Guest Reviews
- Robert Sneddon (10/5): Family trip - Everything Nothing
- Meg (10/5): Meg's trip. - The cottage was lovely, very cosy and comfortable. Everything we needed was there.Views were exceptional, loved watching the ferries arriving and departing. Not a thing.
- Galina (10/5): A beautiful house in a picture perfect location - The house is amazing, it is beautiful, comfortable and clean, and in a stunning setting, with a pretty garden. There was everything we needed in the kitchen. The beds are very comfortable. And the view to the bay is so lovely. The communication with the hosts was very easy, we had no problems at all. Nothing
- Mhairi (10/5): A really lovely, cosy, winter get away! We felt at home in Hawthorn Cottage and would highly recommend a visit! - Beautiful, cosy, clean & homely! We had no problems to report!!
- Katarzyna (9/5): Perfect short stay - The view from the cottage was marvellous Nothing
- BETTY (8/5): - The cottage is wonderful with a nice view. The blind in one of rooms didn't work. The stairs going up the bedrooms was sleep so not practical for people who have mobility issues. Early check out. Not a lot of restaurants in the area.
- Susan Michelle (8/5): Positive stay overall in this cozy and confortable flat. - The cottage was cozy and confortable, with a beatiful view of the port from every window, plenty of space, new appliances in the kitchen. The owner of the flat was friendly and helpful with regard to our needs. 1) Due to the Floris storm, when we arrived in the evening there was no electricity, which meant no light during our dinner and no heating. 2) The next day and the following there was no water for several hours during the day. It seems that this issue is rather frequent on the Isle of Skye. We would suggest a water supply system to be provided for emergencies. 3) There were holes on the road leading to the cottage, which made the last part of the journey a little bumpy.
- Marcio Manhaes (9/5): Me senti em casa. - Foi tudo conforme informado. As instalações são modernas e funcionais. A vista é muito aprasivel. A proprietária sempre respondeu prontamente as solicitações. Faltou água na manhã de um dia, mas o suprimento estava normalizado quando retornamos.
- Nigel (9/5): - Location, facilities, garden, view. Not a concern for us.. a lot of steps to move people, babies and baggage. But you only do it once a day!
- Serhii (9/5): - The house itself was amazing, a very cosy and comfortable place to stay. Its location provides a great view of the harbour below.
- Kathleen (10/5): -
- Susan (9/5): Nice play to stay - Very comfortable cottage with all the facilities. Great location. It would have been nice to have washing powder or pods. I had to go and buy a box to do one wash.
I think it's a bit cheeky to ask people to empty the bin at the end of their stay. It's a long walk to put stuff in the car and then you've got to do that as well.
- Catherine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dana (9/5): Perfect accommodation to enjoy the island. - Great location with excellent views. Enough space for family of four. Coffee and black tea available in the cottage. The stairs to the bedrooms were quite steep.
- Kailash (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ram (10/5): Lovely, immaculate cottage with modern amenities & picture-postcard views - a delightful getaway! - Hawthorn Cottage exceeded our expectations! It was spacious and immaculately clean with all the amenities we wanted, including washer, dryer, induction cooktop, WiFi, etc. The views through the two large bay windows (Uig Bay, Harbor and homes perched on the opposite hillside) were as pretty as a postcard, and changed with the bright sunshine, occasional mist and drizzle. The lush green of the gardens gave a quiet, secluded feel to the cottage. Our family of 4 spent 3 days in the cottage at the midpoint of a 2-week road trip through England and Scotland, and it was the perfect place to relax, wash our clothes and eat a few home-cooked meals. Hawthorn Cottage helped make Skye the highlight of our trip! A couple of unexpected inconveniences, both minor: 1) One has to climb around 20-30 steps from the street-level gate to the cottage entrance. 2) On the last morning, we were packed up and about to drive off at 9:50am (checkout was 10am) when the water mysteriously stopped in all the taps. We messaged the hosts about the water via booking.com, but didn't hear back.
But these were minor. We loved our stay at Hawthorn Cottage, will recommend it to friends, and we hope to return!
- Marcos (7/5): In summary, while the property itself was acceptable , by the self check-in process and lack of on-site staff made for a - We recently stayed at Hawthorn Cottage and had a good experience. The property was in good condition - the furnishings were well-maintained and the appliances were all working. We completed all the pre-arrival registration information as instructed, only to be given an incorrect access code when we arrived at the property well after midnight due to a delayed flight. It took over half an hour of back calling and messaging before we were finally provided the right code to get inside. This was an incredibly stressful and frustrating experience after a long day of travel.
To top it all off, when we requested a late checkout, our request was flatly denied. The rigid 10am checkout time was completely unreasonable, especially given the botched check-in experience and having a check in time of 5pm. 7h for cleaning seams unreasonable.
- Siow (9/5): Beautiful house with splendid sea view. - Spacious, clean and well-maintained 2-bedroom house. Host was prompt in reply. The steep staircase to the upper level.
- Nadia (10/5): Perfection - This cottage was just amazing. Just everything you could need was there. The cleanliness was outstanding. In fact I want to live there it was so good Nothing
- Jane (9/5): Superb - Great views over the bay, excellent standard of cleanliness, spacious, well equipped, comfortable and very nicely decorated.
- Serena (10/5): Idyll at Uig refreshed our mind and body - Location, how well equipped and beautifully furnished it was. The overall design of the spaces and the views to die for. Having to leave
- Rao (9/5): Wonderful cottage in a great location! - Loved the shower!
Very comfortable cottage, had everything we needed
Beautiful views, very convenient location
Information provided was very thorough
Cozy bedrooms, Bluetooth speaker, tv, kitchen well equipped
Washer dryer! Nothing really!
- Greg (9/5): Excellent, well appointed cottage for and extended stay on Skye. Recommended highly - Great base for a few days in the north of Isle of Skye.
Communication was great as we approached and
Recommendations received all valuable. Nothing major to grumble about. Could do with more firewood and possibly some basic pantry staples (oil, sugar).
- Myles (10/5): Highly recommended. Great value and excellent location. - We loved having a washer/dryer after a particularly wet and muddy hike.
The entire house was clean and comfortable with everything we needed.
It was a good location at the north end of Skye, in Uig. We enjoyed great meals at the Uig Hotel and the Bakur restaurant, and at Rankins supermarket we found all the food and supplies we needed for our stay. Head room in the bedrooms was lacking for some of us who are taller, but it couldn't be helped with the design of the house.
