Guest Reviews
- Keith (8/5): In all, our stay was fabulous. The kids enjoyed themselves being around animals. We slept very well. - We liked the house, the amenities, the beds and the gift basket that Mary left for us! We enjoyed the farming lifestyle, the willingness of the Shanahan family to include us in going to the market and seeing the calves. The kitchen could have been bigger and the heating could have extended to the kitchen.
- Melody (10/5): It’s more like a farm stay - It’s a renovated traditional two story farmhouse on a 180 acre dairy farm half way between Kerry Airport and the village of Castleisland. You need a car, I recommend Hertz. It’s the whole house! Mary welcomed us with a generous great welcoming basket full of groceries to supplement what was already in the well equipped full kitchen. Nealy took us to the Monday morning cattle sale and showed us the daily milking routine. So fascinating! We missed the date to return the car but Nealy brought us back from the airport when we had to return it and Mary took us back the next day to make our flight out. They didn’t have to do that as there are plenty of taxis but that’s what country folk do in Ireland is my guess. It rains every day in Ireland so you soon get sick of all those green hills and latticework of rock walls and fuchsia hedges County Kerry is famous for. Even the delicious Kerrygold butter seems ordinary after a while.

- Danas (8/5): - The location is beautiful, the host was kind and courteous, they provided a welcome basket, and milk, bread, etc. Overall, I was happy with my stay and would recommend to others. There are no locks on bathroom doors and there is no place to hang towels. The headboard on the bed kept moving against the wall which disturbed me.
- Olive (8/5): Very close to Castleisland which is great, has all the local shops and cafes that you need - Mary was a fantastic host, so friendly and so welcoming. Mary had left us a gorgeous welcome basket giving us lovely essentials like tea bags, milk, butter, bread, extremely thoughtful. A little bit expensive
- Nigel (8/5): Very good -
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
