• Yanet (10/5): Very relaxing and comfortable. - The room is comfortable and very pretty, with a cute little view of the town buildings. Is located in the center of town with easy access to shopping, art gallery, market, church. There is a kitchen, and washer, as well as a balcony to hang clothes, and a small living room. I loved it.

• Michael (1/5): I didn’t stay. - First of all the first photo on their page is not of the hotel but of the Mercado across the street. Once I found the hotel I was shocked when I opened the door and saw a place in decay. I thought ok let’s walk up the stairs and see what the rest of the place looks like and it only got worse. I felt I could fall through the staircase any second. I quickly turned around and walked out not a chance I’d stay in a place like that. I felt dirty just walking in. Sent note stating the above and said I won’t be staying and asked for my money to be returned. Haven’t heard a word back. Everything.

• Matteo Piovacari (8/5): - Everything went great, the house is cozy and well equipped. Instructions for check in were smooth and clear. The house is located in a quiete area in Vila Franca, right next to the historic Mercado Municipal. Parking is somehow easy to find. Maybe the mattress of our room was a bit too soft, recommend to check on that! 😁
• Giuseppe (10/5): B&B centralissimo: accesso automatizzato comodissimo e atmosfera davvero accogliente. - La struttura si trova in pieno centro, proprio accanto al mercato municipale e alla piazza principale del paese. Situata al secondo piano, l’entrata è completamente automatizzata: basta inserire il codice ricevuto da Booking e si accede facilmente, recuperando poi la chiave della camera in un locker. La nostra stanza, “Paradiso Verde”💚, era splendida: un decor curato e luminoso che trasmette davvero un’aria di primavera. Il bagno è piccolo ma funzionale, con una doccia dalla bella portata d’acqua. Tutta la casa è profumatissima e molto accogliente. A disposizione degli ospiti anche un piccolo soggiorno e una cucina ben attrezzata. Davvero un Bed & Breakfast consigliatissimo per posizione, atmosfera e cura dei dettagli.

• Sarah Young (9/5): Great little stop off - The room was comfy and the kitchen well equipped. The lights in the entrance were a little iffy, but as you need a phone for the entry details, it was not a big issue, we just used our phone lights.

• Annika (10/5): Boho hideaway in quintessential town - Quintessential Portuguese guesthouse with lovely, quirky botanical interior. We stayed in Boho room 3, it had a lovely view of the pretty local market building (which was lovely for breakfast). The bed was really comfy and the sheets felt lovely. There was a small seating room which looked out onto the small town area. You could sit here, enjoy the breeze, read a book and people watch. It was so lovely to see how the locals spend their time, greet each other and how friendly they are. The town itself is very small and traditional but it has some great history and plenty of things to see. I would recommend staying here in October when they let the bulls run through the streets. That would be an amazing experience! The local Corridas del Touros is a 6-minute walk away, and they also have bull fights in the October where you can book online. There is a deep Matador traditional and history in the town and when you do the research, you actually find out that the bull and the Matador serve a great purpose and that is protect the current live stock at the farm from an aggressive bull. Aggressive bulls could kill the whole herd and possibly farmers too so they have to be found and killed. It sounds harsh but the bull is not killed in public and nothing of the bull goes to waste. The meat is sold at a high price with a certain percentage going to the poor and the community. It has changed our view of this traditional from cruel to necessary. There are two small museums in the area, one about a Matador's life and one about the traditional of bull fighting. If it hadn't been for the Alma do Vinho wine festival (once a year, 20 mins away), we probably wouldn't have ever found such a charming little town. It was definitely nice to experience and there are some nice local walks with a huge river next to a park. We would definitely stay again. There just wasn't enough storage in the Boho room and no where to put your things out for ease of use. I would recommend a sideboard instead of the hanging rail below the TV and the large chair (which is not needed in a small room). We found it difficult to use the small shelf and mirror as we had to keep moving the chair out the way. Next to the bed, they really could do with having bedside drawers. Again this is for storage and for having things in reach like phone, glasses, tablets (medication) and bedside lamp etc. They currently have little chairs, which look cute but don't really serve a purpose other than that. There was a rule about removing footwear upon entering the apartment (which we have no problem with) however there was no chair near the door to do this easily. It would be nice if one was either put as you walk in or kept outside in the corridor. The bathroom could benefit from a mirror in front of the sink as you are unable to check your teeth and face whilst cleaning. You have to keep turning around to check the mirror behind. The main building and staircase is very dark and there is no lighting to climb the 2 floors needed to get to the apartment. If you don't have a torch on your phone, you might struggle. These are all just practical improvements I would make and it says nothing about the the cleanliness etc which is FANTASTIC. The place is spotless and very well looked after with a lovely charm 😊 The owner was delightful and answered any and all questions we had very promptly. Their English was great 👍🏻👌🏻

As it was getting late and no response, we booked another place. (New place provided entry codes instantly. ) Not being able to open a door , with a confirmed reservation was Very frustrating especially after a long walk on the Camino.

• Peter (8/5): Once over our initial approach, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.the location was nice, it was plenty warm, the facilities - Once settled, we had everything we needed. It was initially hard to find. Even standing looking at the door we weren’t sure. The sign had gone and the lobby and stairwell were dark.

• Rudy (9/5): Great place for pilgrims! - I had a wonderful room: large, clean and with everything available that a "tired" pilgrim could desire for. The hostel is located in a quiet neighborhood just off the "city center". Across the street at the corner of the indoor municipal market is a delightful café were the locals meet and everybody knows each other. In the afternoon I sat outside to write in my diary and plan my next stage of the Caminho Portuguêse while having a glass of red wine for 0,50 Euro cents. 🤗 I only had 1 euro coins on me so I had 2 glasses of wine 😀 If you want to cook yourself or want to buy " bring along lunch food" for the next day's hike, the indoor market across the hostel is the place to be. I bought fruit, and walnuts at the grocery stand behind the café were a sweet, proud and friendly old lady was taking care of business by herself: respect! Nothing, maybe except for sharing a shower & bath room, but things could be far worse! Early in the camino season there only "two old polite men" staying so everything worked a fine ;)

• Rowena Goverdina (8/5): Verrassing achter de deur - De Kamer en de sfeer in het appartement. Leuk ingericht. Ik kon de ingang niet vinden en de entree was ook niet herkenbaar hosteria. Het was onpersoonlijk, alsof er werd verbouwt. Mij was niet direct duidelijk dat het een pand was met meerdere bewoners. Mijn bericht was in het Portugees, dus ik begreep niet alle aanwijzingen. Toen ik eenmaal op de tweede verdieping was, begreep ik het. En toen ik het appartement betrapt, was ik blij verrast. Heel leuk. Locatie ook top
