Guest Reviews
- Linda (10/5): Excellent, Perfection, Fabulous Host, so glad we found this place - There’s nothing not to like. The property is immaculate, everything you need is provided. We had use of the whole downstairs which includes a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, shower room, beautiful conservatory, living room, and patio seating in the garden. The bed was comfortable, with spotlessly clean bed linen. Location is walking distance to Saltdene lido and there is a bridle pathway that takes you directly into Rottingdene village. The only think to be aware of is that it’s a very hilly area so think about mobility. Buses are very frequent and plenty of car parking though. The host, Jayne, is fabulous, excellent communication before we arrived and was on hand to make sure we settled in well. Unusually for an Airbnb, a continental breakfast is included in the price. Jayne checked for allergies and preferences before we arrived and everything was fresh. This accommodation has gone straight to the top of our favourite places to stay because we honestly couldn’t fault it. I noticed that there is a single unfair recommendation, but to give the benefit of the doubt, maybe the lady thought she was booking a bed and breakfast because I have no idea why she thought the “staff” deserved anything less than a 10+ Jayne, you have us one of our favourite weekends at a time we really needed home comforts and we can’t thank you enough. That we had to come home
- Cathy (10/5): A lovely clean unique place, with a friendly attentive host. - A lovely clean unique place, with a friendly attentive host. A small point but perhaps marmalade/jam to go with toast and croissants?
- Susanne (10/5): Thank you Jayne. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. - Warm welcome. Jayne is a lovely host. The accommodation is decorated to a very high standard & spotless. The bed is very comfy & the accommodation is spacious.
There's a great shower & a nice kitchen plus there's a conservatory for relaxing & for breakfast. It was so nice in there that I didn't use the sitting room or garden.
The house is high up, so from the table in the conservatory, there's a nice view across the town, up to the heath & even out to the sea.
Jayne provided fresh strawberries for my breakfast, a very nice touch.
I had a great 2 night stay, wouldn't hesitate to recommend & will be very happy to stay again. I loved my stay. No problems at all.
- Beverley (10/5): Lovely short stay, in relaxing atmosphere , with great views and peaceful surroundings. Would definitely stay again when - Spacious and extremely clean. Very well equipped. Beautiful views.
And an extremely good host . Nothing
- Danylo (9/5): Superb -
- Alison (9/5): Superb -
- Maria (5/5): Passable -
- Wahib (9/5): Superb -
- Sally (10/5): Exceptional - Great host!
- Jacqueline (7/5): Enjoyable and convenient - Good location to visit towns clean and welcoming Would prefer an en-suite bathroom
- Andy (10/5): Brilliant place and will definitely stay again - Great location, lovely host and excellent accommodation
- Marilyn (10/5): Comfortable home from home - We had the lower ground floor of the hosts house to ourselves! A comfortable home from home. The host and her three cute dogs made us very welcome. A continental breakfast was provided daily. There was a TV in the lounge and bedroom. Altogether a very relaxing experience.
- Michael (10/5): A perfect home from home - As a working musician, I have stayed in all manner of places around the world. However, I can say with all honesty, Saltdean Heights is one of the very loveliest in which I’ve had the pleasure of staying.
To our host, Jayne, nothing was too much trouble, & her warm welcoming personality made us feel right at home from the minute she opened the door on our arrival.
On being shown around our accommodation, we were struck by its cleanliness, & also the amount of room at our disposal: a bedroom with the most comfortable bed, a bathroom, a shower room, kitchenette, living room, conservatory, & the gardens! There are also televisions - fully loaded with the ‘most important’ streaming channels - in both the bedroom and living room, with the latter also boasting a gaming console.
All of this along with an abundance of clean, fluffy towels.
A Continental Breakfast was served by Jayne each morning in the conservatory, which we augmented with the supplied cereals etc. Sitting at the conservatory’s little table whilst looking to the South Downs was such a lovely start to our day.
All in all, Saltdean Heights is the perfect home-from-home for those who prefer not to have the fuss of a hotel or the restrictions of conventional bed & breakfast accommodation.
Would we return? Most certainly! We’re already planning out next visit.
One other thing, if you’re a dog/animal lover, you are in for a treat: Jayne has three very friendly, very cute, small [hypoallergenic] dogs, who, if you wish to interact with them, will be very happy to meet you!
A few things to note: The property’s Location is excellent, but do bear in mind it is situated in a very hilly area. Having a car/suitable transport is recommended if you’ve mobility issues. Also, there are some stairs leading to the guests’ entrance. Another thing to bear in mind: if you are looking to have complete privacy, Saltdean Heights is a family home and as such you may occasionally meet the very lovely members...
- Steven (10/5): Pretty godamn good, would go again. - Amazing host, very welcoming and great tips on location. Love the dogs!! Nothing really, wish we could have stayed a day longer
- Jason (10/5): Lovely property, wonderful host and darling dogs. - This was a fantastic property, extremely comfortable and in a great location. Jayne was wonderful and made my son and I feel very welcome. The dogs were friendly and even my son, who is normally afraid of dogs, felt safe around them. As the property is part of a family home, other people are sometimes present which can create some noise.
- Jan (10/5): Friendly, helpful host made us feel at home -
- G (10/5): Comfortable and quiet stay that suited my needs perfectly. - Breakfast in the conservatory. Easy access to Brighton by bus or car. Welcoming host.
- Gary (8/5): Jane was so helpful and had thought of everything to make our short stay a happy one. - The breakfast was very satisfactory, served in the conservatory, with views down over the houses to the sea. It was good to have an extra room with the sofa and TV and the company of Jane's lovely little dogs.
- Duncan (10/5): Great stay. - Jayne was a great host.
Comfortable bed.
Very good value.
Good breakfast.
DWE. Nothing to dislike.
- Shum (9/5): Superb - Beautiful property, extremely accommodating owner. Comfy bed. Fluffy towels. Home away from home!
- Ann (10/5): Exceptional - Exceptionally clean, very comfortable surroundings, I had the bottom floor and gardens to myself.
The host was very easy going. Will come back again if I am in that neck of the woods Nothing
- Megan (8/5): Super and relaxed. It felt like we had had a much longer break. - Having a whole ground floor to use and garden to sit in was an unexpected pleasure. We really felt at home staying with Jayne and will come again.
Lovely fresh linen and towels and a good continental breakfast too.
There was a choice of toast, croissants, cheese and cold meats and cereal with fruit juice and tea or coffee laid out for us help ourselves . We were blessed with great weather so ate outside but a small bistro table could be a bonus in poor weather.
