Guest Reviews
- Andres (8/5): If you want to experience a true Japanese onsen experience with wonderful hospitality come here. Easy to find, beautiful - Great location.
Our hosts were the most beautiful people helpful in many ways.
Futons were comfy as were the pillows.
Private onsen was an extra bonus. Nothing we didn’t like
- ChrisCzer (10/5): - Das Onzendorf und der Privat Onzen waren Toll
- Jenny (8/5): Excellent for the monkey park and the hosts tokens and brought us back from the Monkey Park. - It was clean and tidy with excellent hosts. Nothing
- Chong Chah Nee (10/5): - Friendliness and helpfulness of owners
- Hee Tae (8/5): -
- Eric (10/5): Parfait ! - Calme et authenticité Rien !
- Jeremy (10/5): -
- Daiva (9/5): - The accommodation is located in a cozy town where you can experience an authentic Japanese atmosphere. The hosts are very kind and attentive—they prepared a traditional breakfast box. Guests can also use the onsen in the house and receive a key that allows access to other local onsens. -
- Kristin (9/5): -
- Martin (10/5): -
- Nienke (10/5): -
- Huy (10/5): - The best bang for your buck here!
Super affordable.
The hosts are super responsive to emails as long as they are expecting messages from you.
They offer free rides to and from the airport and to and from the snow monkey park!
Theyre one of the Ryokans that give you the master key to the 9 onsens. They can sell you a towel that you go and collect the 9 local onsens stamps.
The onsen at the accomodation is relaxing. It smells like rotten eggs which means it's filled with sulfur and other minerals and is straight from the source.
Location is right at the center of town
The couple who runs this place is super cute! No dinner? But I didn't really expect it at this price.
- Guy (10/5): Lovely stay!! - The couple were so welcoming and lovely, picked us up from the station, took us to the snow monkeys and dropped us back at the station after checking out.
The hotel is lovely with a great private onsen outside and a very spacious and comfortable room. The shared open shower area is something to get used to, but is all part of the onsen experience.
Onsen disponible.
- Jonas (9/5): -
- Diane (2/5): I cannot recommend this property to anyone who can pay more. - Two positives: the senior couple running it were very kind and helpful; location perfect for snow monkey park (and onsens if that’s your thing) Our room was so dusty we had itchy eyes. The walls were stained and the bathroom sink needed a good scrub. Room had old music equipment and even a dusty old phone from the 80s. We could not handle it so we left a night early. We did not want to offend the couple as they were so nice but they need to hire cleaners as there was dust down the hallway and light fixtures; even cobwebs in the bathroom. The floor mattresses had no support left and the bed covering was an old duvet with a white cover put on it.
- Angélique (9/5): -
- Simon (10/5): Awesome generous sized room with access to your own private onsen - this was authentic Japan - awesome - thanks Yumoto - Friendly hosts who were always willing to help Couldn’t stay any longer
- Marie (10/5): Just what we expected, and more. - The lovely couple who ran it were superb. It was all excellent
- murray (9/5): - Very friendly. Pickup and delivery to train and Monkey Park.On site outdoor private onsen.
Nichts
- Francesca (10/5): - Amazing stay, you have an access to a private onsen in the middle of the village. The hosts are really accommodating and kind, giving you shuffle service to/from the station and the monkey park. I would 100% recommend staying here!
- Ksenia (10/5): - Very convenient location and hospitable hosts! We really appreciated how they met us and took us back to the ryokan at the station and to the snow monkeys. Thank you so much! The room was warm, and there was a heater, so it was comfortable to sleep in. The hotel's onsen is better than the nine public onsens.
- Megu (10/5): -
- Armin (7/5): -
- Si Jia (10/5): Kind owners, clean and functional room -
- Keon (8/5): Highly recommend. The surrounding restaurants are well worth a visit, I did not visit any of the other hot springs so ca - Very nice aesthetic and charm to the dwelling. Host has lots of information about the surrounding area and are incredibly helpful with any kinds of needs and transportation Nothing much to complain about, all my needs were addressed
- Sara (10/5): - Everything :)
Perfect location (in front of onsen n.3), free parking, the ryokan per se is an amazing experience and the staff is very very kind. -
- SATOU (7/5): -
- Aleksandra (9/5): - Very friendly and helpful owners, picked me up from the station also taking me to monkey forest. Extremely awesome price/quality ratio. I also took Japanese breakfast and bought towel for onsens in the hotel so they have all needs covered. Would love to stay longer! :)
- Suzanne (10/5): - Great service and location. Picked us up from the train station and back and dropped us at the snow monkeys and back too.
- Kristen (10/5): -
Rien.
- Fiona (10/5): A pleasant stay - The owners were friendly and considerate. offered shuttle and recommendations of where to eat and what to do. Easy going and easy to talk to. nothing
- Johan (10/5): - Tout Rien
- Edgar Naoki Morinishi (9/5): Really positive experience, comfy rooms and japanese style - The ryokan is on the heart of the onsen street at Shibu Onsen, so if that is your thing, it's the perfect place for you. The staff is really friendly and helpful and they try their best to communicate in english. The room is big and cozy in the japanese style. You may not get this experience elsewhere in this pricerange. The breakfast is good and you may want to add it to your stay considering there aren't a lot of restaurants open in the morning. Not much to say about the ryokan itself. The Shibu Onsen area isn't really active. We've struggled to find open restaurants, even when they were tagged as open on google maps some of them close way earlier. Some of them take the last orders at 19h40 so be aware of that. Also, some places do not welcome tourists, even with english menus and all so be aware of the information leaflet for etiquette.
- Gemma (7/5): Charming stay - The room was really spacious and the town is super cute. The owners of the ryokan are very nice and helpful, the owner took me to the monkey mountain by car and even dropped and picked me up from the train station. They are really nice and speak great English. The town was quite busy and there were not many dinner and lunch options unfortunately, so I recommend to buy some food in advance because the first night I could not find any open restaurant to have dinner. The ryokan is a bit old.
- Koralyn (10/5): Wonderful stay right in the heart of things - Wonderful stay. Very helpful staff that went out of their way to give rides, recommendations, explain things. Such a fun historic hotel.
- Cruz (10/5): Amazing - Real Japan experience Nothing
- Takaya (8/5): -
- Egle (10/5): Magical stay in a quiet Onsen - The place was absolutely incredible, the owners are so caring and helpful and their English is very good. We really loved the hospitality, the pick up and drop off from the station and they even drove us to the monkey park too! Also the private Onsen is incredibly gorgeous, perfect temperature and it was not very busy so didn’t have to wait long for the key.
- Korina (10/5): - Lovely service with the owners picking us up from the train station and also taking us to the snow monkeys. Loved the private onsen and the location in a nice onsen village.
- Manuel (10/5): -
- Christine (10/5): Fantastic and authentic Japanese ryokan stay. Owners are lovely. - We loved this ryokan and the owners were so kind and helpful. The outdoor onsen is great and the rooms are super comfortable- it felt Iike a really authentic experience. No local restaurants open so they drove us to and picked us up from a restaurant near the station- couldn’t have asked for a better experience in this cute little village. Highly recommended. Nothing.
- Anthony (10/5): -
- Melinda (9/5): An authentic stay in the heart of charming Shibu Onsen - We loved the location of the property, Sibu Onsen is a charming little village. The access to both the private and public onsens was excellent. The staff that run the ryokan were exceptionally helpful and efficient. There were not many options for dinner resulting in us walking in heavy snow to Lawsons which was over 1km away. If you are staying there with children/hungry teenagers, be better prepared than us and make sure you have provisions for dinner with you. The breakfast provided by the ryokan was delicious and is recommended.
- Rosette Ferrer (10/5): Great homey experience and value - Very very kind hosts. Pick up from train station and shuttle to snow monkey park were super. Extra kindness when we needed favors. Super helpful that they also allow takkyubin delivery. Breakfast were nice and traditional. Really enjoyed the private onsen. Nice spacious traditional room with very clean toilet. Room was dusty in hidden corners.
- Mauricio (10/5): -
- Marcus (10/5): Wonderful traditional Japanese accommodation - Our hosts were very welcoming and kind. We were picked up from the railway station and were also driven to the Snow monkey Park entrance the next day. Our family Ryokan room had plenty of space and it was wonderful to experience traditional. Edo period accommodation. The Onsen bath was so relaxing after a busy day. The Ryokan is located in the centre of town and an easy walk to many facilities. We would be very happy to stay again. Nothing to complain about, everything was just right
- John (9/5): Beautiful traditional feel ryokan in an excellent location with very helpful owners - Beautiful traditional feel ryokan (tatami mats, etc) in a great location right in Shibu Onsen. The onsite Onsen was perfect. The owners are very helpful and help arrange everything - it is a great base for both the Snow Monkeys park and the famous local Onsen. Breakfast was great (and they accommodated a Vegan diet). I would definitely recommend staying here. The room is older, but still very comfortable. An in-suite shower would have been nice (we had a toilet, but had to use the Onsen showers)
- Nadissa (9/5): Sweet traditional hotels with many facilities. - nice and very accomodating owners. Traditional hotel but they have a lot of facilities, the location is near public onsen, but they also have their own onsen in their property. They also provide free flow of water and coffee,, free kimono to wear outside, and to take pictures -
- Ana (10/5): Relajante y comfortable.
- shuto (10/5): -
- Winnie (10/5): Super pleasant stay as the couple who owns it made the experience very comfortable and welcoming. - Super sweet couple who owns the ryokan. Provides access to the 9 public bathhouses around Shibu Onsen. The couple also offers rides to/from Jigokudani park to see snow monkeys! :)
- Jeffrey (8/5): Nice cosy and homely environment in a retro facility - Clean, cozy and
Friendly staff and generous with care and help.
Great scenic views and close to the bus stop to traverse the resort area. Some areas are quite dated.
Perhaps it’s the period that we were there but there is a limit food choices in town at night.
- Kerrie-Maree (10/5): A wonderful traditional experience we hope to have again! - The hospitality was so wonderful and the onsen and breakfast was excellent!!
We wish we could stay there longer. Unfortunately we were in a rush but our hosts were very patient with us and all our luggage. We will recommend Daymaryuya to everyone..
Being able to wander the streets in Yukata and Geta and have access to various onsen was amazing, and so was photographing the very iconic building just like the “Spirited Away” anime
Also our hosts were very responsive when we contacted them about an item we left behind. We hope we get to visit again.
- Heecheol (10/5): -
- Samantha (10/5): -
- Eunice (8/5): Comfy stay - Close to Main Street to experience public onsen Shower turned cold and wouldn’t go warm again, luckily I have finished with washing my hair . Common bathroom cleanliness can be further improved .
- Tanaparn (7/5): -
- Maria (8/5): -
- Oscar (10/5): -
- Mama Bunny (8/5): A memorable stay - It was a cosy Ryokan run by this friendly couple. The husband fetched us to and from Yudanaka station which was excellent.. we came on 26/12...there was snow blizzard that lasted almost the whole day. We were also driven and fetched for our trip to the snow monkey park. We love their onsen facility..it was memorable soaking outdoors under the falling snow! Nothing we didn't like. The Ryokan is great and quiet. Perfect.
- Ainoa (10/5): Genial per a families i/o grups grans. - Tot.
- Darya (9/5): -
- Sureeporn (9/5): -
- Calum (10/5): -
- Massimo (10/5): - I proprietà sono molto gentili e disponibili. La posizione della casa é comodissima. Siamo stati benissimo. Hanno un Onsen privato molto bello.
- Fuka (10/5): -
- Catapang (10/5): -
- Marzena (8/5): - Typical old ryokan with small outdoor pool. Old and dirty. For this kind of quality the price was to high. The outdoor pool was very relaxing but dirty.
- Lena (10/5): - Really loved the hospitality. We everything about our stay
- Romain (10/5): - Le petit déjeuner, la chambre, l'emplacement
- Francois (10/5): Top -
- jjjchu (8/5): - Lovely place, great hot springs, very kind owners, and was the perfect last minute booking on a budget. I was able to relax long and it was one of the best parts of my stay in Yamanouchi. It is also directly across the bus station to either the Snow Monkey park or Yudanaka which is really convenient. It really is dusty like others have said, and there is a slight smell that we got used to. The dust buildup in the corners and windowsills were really visible even without looking for them so it could be a cause of concern for allergies.
- Jessica (10/5): - The location is very central and gives you access to all of the bath houses. There beds were traditional as expected and traditional clothing was made available for your use while experiencing the onsen. Meals were not in Ryoken but there were options available nearby for each meal and all the food options were delicious. The hosts were kind, knowledgeable and so attentive. They also have a private outdoors onsen in their ryoken as well as a shared bath in the bathroom. Highly recommend, the whole experience was so peaceful! I would definitely stay here again!
- alston (10/5): -
- Magneto Fón (10/5): Great Ryokan Experience - Traditional Ryokan with with extremely nice owners. They picked/droped us at Yudanaka station and gave us ride to Monkey Park.
It was our second ryokan in Japan and this one was much better, very quiet and comfortable. There is heater in the room for cold nights.
Onsens in ladies and gents bathroom and a key to private one which you can use anytime if it is free.
Nice location to walk and experience all nine public onsens. Everything was pefect, strongly recommend.
- emeline (10/5): Loved our stay! Perfect location, breakfast was excellent and hosts very kind and helpful! -
- marta (8/5): -
- Stuart (8/5): With some small changes it could be exceptional. - The owner was so friendly and helpful, taking us to and from the station and the monkey park. The location was great and overall I think it represented really good value for money. The room needed a thorough clean as there was lots of dust which made it an uncomfortable place to be.
- Brian (9/5): Very nice Ryokan experience. - Very nice Ryokan that is close to everything. The staff did a great job and helped us with getting to and from the train station and to see the snow monkey's. Their Onsens are really nice and they provided us with Yukata's, Geta's, towels and master key to use walking around outside for the 9 public Onsen experience.
Niets
- Jenni (10/5): Autenttinen ryokan onsen-kylässä. - Shibu onsen -kylään on helppo tulla esim. Tokiosta Naganon kautta.
- Denise (10/5): Great accomodation, great hosts. - We loved our stay in this ryokan. The hosts were so kind and accomodating, picking us up and dropping us to the train station and transporting us to snow monkeys. Loved everything.
- Claudia (10/5): - The staff are the nicest people, who drove me from and to the Yudanaka station as well as to the Snow Monkey Park. The room was super cozy. They had an outside and inside bath, plus you got the key to use the other baths in town. Will be coming again.
