to carry our belongings to the cottage, but I think a few places don’t have parking. But had a permit so didn’t have to pay.
- Barrie (9/5): Lovely place to stay. - Location ideal for restaurants and bars. Not being able to park easily.
- Helen (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely cottage. Had everything we needed. Great location, lots of walks and sights nearby to visit. Was a bit tricky to find initially, as one way system and say nav system were a bit confusing. Once we had located it and worked out the parking situation, was all good for rest of stay. Recommend bringing cases with wheels as the car park is about 500metres from cottage.
