Guest Reviews
- Charlotte (9/5): Wonderful. Relaxing. Cozy. Dog friendly. Would stay again - Great location. Large rooms. Comfy beds. Decent shower. Could light the wood burning stove in an evening and candles which was nice. Nothing we didn’t like about it- lovely place!
A few more board games or pack of cards would be useful. Bathroom downstairs didn’t have a shower could stand up in. So we ended up all using same bathroom which wasn’t what I’d intended when I booked. AGA is in place of a hob and oven so takes some adjustment if you’re total novice like me but I enjoyed the learning experience! Instructions are available there which helps a lot!
Good guest info book too
- Alison (9/5): - The location was amazing with beautiful views. The house itself was very comfortable, clean and tastefully decorated. There was a lovely Aga in the kitchen, however, not the easiest appliance to cook with when you are not used to one.
- Greig (10/5): Beautiful views and a great property made this a relaxing, fantastic stay. - The views were incredible. Sitting watching the outside world with the log-burning stove on was a treat. A lovely property, situated perfectly. Everything was taken care of, and everyone had a great time. Nothing. The property was perfect and exactly as described.
- Anne-Marie (10/5): Beautiful home from home. - Stunning views over the bay, with modern facilities and space for our family (3 teenagers) to spread out and have their own space. Felt very homely with drawers and wardrobes to unpack and lovely communal spaces. Everything felt like a luxury finish and the hosts even left us a bottle of fizz for our stay! A short drive to the main town and 2 mins from the ferry. The welcome pack was really helpful and the recommended takeaway was delicious. The log burner during the storm was warm and cosy. Everybody want to move there now! Our first experience cooking with an Aga was a challenge, even with all the wonderful pots and pans provided. A longer stay and I would have got the hang of it! Definitely a me problem, not the hosts or the property!
- Amanda (10/5): Beautiful Inverbeg Cottage - It was beautiful and so relaxing. It felt like home. Nothing.
- John (9/5): We had a great stay. Loved the house and wouldn't hesitate in coming back. - Large, airy rooms. Quality fixtures and fittings. Everywhere was clean and spotless. Large, secure paved area which was ideal for the dog. Nice views across the bay. Very quiet and peaceful. Proximity to the centre of Rothesay is a bonus. The driveway up to the house is very steep and narrow which some might find a bit tricky. I quite liked it but my wife didn't. Worth taking a walk up before hand to get your bearings. Enough space to turn the car around at the top though.

- David (8/5): We enjoyed our stay despite the difficult access. - Inverbeg Cottage is a lovely, clean and comfortable house and has a lot to recommend it, not least of which are the glorious views from the property given its elevated position on the hillside overlooking Rothesay Bay and the Firth of Clyde beyond. We would however like to offer a word of advice to any new guests arriving by car for the first time. We would suggest not to drive straight up to the property on arrival but instead inspect the route up to the garage by walking up the un-made-up lane which itself starts the incline and then turns sharply into the cottage driveway. This is a steep, double bend S-shape which needs to be completed in first gear in one continuous run from bottom to top at sufficient speed to avoid stalling. We arrived in a fully laden estate car and did stall half way up. Stopping roll back and achieving a steep hill start in this restricted space was not a happy experience and not to be recommended. Go and inspect the whole way up on foot first.
- Julie (10/5): WONDERFUL RELAXING STAY - HOME FROM HOME - THE KEY WAS IN A LOCK BOX AT THE FRONT DOOR - PERFECT N/A
- Paul (10/5): -
- KIRSTIN (10/5): Wonderfully restful stay on the Isle of Bute - Lovely setting with great views. Nicely furnished aswell as Aga in kitchen! Not a criticism per se but a few more appliances in the kitchen would be a big bonus - hand blender, coffee machine.
- Sedor (9/5): -
- Carole (9/5): Great place for our family's needs, very comfortable and clean. Would return - Given wrong key code from booking.com, family.member had to contact owner.
Minor quibbles, no pegs to hang washing,.one loo roll for.five.nights,.upstairs, and two baking trays had seen better days
- Lois (9/5): Superb -
- Rachelle (10/5): Exceptional - The whole place was beautiful, I booked it for some of my wedding guests. The host was truly amazing with information. Highly recommend this place for your stay. Nothing
- Lorraine (10/5): Exceptional - The house was immaculate, equipped with everything you could need for a holiday. Dog treats and dog toys were appreciated by our Labradoodle Jackson. The driveway up to the house was a bit challenging! But it didn't detract from our experience.
- Heather (10/5): Relaxing weekend in a comfortable and spacious house with lovely sea views, within walking distance to Rothesay - Great location with wonderful views of the sea. Comfortable house with great space indoors and out. The terrace off the kitchen with sea views was perfect for breakfast and then a nice glass of wine in the evening. There was very little we didn’t like
- Joyce (10/5): Fantastic accommodation with hosts to match. We definitely hope to return some day. - We had a wonderful stay at Inverbeg Cottage. You know it’s going to be fabulous when there’s a welcome bottle of fizz in the fridge for your arrival!! The accommodation, the grounds, the views, the facilities were just first class. Rare to find a such stunning holiday let which is pet friendly . We really appreciated that. A real gem in Rothesay. There’s absolutely nothing we didn’t like!
- Maralyn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shelley (10/5): 3 couples and a labrador - Very spacious, clean and modern. Log fire was a nice touch. Perfect large garden for dog, fully enclosed. Quiet. Great view. A few different outdoor areas to sit- great if you're lucky with the weather. The hilly drive way up to the property takes a little getting used to but wouldn't stop me staying again:)
- Patricia (10/5): Exceptional - A fantastic property, superbly finished with excellent views. Excellent communication with the hosts. Ideally situated to access all areas of the island. A true gem.
- Colin (9/5): Bute is beautiful - Great views.
Great cottage.
Perfect for peaceful break. Nothing really
- Rebecca (10/5): Very luxurious - Lovely location. Exceptional views. Very well equipped kitchen. Comfortable sofas, and beds. Very clean. Great information. It is hard to find the lane up to the house, especially when arriving in the dark. There is no signage to help at the bottom of the hill
- Kate (10/5): Fantastic stay. Photos don’t do it justice - Location, decor, cleanliness, facilities, space. Nothing
- Joanne (10/5): Fantastic, beautiful property, ultra dog friendly, beautiful view - The cottage is absolutely fabulous! Spotlessly clean, spacious, beautifully decorated and the comfiest beds! Super dog friendly with lovely touches such as dog bed and treats. Garden is stunning and the whole property is enclosed making it very safe for dog. Kitchen is well equipped with everything you need, Aga can take some getting used to but great instructions left from owner. Communication from owner has been amazing! The drive up to the property is a little scary being on a sharp gradient. To that end not the most accessible property for anyone with a disability or difficulty walking. In saying that views were beautiful and could watch the ferries going in and out all day.
- Joanne (9/5): Great all round cottage for our short stay on the Island! - Lovely clean and beautifully decorated cottage! Perfect stay for us we will be back for sure.
- Michelle (10/5): All I can say is this place is a dream with gorgeous views from all the windows of the bay and hills. It was nice to sit - Fantastic views, lovely large clean spacious property with own gardens and pet friendly. This cottage is one of the best we have ever stayed in and Kirsten and Martin go above and beyond even providing dog bed, toys, treats and dog bowls. We were made to feel most welcome with our dogs and had a lovely relaxing time. I can not praise this place enough, anyone going will not be disappointed. EXCELLENT 🙂 Nothing.
- Reece (10/5): Excellent house. will 100% be back. - They property was very clean, spacious and comfortable (especially the beds) the facilities were 2nd to none and would 100% stay again in a heart beat. Absolutely nothing.
