- Leejo Answa (8/5): Perfect location for rail travellers - Ideal location, being so close to the station. The room was clean, although a little limited on space. We had booked the budget room though. We had a memory foam mattress, which was nice and it was quiet as we were placed away from the main road at the front of the hotel. Checking in was easy at the pub and the host showed us to the room. A very small inconvenience was not having anywhere to leave our bags while we went around town after checking out. I guess we've become accustomed to doing that at other hotels and as the pub was closed when we left there was no-one to ask.

I arrived at 23.35, there were no lights on, so I banged on the doors and windows , but no answer, so I had to get a taxi home, which was very expensive. (It. Was a Friday night).

We liked that the party were able to be near each other. Great joint balcony which linked up to other part of our group. Generous amount of tea/coffee/milk, very much appreciated. Towels provided - great addition especially when one had forgotten theirs. Lovely view of castle from Room 15! Christopher was a great host and contacted us prior to sort rooms. Room was linked to two other rooms - We liked that part of our party was in one room but wasn’t best pleased that another guest using the other (even though the room was locked off so couldn’t access ours) we could hear their TV and laughter like they were in the room with us and at 4am in the morning wasn’t really appreciated. However being so tired we eventually drifted off to sleep but was just making the owners aware for future reference.

Staff were very friendly, and didn't mind whatsoever that we turned up a little bit early. Plenty of room within the room, beds were very comfortable, and bathroom facility was very well and clean. Staff also went above and beyond with one of us forgetting our drivers license after we left, contacted us within 24 hours of our check-out. Overall, would highly recommend this hotel for anyone who wants a very reasonably priced room, good facilities, and amazing location for Shrewsbury. NA

Contacted owners afterwards who advised me I should have just contacted them at the time I realised. However we was at the prison nearby for a paranormal night and didn’t get in until after 2am. No way of contacting people at that time. Asked for a resolution afterwards and had no response since.

Room did not match description: given a pokey small attic room rather than a multi-room apartment with double instead of twin; degree of exposed wiring in next room suggests the whole building is unsafe; no furniture in room; room overheated; roof windows and blinds broken, neither could close; significant road noise from outside until not-so-small hours; no privacy from next room due to inadequate communicating door; urine stains to undersheet;

- JD (7/5): Cozy, convenient location but not secure because of app usage to unlock rooms. - Radiator warmed up room very quickly. Hotel right by the train station and yet the room was still quiet. Lamps had very convenient USB and USB-C slots for chargers built in. The owner asked me to download an app that accessess the electronic locks of the hotel and the roooms. This is not secure. A normal electronic RFID key is much safer for everyone. The pub was closed and no staff on site. No dairy free alternative for hot drinks.

- Miranda (4/5): Great location, but an overpriced and dirty room - The location is very good, close to town and walkable distance. Comfortable bed and nice and helpful staff Silverfish in the room popping up out of a hole by the wall, a big spider and loads of cobwebs in the room which must have built up over time as there was so many, hairs in the bed, dirty blinds that didn’t work, general dirtiness such as on the kettle and shelves and a filthy shared bathroom with taps spraying all directions when turned on and leaking down the wall. A woman who sounded like she was on something shouting and yelling and screaming to herself all hours of the night from 11pm to 5am who would have been best to be asked by the hotel to leave considering she was so loud and there was no chance of any other guests sleeping with her in the hotel. For the £72 in total I paid for one night I was shocked at how low quality the room cleanliness was

Super cheap price so wasn’t expecting much but the room was excellent. Very clean and fresh, spacious and comfortable and staff very hospitable. I was amused by the lack of sockets for the kettle and the water pressure was slightly poor. The bathroom needed a full size sink rather than the small one on the toilet cistern.

Staff who checked us into the hotel were drunk, we had to text a random person to say we had paid to get our room key via a digital app. Room was listed as soundproof but noise from the bar blasted through the room and the karaoke on the second night was drowning our room out til well after 12pm at night. Supposed to be a deluxe double room but had a small double bed and a single bed jammed in the same room. Shower didn’t have hot water for the entire stay. Stains all over the walls.

- Katie (9/5): Great one night stay! - Really great for one night in Shrewsbury. Staff were friendly, check in and out super easy. Nothing to complain about for 1 night!

Although the property was quite new etc, because of the cold weather and snow the room was very cold and we had to telephone the place to ask for the heating to be put on because we were so cold.

- Jasmine (1/5): Worst place ever stayed - Nothing This place was advertised as a 4 star hotel so figured it’ll at least be clean and comfortable, unfortunately it was the opposite. The moment we walked in, the red flags started. The owner didn’t greet us straight away as he was serving drinks, which we didn’t mind the ones before us, but not acknowledging us for 10 minutes while new people came to the bar, wasn’t exactly respectful. We then downloaded the key on our phones, we didn’t find this a problem but if someone’s phone died or no data, this could be an issue. We then were taken to the sauna of a room. The owner pointed out the broken window but said he hasn’t got time to fix it because bar staff had let him down. Not ideal as very loud location. The room wasn’t clean, smelled of drugs, loud (we expected outside but also inside), the only sink was in the toilet so hard to wash unless you wanted to go in the dirty shower, no soap so we used body wash. We asked for an iron but the owner said no due to staff. We didn’t want to make a fuss so we figured it’ll do for the one night. After we returned to the room, we couldn’t try and sleep due to the noise so stayed up. At 2am, we were shattered so was getting into bed, when we saw RAT POO in the bed. We immediately called the owner who said he’ll get a new sheet, apologised in a huff and said his housekeeping didn’t come to work. I then explained we can’t use the duvet cover either and we don’t want to stay in this room, considering the new sheet he brought was also dirty, damp and scrunched up. The owner advised there was no other room to go to as it’s fully booked so we said we leaving. The owner unhappily then told us to get into another room (so turns out there was one). We quickly had a look and decided it was better than a freezing cold park bench at 2:30am. This room was still dirty but not as bad. We sat on the one bed which was impossible to sit on, never mind sleep in because the springs were sticking out.

- Andy (3/5): A very basic worker hotel. Not suitable for single women who I believe would have felt very uncomfortable. - Straight across from the station. The bar person was very professional and explained exactly how everything worked. Basic rooms with non matching towels, very small sink that is part of the toilet systern, basic bed and very noisy guests who were shouting expletives in the corridor for long periods making for an uncomfortable feeling of security. There were no additional locks on the doors only the electronic door handle and not even a chair that could be used as additional security against the door.
- Gillian (5/5): Would not recommend or stay there again. - Nothing really, bonus that it had a lift. The room had a horrific smell, the bin was full of rubbish and the sink on top of the toilet, what the hell is that about! Pub below hotel is dire and barmaid was ignorant!
