- sks23 (10/5): Loved our stay, what's not to like about being a 'lighthouse keeper' for a weekend. - Location and the communication with the host were both excellent. An easy 20 minutes stroll into Broadstairs. It's worth getting a Treasure Trail of this lovely seaside town and learn a little about its history. If you head the other way from the cottage there is an easy, but longer, walk to Margate. Cottage was cosy and welcoming with lovely views. We were able to take advantage of the ample outdoor space. Staying in a working lighthouse cottage was a new experience. It's worth taking the time one evening to stand outside to watch the lighthouse in action (there's no evidence from inside the cottage that it's working). Also take a few minutes to read up about the lighthouse, its history is fascinating. The fire door between the dining room and kitchen was very strong and difficult to open but helped build some muscle.
