• Chloe (9/5): Fabulous weekend getaway with friends - Fantastic property for a large group, plenty of space and different sitting areas. We organised a taxi bus to take us into Kilkenny on the Saturday night, which was hassle free! Beautiful place to stay and fabulous grounds. Thanks Derek!

• CIARA (9/5): Beautiful House for celebrating a Hen weekend! - A beautiful big house used for a hen weekend for my friend - she absolutely loved it and the house met all expectations we had and the decorate was exceptional - the old feel from the house give so much character as well. There was so much room for the activities we had planned for this weekend and the bedrooms we all a great size! The host was extremely helpful and accommodating to us from the moment we booked the house last summer. We definitely will be back for another celebration soon!

• Olwen (10/5): Exceptional - We stayed at Mountrothe house for my friend’s hen party and every detail was perfect for a group booking. The house was easy to find and had plenty parking. The house is prettier than the pictures and has everything you could possibly need for hosting a group, we cooked and held dinner for 16 adults one night with ease. Loads of glassware and dinnerware for cocktails, serving, etc. The conservatory is beautiful and we enjoyed the space for drinks and coffee in the morning. Good Wi-Fi and a smart tv. Taxi to Kilkenny was 15 minutes, party bus was €10 per head. It was easy to get entertainment booked to the house from Kilkenny town also. I really couldn’t fault it. Will definitely book again

The period house is fantastic, it is full of character, has interesting features, spotlessly clean, warm and well equipped. It is large and accommodated us all very comfortably, every room is generously sized. It is in a quiet area, with lovely views across the countryside. The host met us and was warm and welcoming. Fresh flowers and a generous hamper of goodies in the well stocked kitchen. One of the best houses I have rented, exceeded expectations, can't wait to return. Perfect in every way.

• Mary-ann (9/5): Affordable spacious escape - I like how spacious it is. Lots of rooms and each room has its own toilet and shower. Downstairs has a piano room, dining and sitting room. Location was very quiet and private. Very minor detail really. They are still renovating the place so i can smell some fresh paint and concrete.

Very well equipped kitchen (including a welcome hamper), lovely outdoor BBQ area at back and sun room. Beds are very comfortable. Derek and Emily were very helpful and responsive. • Alan (10/5): All good, if you're on the fence, get off it and book Mountrothe House - Everything was great, the house is unreal, the location is gorgeous, it was well set up, nicely stocked, and everyone was very friendly. Maybe the basement could be dehumidified a bit, but then, it's a basement in a very old and very large house, so, you know, it is what it is and I wouldn't complain, but if you're asking me for a negative, there it is, but again, I loved the house, would recommend!
• Therese (10/5): Beautifully restored county house, perfect for group getaway - This house is stunning! From the moment we arrived, we were in awe. It has been so beautifully restored, each room tastefully finished with all the character of the house retained. The bedrooms are very spacious and each one has a beautiful en-suite. The master en-suite is beyond amazing! The welcome hamper was packed with beautiful local produce and the bar fridge contained complimentary bottles of Prosecco…what a treat! There is nothing I would change about this house.

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality and impeccable service. The communication with the owner, Derek, was top-notch, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable stay. Upon our arrival, we were delighted to find a welcome food basket waiting for us, a thoughtful touch that was truly appreciated. It set the tone for the rest of our stay, where every detail was carefully considered to make us feel at home. The location in Kilmachill, Kilkenny was not only picturesque but also incredibly convenient, making it easy for us to explore the surrounding area and it is only a 15 minute drive into Kilkenny City. The house itself was a treasure trove of history and elegance, with modern amenities seamlessly integrated to provide the perfect blend of comfort and luxury. We also loved the Nespresso machine and the Prosecco in the wine fridge. Special thanks to Emily, who looked after us during our stay and made sure we had everything we needed. Her attention to detail and genuine care for our well-being did not go unnoticed. Overall, our experience at Mountrothe House was unforgettable. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat with a touch of luxury. Thank you to Derek, Emily, and the entire team for a truly fabulous stay.
