- McCarthy (1/5): Lanigan's Cottage was not as advertised, a very uncomfortable, disappointing and over priced stay. - We provided our own breakfast. We have visited Ireland six times and our stay at Lanigan's Cottage was the worst experience we have had, The cottage was most definitely not as advertised,
There was no washing machine.
The water was brown and we were unable to shower .
Two thin rough towels were all the was provided for four days.
There were no hand towels.
There were no paper towels.
The bedroom blanket had a large hole.
The front door did not open fully making it difficult to bring luggage in and out,
None of the cooking pots had lids.
There were no bowl for cereal or soup,
There were many cobwebs.
Overall the cottage was not clean and windows dirty and some cracked.
There was no garden view.
There was no area to sit outside.
The horse stables were adjacent to the cottage and the smell of manure was strong and there were many flies,
We would most definitely have left almost immediately if we could have found another place to stay and should be refunded for a stay that did not provide what was promised and for which we paid .
- Mairita (5/5): We were in shock - We like open fireplace in the bedroom.
Worm up very fast. The place was in the middle of nowhere. The front door is hard to open.
The actual cottage was in the middle of the horse farm. We need to close the curtains all the time, because the workers were working on that farm.
Water was brawn colour.
We picked this place because ,because I wanted to relax and take a bath, but because the water was coming in brawn colour, I couldn't take it. I was very disappointed with that.
We wanted romantiski evening outside on promised terrace, but there was no terrace.
- Conor (8/5): Lovely experience - Great location tucked into working stables Floor level from hall to bedroom changes.. should have been a warning as to danger of tripping.. which I did!
- Danielle (2/5): Best avoided - The cottage is clean and host is responsive and helpful The ad states that there is a washing machine and outdoor garden/terrace, but neither is available. The floors are uneven and the bed is rickety and uncomfortable. The location is not scenic, as it is in the middle of a working horse farm, right beside occupied stables.
The water is not potable and very little potable water was provided for two nights. The pots in the cupboard were dirty.
- walsh (9/5): Great isolated place to stay in a beautiful setting. -
- Kelsie (10/5): suited our purpose well . I enjoyed all the horses - practical quiet and great for our 2 dogs would have liked bedside lamps

- Laura (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alma (6/5): Pleasant -
- Albert (1/5): Bad - Nothing. Stay away from this place. It is very bad! The cottage is surrounded by horse stables. The smell of horseshit is omnipresent. The front door is a mere 5 meters away from the horses. This property is not fenced and therefore not safe for pets unless you keep them indoors. The oil fired heating did not work properly. We had no water in the taps and no central heating! We could not shower or take a bath. The front door only opens halfway and catches on the floor. Toilet seat is loose. The bedroom floor is uneven and is a trip hazard. Drinking water provided in unsealed plastic containers? We booked for 2 nights but left after the first night. What a bad experience.
- Marie (10/5): heaven with horses - well,,late arriving, so my host had the cottage heated,, to the extent of the stanly oven on all cylenders,,, a fire lit in the bedroom [i kid you not] we had a few bits from aldi and a hot bath to rest the weary bones. the internet is fab and there are stables out the front door,,tv is not my thing but its got upteen chanels via internet,,,,the stars shun and no traffic, beautifull country walks and the canal/river is 10 minutes away,, view is amazeyballs,,,you cant miss this tranquil spot ,,pinch me,,,,no not a thing
- Penny (10/5): Relaxing , great place to unwind with pets . Lovely walks . Thank you - A beautiful little cosy cottage set in the countryside full of character surrounded by horses . Great for dogs . Very clean , owner friendly, easy to operate heating, open fire in bedroom.

- Chelle (9/5): Superb -
- Vincent (4/5): Disappointing - Graiguenamanagh is a lovely town. Very scenic area. Plenty of lovely walks. The property was not for me. No outside space. Very dark. No washing machine. Water was undrinkable and discoloured. I didn't want to wash anything in that water.
- Joseph (7/5): What an experience - Rural
Off the beaten track
Great star gazing in pure darkness
Great broadband included
TV channels were comprehensive and free of charge
Rustic feel all round.
Drinking water provided free of charge
Oil fired central heating also heated water (included) Some light bulbs not functioning
Tap water not drinkable and stained yellow (but see drinking water provided free above)
Front door drags on floor and needed a kick/push to open fully.
Flooring very uneven and a trip hazard
- Elaine (10/5): Exceptional - The cottage was very comfortable and it was lovely to be around the horses
- Michael (8/5): Very good - Quiet country side location .Surrounded by green fields & rolling hills .Animal lovers can admire the ponyies .Country rustic cottage with Irish Charm .
- John (9/5): Superb - Lovely place and setting. Sand arena was great. Hosts were ready to provide any help. Lovely peaceful stay. Would recommend.
- Adam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tamsin (8/5): Very good - The view and location was lovely, the hosts were lovely. It was bigger than I expected with a lovely big stove to keep me warm. It's in a lovely stables with gorgeous horses around and is nearby some lovely places to explore, rivers and hills and lush green everywhere. It's quite a simple and old fashioned cottage, so don't go expecting anything too fancy, but it gives you a good taste of beautiful rural life in Ireland.
- Lucy (10/5): Lovely cosy cottage in scenic area - Nicola was great. She had the cottage warmed for me to arrive which was so welcoming.
She was so helpful at explaining where things were/ how to work heating etc.
Cottage was lovely inside and bed was very comfy. Bonus that I could bring along my dog too!
- James (3/5): Poor -
- Maria (10/5): Secluded stay in countryside close to picturesque village - Very simple to find and keys in door for us … got phone call to see if we were there to pop down to go through things … very helpful and nice
- Declan (4/5): disappointing price versus experience - decent bedroom located bang in the middle of a horsefarm with associated smells. poor water pressure in bathroom. not enough bowls in kitchen. leftover out of date milk in fridge. overpriced all things considered. google map didnt link with actual location
- Subash (10/5): Exceptional - The house and the locations are much better than what we saw in the picture. Very peaceful and beautiful place to stay. It's worth travelling the distance. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay. The house was so clean and has all amenities. Very nice reception. Highly recommend. May be the Google map route to reach the place was not accurate. It took us to a small shortcut of 300 meters of private road. It's not a big deal, though. I would suggest the owner to have some sign posts on the road (especially in the last 2 kms close to the house) to help customers reach the house. Again, it is just my constructive feedback, but it is not a big deal at all.
- Dana (10/5): Lovely hosts x - Hosts were lovely. We were the first guests in this quaint little cottage and met our needs to travel into Kilkenny .
