• Merna (10/5): Magical stay in Sri Lankan hidden gem. - Quiet serenity away from the hustle and traffic of Ella, but within walking distance. Very easy to walk down to the village for lunch or dinner. Host always available for tuk tuk ride back up the steep road. The scenery and vistas across the valley, unmatched. Sitting on our deck listening to the bird song, watching the mischievous monkeys, reading a book in the soft breeze, just what I needed to recharge my soul in this glorious Sri Lanka gift. Thank you Sumith and Nadee for being the perfect hosts. You will never be forgotten. All was wonderful.
• Johann J. (10/5): - Traumhafte Aussicht auf den Wasserfall, ruhige Lage, freundliche Gastgeber jund sehr leckeres Essen. Wir waren leider nur 2 Nächte hier, wären gerne länger geblieben. Leider fahren nicht alle TukTuk Fahrer die steile Strasse mit Gepäck hoch, aber Indi war unser Mann, auch der Gastgeber bietet einen guten TukTuk Service an! Die Affen am Frühstückstisch waren etwas stressig!

• Laura (8/5): - Der Ausblick war fantastisch. Wir sahen direkt auf den Wasserfall, und auch sahen wir den Zug. Es hatte viele Affen in unmittelbarer Umgebung und auch diverse Pfau. Die Gastgeber waren sehr freundlich. Es war alles gut. Jedoch hatten wir am ersten Abend kein Warmwasser und auch am zweiten Abend kam kein Warmwasser. Aber die Familie hat sich sofort darum gekümmert. Wir hatten einen Fahrer und dieser konnte mit dem Auto nicht bis zur Unterkunft fahren. Deswegen mussten wir auf die Tuktuk umsteigen. Zu Fuss. Ist es ein etwa zehnminütiger Spaziergang bis ins Dorf.
• Birgit (10/5): Great place, great hosts, great food - We had a great and very relaxing time. Our host family was very friendly and helpful. They organised everything we needed and cooked amazing food for breakfast and also for dinner. We had a medical emergency and our host took us to the hospital in his Tuck-Tuck and helped translate. We're very thankful. The place is a little out of the way, about 20 minutes walk up and down into Ella centre, but therefore fairly close to the waterfall opposite. It has an amazing view and we were greeted by peacocks and squirrels every morning. Would definitely stay there again! Nothing
• Jou Tzu (10/5): - The room (even bathroom!) are bigger than expected and very quiet. The hosts are super friendly, so does their cute son! You can enjoyed really nice breakfast prepare by them at the balcony with the view. The husband also got a tuktuk which makes everything convenient. Highly recommend!!

• Sebastian (10/5): - Wir hatten wirklich eine super schöne Zeit in Ella! Das Serenity Cottage ist nach am Stadtzentrum, aber gleichzeitig doch abgelegen und ruhig. Das tägliche leckere Frühstück auf der eigenen Terrasse mit wirklich wunderschönem Blick auf die umliegenden Hänge mit einem Wasserfall und verschiedener Vegetation war unser Highlight! Klare Empfehlung :) Die Terrassentüren aus Holz sind etwas verzogen und etwas schwer zu öffnen und zu schließen, sonst gibt es aber nichts negatives.

• Diego (10/5): Best stay in Ella with an amazing view. - Amazing location with a superb view. We really enjoyed our stay here. We spent two nights and everything was perfect. The cottage is located 20 minutes from the city center in a quiet road with a beautiful view on the waterfall. The breakfast was really good and the host was very friendly and helpful. He supported us with renting a scooter and also with the laundry service. I can really recommend this place. They now have a second floor with an amazing room for 4 people, therefore convenient also to family.

• Elles (9/5): Aanrader als je rustig wilt slapen. - Erg lieve eigenaar. Ze halen en brengen je wanneer mogelijk van en naar her centrum. Voor het lopen vonden we het net te lang. Met een tuk tuk ben je er zo. Mooie rit ook van ongeveer 8 min. 'S ochtends ontbijt met uitzicht op een waterval. We zagen ook de trein voorbij komen. Erg leuk. Hebben we geen hinder van gehad. Prima ontbijt en gemakkelijk contact met de eigenaar via WhatsApp. -
• Harriet (10/5): Amazing - The hosts were so lovely and welcoming. They picked us up from the train station in a Tuktuk and nothing was too much hassle. The property isn’t that close to the centre of town for restaurants etc but he was more than happy to drive us down. It was amazing to be surrounded by hills and trees and the waterfall view is amazing. Having tea on the balcony and being surrounded by monkeys is definitely a highlight of the trip. The breakfast was also abundant and delicious. Unfortunately as we were there in the off season the deck was under construction out the front of the room but the side deck was functional so it wasn’t a big issue.

• Zoe (7/5): Good - Lovely view, big room, quiet and private. The bathroom has no ventilation and smells very sour and damp. It is not as modern as the other reviews describe. The property is a long walk from town. We arranged pick up at the train station with the owners and they didn’t show up and we could not contact them for hours to check in.
• Dorota (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing place with spectacular view on waterfall and green hills where you can admire the natural habitat of animals. You can charge the batteries ! Local hosts are really friendly. They offered us tuk tuk transport with good price to see the nearby attractions which was vety helpful. If you want to soak up with the view of green nature and be close to the center I really recommend that place ! :)
• Lucinda (10/5): Even better than 10/10. The most amazing place in the world. - One of the most beautiful and amazing places we stayed. Everything from the wonderful hosts to the food to the room and view ALL exceeded our expectations. We would come back to Sri Lanka just to stay here again but for longer. The hosts were so kind and welcoming and as soon as we arrived we both just said WOW!!! There is a balcony that has the most spectacular view of a waterfall and endless fields and trees and monkeys climbing in the trees right next to where we sat. You can even see the train. The bedroom has a lovely big bed with a mosquito net and a massive bathroom that feels like you are showering in nature although you are inside. Inside the room there are 2 deep bean bag chairs to relax and look out over the view and you can open the doors to feel like you are sitting in your own private jungle. The room is at the very end of a track, our taxi driver was happy to drive down it but same may not be as it is quite bumpy but the hosts messaged us before and asked if we would like a tuk tuk so you could take this option. If you do go by taxi then it is just a little bit further than serenity homestay (we made the mistake of going here so don't get confused). Our breakfast was enormous, enough to fill you up for the day and we watched the monkeys in the trees and the peacocks in the fields. We were greeted with a pot of tea and biscuits when we arrived. There is a fridge, hairdryer, towels and everything you would need. Very well equipped. The location is great as you are 5 minutes from the centre of Ella by car yet in a quiet and secluded spot that makes you feel you are the only people in the world. Down the track is also a pop in yoga place so you could go and join in yoga if you wanted to. The hosts spoke great English. This beautiful place is fabulous value for money and if there is one place you have to stay in Sri Lanka, this is it!!! Nothing
• Christian (9/5): Would really recommend! - The room has an incredible view in front of a waterfall and fields with wild peacocks and monkeys. The room is newly built so everything feels nice, clean and modern. Very available hosts, with tasty local breakfast and dinner which we decided to have there (would recommend). They even allowed us to check out at 3 am because of our safari, and packed us a small breakfast to go. Hot water wasn’t really working. And the WiFi was very unreliable.
• Maxi (10/5): Best place in Ella - Amazing place with the best view imaginable. You can see the waterfall directly from your room. The owners are amazing people who help us with everything. Everything is really new and the bathroom is especially nice. The breakfast is really nice plus you get the amazing view from the balcony. The location is up a hill away from the overcrowded main street, which we really enjoyed. You can get on the train tracks really quick too. If it rains there are some street dogs right outside of the door who can be really loud during the night. Would recommend some earplugs.

At first we thought it’s really far from the center but it’s not! We loved the walk along the rail tracks. 10-15mins walk.

We've been all over and it was the best we could have ever dreamed of! Highly recommend to all ! Waterfall view , beautiful terraced farming , amazing hosts who cook delicious breakfast with such love everyday! Treat yourself and truly experience serenity at serenity cottage . Coming from someone for their first time in sri lanka , will definitely be coming back here every time we come !
