Guest Reviews
- Kevin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Melissa (5/5): Passable - It was close to restaurants and shops. It was a big place, with some modern decor and facilities. There was a power tower right outside the main bedroom, which was noisy at night, and it smelled musty.
- Pete (10/5): Beautiful, peaceful and will definitely go back again. - Location was brilliant. Just a short walk to the main drag of Tamborine. Cottage was super clean and well presented. The place has charm and character all through it. Was so quiet and peaceful. Host was easily contactable and pleasant to deal with. Not sure what other people are going on about, place was wonderful and will definitely go back again. Nothing really bad to say.
- Angela (4/5): Good communication and location and it's a roof over your head but that's about it I'm sorry. - Host responsive and helpful. Location excellent. Property in serious need of general maintenance. Fallen down fence to start with doesn't give good impression upon arrival. The house has a very strong smell which is off-putting. General maintenance severely lacking, rubbish and excess items not required just left there. Plates in the cupboard were covered in mould as was a saucepan in the cupboard. Oven hotplates do not work accurately. Half the lights either don't work or are so dim they are pointless. Some windows are unable to be locked which doesn't provide much security. Screen door upon entry scrapes and doesn't open fully etc.
- Juanita (10/5): Exceptional -
- Holden (3/5): Wouldn’t recommend unless you are staying one night and not needing to spend much time in the place. - The location was central and close to my work conference venue. Easy check in. The garden was overgrown and was hard to access driveway - our SUV car didn’t fit in the “carport”. The front screen door didn’t open properly making it difficult to get our luggage in. The front door needed a lot of effort to pull closed. No wine bottle provided even though it was mentioned in the booking and in the confirmation. Most of the windows were left open and unable to close and lock. The towels looked dirty and felt rough. Found fake eyelashes in the single bed - unsure how clean the sheets were?
- Erin (6/5): It was a good location. - Location was so close to shops and walks.
Met our needs with bedrooms attached to a common bathroom.
House was bigger than expected. It was musty inside as there were many blankets and carpets downstairs that were not necessary.
There was no bottle of wine upon arrival as was advertised in the post.
Wifi didn’t work (and we had work to do that night that couldn’t be done).
- Robert (6/5): Pleasant -
- Brian (1/5): Rosemary cottage was a huge disappointment. It's completely unloved and uncared for. - The only good thing about this property is the location, close to restaurants and the gallery walkway. 1. I had to contact the owner to get the lock box code - no instructions were sent to me.
2. The garden is unkempt and overgrown - weeds everywhere, leaves piled up, dead branches lying around, vines growing over the outside walkways.
3. There is a filthy, revolting looking, sofa on the 'verandah'. Heaven knows how old it is and it really should be removed and disposed of.
4. The screen door to get into the cottage only opened a short way and required to be scraped along the concrete to open it further (it never fully opened).
5. There was an overwhelming dank, musty, mouldy smell throughout the cottage. No amount of open doors, open windows and fans alleviated it.
6. There were bottles of shower gel, shampoo etc. on the floor, in one corner of the shower, which had some brown slime on the lower outside (possibly from being submerged in the shower water?)
7. The water didn't completely drain from the shower, leaving old water accumulated in the corner where the bottles sat.
8. There is an outside area that has an old pool table and lots of 'junk' around it - why is it there?
9. On my departure I tried to contact the owner to find out where I could leave the keys but, unfortunately, it went straight to voice mail. Having no instructions I placed the keys back into the lock box and left a message for the owner to inform them of this.

Up date added 07/01/2025.In response to your initial reply, I did Not receive any entry instructions. What is your explanation for the disgusting damp and moldy smell through out the place. The filthy, revolting looking, sofa on the 'verandah' why was it there. It is a definite health hazard in my opinion. Why are the grounds in such a very bad state. I am very very disappointed in Booking .com that you continue to advertise the property, and seem to shrug off negative comments.
- Ted (8/5): relaxing. - Lovely peaceful place away from the hustle and bustle (madhouse) of the gold coast. But be mindful there are stairs that will probably trip you up.
- Jennifer (6/5): Pleasant - Overgrown garden, old towels, dirty and unwelcoming outdoor space
- Georgia (7/5): Good -
- Matthew (7/5): Good -
- Daniel (5/5): Overall it was a bad experience for us. We had a 5 year old that is hard to entertain - It was close to everything. Could just walk everywhere House itself was aged. Rugs were wet, floors were wet. Didn’t have light bulbs in some places
- Darian (5/5): Could a great place with a bit more effort. - Great location near Gallery Walk. Private space and a nice bottle of wine. Unfortunately my partner is quite sensitive to musty environments and opening the door I knew it wasn’t going to be a good outcome. This property could not be recommended for anyone with sensitives like this. Ended up with puff eyes and nasal congestion. Got out of there at the crack of dawn….
- Paul (3/5): Poor - Front screen door jams when opening, bugs inside house, house felt damp, outside of house untidy
- Gordon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sean (8/5): Very good -
- Mary (8/5): Clean and close to down. - It was clean and close to town. The cottage had everything we needed and the owner was lovely. I would highly recommend staying here. Great value for money. There was nothing I didn’t like. I really enjoyed my stay
- Sophie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Renee (1/5): Dirty, unhygienic, unsafe! - it was dirty, rubbish in the bins, sheets hadn’t been changed, dirty towels, hair in the toilet and fake eyelashes on the bathroom vanity! felt disgusting and uneasy about staying there!
- Mckenzie (9/5): Superb - Great location, clean and neat.
Layout is nice and set for relaxation. No information on WiFi network or if it could be accessed. Number of light bulbs not working.
- Callan (10/5): Exceptional - Location, close to wedding venue
- Marguritta/karen (6/5): Despite the hazards under foot, we did enjoy our stay and the whole house was spotlessly clean. - Inside the cottage was extremely clean with very tasteful ornaments place around and a nicely looked after house for its time. beautiful led light windows lovely timber floors. We would have loved a photo of the history about the house. Beds were very comfortable and all kitchen equipment, (plus milk) supplied. And steps didn't creak. Unfortunately nothing can be said for the outside. walking from the car to the front door was a hazard and NO light to how us the way. (the light that was there was a lovely display light) We are in our 70's and 80's The house had too much unkept greenery around and we could hardly see the night sky. Sorry TOO MANY STEPS. As much as we used them for exercises it was hard going as we had to traverse up and down many times. Steps going into the dining room, step down to kitchen and luckily we are both slim enough to get through to the toilet next to the washing machine!!
- Kaye (8/5): we loved the cottage and loved the locations, and found all the locals we spoke to were very helpfu - the location was excellent. and the staff were very friendly and helpful thank you did have a problem with getting the key out of the box, but a staff member came and helped. thank you
- Sue (10/5): A beautiful stay in a beautiful place. - I thoroughly enjoyed my 3 day stay at Rosemary Cottage.
I was very impressed by the spaciousness of the cottage, with its 2 sitting rooms [one downstairs and one up, separate dining room, 2 toilets, and large, beautifully appointed main bathroom].
The whole cottage was very clean. The kitchen was fully equipped and well provisioned, with a wide variety of quality teas, as well as spices in the cupboard. I loved the furniture and lovely decor items.
Lots of big windows, all screened. I was able to watch the sunrise from my bed.
The cottage was well equipped for all weathers, with air con, ceiling fans, a slow combustion fire and an oil heater.
The location was amazing, literally 2 minutes walk from the famous Gallery Walk, with its cafes, bars, brewery, wineries, French bakery and specialty shops. Even on Monday night, there was a choice of places for dinner and I found that, just opposite the Cottage, there was a venue with bar, dining room and live music. On a Monday night! The small village of Eagle Heights is a 5 minute walk away. It has a small supermarket, a bottle shop, a pizzeria, another charming cafe, a butcher, pharmacist, doctor's surgery and another lovely bakery.
I was greeted warmly by Lee. Because I was arriving on the shuttle bus, she arranged for me to check in at noon instead of 2pm, which made settling in a breeze. All in all, it was a wonderful, relaxing stay. Everything was great.
- Therese (4/5): Disappointing -
- Alisha (9/5): Would definitely stay here again - walking distance to lots of Cafes, brewery and shops. - Easy to find, amazing shower and loved the separate bedrooms upstairs. Plenty of extra blankets for those cold nights. Lee was an excellent host and always got back to any queries we had. Perhaps a bedside table in the second bedroom and some TLC to the outside - so much space with lots of potential. The entrance door wasn't able to be fully opened due to scraping on the verandah concrete.
- Kym (9/5): Superb -
- Nakitah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rachel (8/5): Very good -
- Deepak (10/5): Exceptional - The property manager Gigi was so friendly and understanding. She was always reachable and helpful while I have to cancel my booking in the last minute with personal reasons. She accepted a full refund and communicated in timely manner. Would definitely make an arrangement to stay there next time .
- Larni (1/5): Bad - The house was cute and the location was good The house wasn't clean. Bathroom bin had rubbish in it. The fridge was dirty, freezer was mouldy. The small milks in the fridge went off at the beginning of the year (it's now December). My son almost drank the milk. Cutlery and bowls dirty. The lounge room smelled so musty/mouldy it gave me a headache. The host took an hour to answer the phone and tell us how to get in which was stressful in the evening when we were an hours drive from the property. No care is put into this accommodation at all..
- Kris (8/5): A quiet retreat into the tropical forest in a very comfortable peaceful self-contained dwelling. - The house was charming and beautifully renovated. The bathroom upstairs was exceptional and the shower was fabulous especially with the heat lamp above. It was also very quiet. We could also walk into the town very easily. Thank you for sharing your house with us. Lack of pots and pans and glasses!!
- David (7/5): Happy - Location
- Justine (1/5): DIDNT STAY WAS DOUBLE BOOKED, STILL AWAITING REFUND - this is only one unit and i arrived to find other people staying in it, i am yet to hear of a refund from booking.com , very poor
- Daniele (1/5): Bad -
- Sam (1/5): same as above - I cannot comment as you cancelled my booking on me and I could not find any other accommodation same as above
- Chris (1/5): Didn't stay as they doubled book - Shocking from the start the phone number for the property was wrong. So couldn't get in contact to arrange the keys. We arrived and had to go to the house next door as there was no sign of anyone this was the owner of the property then she said oh its been double booked sorry.
We luckily went over the road to the Manor and was able to get a room at a cost. But it was a lovely place would definitely recommend The Manor.
