Guest Reviews
- Alastair (8/5): - A very good sized comfortable cottage with some lovely original feaures. Great location. Attentive host. Just a minor note for people with mobility issues, the staircase is spiral, quite steep and uneven. Fine for the vast majority.
- Richard (10/5): Boxing day break - Very peaceful and quiet location. A charming property with plenty of room space and a quirky staircase with a very toasty logburner in the living room. Very comfortable beds made a great night's rest and hopefully will be back in 2026.
- Christopher (7/5): - Location and quirkyness of cottage Very small garden
- Rory (8/5): A perfect stay. Thank you. - Great heating and hot water and kitchen well kitted out.
- Yvette (6/5): Disappointing stay - The cottage was very quaint and cosy.
Its location was perfect for meeting family.
Communication from the owner was very good. We felt the cotrage could do with a deep clean, especially in the kitchen. The fridge & oven were particularly dirty.
The fridge wasn't cold enough as the food was not chilled.
One of the bedrooms didn't have any facilities to hang our clothes.
This same bedroom had 2 lamps that we were unable to use, as they weren't near a plug socket.
We would like to say that we feel it would be useful to mention on your booking sites that the bathroom is downstairs.
There were no board games in the cottage as was advertised. Only children's toys, jigsaws, and a drinking game.
- Susan (10/5): Pretty character cottage located on the edge of the lakes close to Ullswater. - Located in a quiet village on the edge of the lake Dustrict. Walking distance to a pub. Easy access by road or bus into Penrith or Pooley Bridge. Lovely walks from the house (without needing to scale a mountain!). Old quirky cottage with all you need for a relaxing stay. Very dog friendly! All was good.
- Sian (10/5): Very relaxing and a lovely get away for a few days - how comfortable and homey the cottage was
- Gayle (9/5): A beautiful character property in the lovely village of Sockbridge - A gorgeous character property in a lovely village location. Very straightforward check in/check out. Spacious and well equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Just a couple of little niggles but they definitely didnt spoil our stay. Quite a bit of mould on the sealant around the bath.
- Judith (9/5): A lovely quirky cottage - It was a lovely quirky cottage with original features. Set in lovely countryside. No trouble with parking.
- Jamie (9/5): Very peaceful and great location - Location ideal for the Northern Lakes
Local pub within walking distance Could maybe do with a few things updating
- Sarah (10/5): Charming cottage with real character and in a lovely tranquility location. - Rosebank cottage is full of charm and character. A perfect place to get away from it all and just relax. It was perfectly clean and tidy. A lovely cottage run by lovely people, the owners were very thoughtful and kind. Perfect communication about the stay. We would all love to visit again soon, 10 out of 10 - thanks so much! :)
- Anita (6/5): Nice place but needs some maintenance to improve the experience - Host is very accommodating and helpful. She messaged to say we could check in earlier if we wanted. Comfy bed, lovely fire, comfy sofa, well decorated, welcome flowers, radio and had most things you need for your stay. A beautiful cottage, the location is peaceful and good for exploring the area. It was not stated in the description and unclear from the pictures that the bathroom was downstairs. I wouldn't have booked it knowing that. The stairs are steep and quite slippy, also the floorboards in the upstairs landing and in bedrooms are not level. Though covered up by carpets, for people with mobility issues these things would be problematic. After this experience, will check more things prior to booking. It was quite dusty in the house. Would be helpful to have more cleaning products and tin opener for the kitchen. Heating did not always come on in the evenings at specified time. We needed to work out how to adjust the thermostat. Perhaps a file for the house could be provided i.e with instruction re heating, where to locate fire blanket, fire extinguisher etc.
