Guest Reviews
- Angela (7/5): Great for a one night stay - In location we needed for a days walking Normally in properties I have stayed at in past there is a starter basket of logs but there was not. Tbf to property it did not say logs were provided but did state there was heating which unless you had your own logs there was not. I did message and they did say they would sell us some coal if we needed it for £10 a bucket.
- Jamie-lee (10/5): Perfect, will be back in a heartbeat - Stunning set up, really friendly hosts. Amazing area for walks
We ordered the Mexican meal on the one night too & the amount we received was amazing, the flavours were incredible… definitely recommend to everyone
Perfect little kitchen, lovely yurt set up. We felt completely at home for our 4 night stay.
Great local pubs within walking distance, easy to get to the canal.. we have zero issues.. thoroughly enjoyed! And we were pleasantly surprised by the shower as its glamping, lovely heat & pressure
Thank you so much! Maybe the toilet but we didn’t find it a big issue
- kirstie (7/5): - The yurt itself was really lovely. The location was lovely, right on mountainside with wonderful views and the canal within walking distance. The bathroom was ok, didnt expect no towels but might of missed that on the description. We thought there was a bbq but had to buy a disposable one.
- Rhys (10/5): -
- Douglas (4/5): Very disappointed, everything was very neglected, needs upgrading. - The location was good and the owner was friendly. Microwave was very rusty inside , the toaster was rusty and the tins holding the cutlery was also rusty and the cutlery was very mismatched. The cushions for the outside garden furniture were very badly ripped.
- sally (10/5): It was just perfect! - The location was perfect for what we wanted, access to the canal. Upon arrival, we were given excellent advice, making our evening plans even better. Once back and in the Yurt, we were welcomed by the surprise of the electric blanket, perfect for the time of year! Thank you Nothing
- Alexandru (10/5): It is an experience that is worth trying. - The concept is amazing, perfect way to relax in the nature. Heated mattress cover was a luxury.
- Michael (6/5): - Electric blanket , swing . Was really cold even with the burner blazing ,
- Jo (8/5): - Location was perfect i have stayed 3 times now but 1st time in this yurt
Hosts are exceptional Nothing
- Davies (10/5): -
- Colin (8/5): Enjoyable, nice weather,a different break to what I was use to,but overall it was good and the hosts were friendly and ob - Found it fine. Nothing really.
- Bolger (10/5): -
- Ryan Maurice (8/5): -
- Paulo (9/5): Wonderful! We will return! - Good location, nice stylish interior. It was a little Cold even with the fire on! And blankets
- Laura (9/5): Lovely - Lovely stay would book again Bed wasn’t very comfortable
- Francesco (8/5): -
- Nicola (9/5): - Loved the electric blanket.
- Kirstie (10/5): Confortable - It was well equipped clean and tidy I liked it all
- Michelle (9/5): Very enjoyable stay, would definitely stay again. - It was our first time staying in a yurt. The yurt was a good size, it could easily fit a king size bed in which would be better, but everything you need was there. I would highly recommend ordering the pizzas from Si as they were gorgeous! The electric blanket was a lovely unexpected bonus as it did get chilly in the evening when the log burner went out. Overall a great stay and would definitely return. Bigger bed would be nice, but didn't dislike anything.
- Wayne (10/5): -
- HARRIET (10/5): Lovely comfortable yurt with good facilities and in a beautiful spot for walking and exploring. - Excellent space to relax and refresh - comfortable bed and lovely views from the table by the window. Felt sufficiently secluded and safe - important for me as a solo visitor.
- Claire (10/5): Lovely relaxing break. Thistlebank has a lovely chilled ambiance. - Owner very helpful on telephone when couldn’t locate with sat Nav. Loved getting cosy with log fire.
- Mary (10/5): - Location was fabulous. Out door kitchen was unique and enjoyable Nothing to dislike
- Stoney (8/5): Pretty yurt for those who want one step up from camping outside. - The location was good - very close to Llangollen by car. The view across the fields was lovely, nestled into the hillside. The yurt is very pretty with easy parking outside. Bed wasn’t that comfortable and could really be Queen or King size - given the space in the yurt. Close proximity to the next Yurt meant sound travelled from them late at night - think occupants thought they were in something more solid that would dim the sound more. We also arrived in a heatwave (not typical British weather) which meant the yurt was too hot to be inside till much later in the day - not a true indication of the place or the owner trying to help with a large fan. In cooler weather it would be perfect. Distance from main road meant some traffic noise throughout the night but to be expected.
- alison (10/5): -
- Estelle (9/5): Great place to relax away from all the hustle and bustle, property owner recommended a fantastic local pub for a bite to - Very cosy, great location Loved everything
- Jane (10/5): - It's was lovely and quiet
- Margie (10/5): - Perfect getaway our second visit and will definitely be back
- SHIRLEY (10/5): A peaceful yurt - It was a fabulous yurt, quiet and peaceful, but very comfortable. It was also private.
Kitchen area included kettle, microwave, fridge and hotplate
Shower was good, plenty hot water
All very clean.
Outside chairs either in the sun or shade, very thoughtful.
I walked into Llangollen along the canal, allow just under an hour, but lovely walk.
I'm really glad I booked it, highly recommend. Nearly missed the sign to say where it was.
The drive up is a challenge, but worth it
- Louise (4/5): - Difficult to find the place. In a remote location and taxis not available. Left feedback with the host and received a very sarcastic response.
- Michelle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen (9/5): Superb -
- Calum (8/5): Very good - Comfortable accommodation close to Llangollen and local attractions. We booked for the novelty of staying in a yurt and enjoyed it. Facilities obviously not 5 star but perfectly adequate for a short stay. Friendly host greeted us on arrival.
- David (10/5): Beautiful facility and stunning location, very reasonable priced , with fantastic hosts - It was fantastic, very very comfortable yurt , so cute , beautiful facility and idilic location Nothing
- Millie (9/5): Scenic and romantic getaway - Cosy and beautiful scenery. Great for a little getaway, me and my fiancé had a great time. Great location not far from Wrexham and Llangollen, walkable and accessible by car. The host was lovely and very helpful, and ofc have to mention Sushi and Pickle who gave us a warm welcome Gets quite cold during the night, we forget kindling so we couldn’t use the log burner. I think a little list of what to bring such as logs would have been helpful.
- Richard (9/5): Superb -
- Rosie (10/5): Exceptional - Gorgeous yurt with a lovely view. Had everything we needed and even a BBQ which was perfect.
- Lisa (7/5): Lovely Yurt - Modern, clean spacious, furnished Yurt with a sheltered kitchen area with all facilities to make drinks directly outside and an enclosed bathroom with shower. We didn't use the stove, but we could see this catered very well for cooking. There was no wood for the fireplace and the temperature dropped significantly, when we popped out for dinner /stopped for milk and biscuits on way back to warm up with a cuppa.
The hill to the yurts was too steep for a new car, we parked lower parking as the road up was stoney....unpaved.
- Natalie (9/5): Superb - loved our stay
would definitely recommend and come and stay again. nothing
things were a little dusty in outdoor kitchen but it's outdoors
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional -
- Evans (10/5): Exceptional -
- Scott (9/5): Superb -
- Kristian (10/5): Me and my partner had a lovely stay in thistlebank yurt, town was only a short but scenic canal walk away. Cosiest sleep -
- Weir (10/5): Mid week break - The whole experience was amazing . Very clean and tidy . So close to all amenities. Was greeted with a friendly face and was also left alone to our own devices . This is the first time we have ever stayed in a yurt and can honestly say it won't be our last although i will be bringing more logs next time as the nights in april are pretty cold Thank you thistlebank for the experience
- Leanne (10/5): Amazing experience - It was really cosy and had everything we needed was very clean and the views were beautiful enjoyed walking around the area along the river and not far to walk to langollen town
- Netch13 (10/5): Exceptional -
- Harbach (8/5): Thistlebank yurt - The yurt was in a lovely location, very quiet and comfortable . Good to have the electric blanket as it was very cold at night, but the bed was soft and warm, with hot water bottlesalso provided. There was a log burner but we had to provide our own logs etc. Think is could have been set up ready for arrival then you provide after that. We didn't know how much wood etc to take.
- Kirk (10/5): Exceptional - Location was excellent lovley view host was really helpful..a pleasure to stay here 😀 Nothing
- Jade (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maya (9/5): Superb - Very lovely yurt with brilliant facilities, in a beautiful spot!
- Ian (10/5): Smashing - Great setting, lovely yurt. Top notch I liked it all
- Eugenie (8/5): Fun Yurt accommodation. 😄 - This place is a great fun alternative to typical airbnb or hotel. The yurt is secure and sturdy. I stayed 1 night in late December, and wind gusts were strong during the night, but I wasn't concerned all. The wood burning enclosed fireplace adds atmosphere and warmth with wood and coke provided for 1 night
Kitchen and bathroom are outside yurt, which didn't bother me, and I made use of the bbq and electric hotplate.
I could park my car right outside the yurt.
The bed was comfy.
Simon, the owner manager, was really lovely, responsive and helped me with kindling and paper for the bbq so I could cook a much wanted fillet steak, baked potato and veggies, also offering oil and vinegar if I needed it.
All said, I definitely recommend the yurt and enjoyed my stay.
Thank you, Simon Only criticisms I can make are when the yurt's fireplace goes out during the night it was super cold in the morning during my stay as no other heating available. I'm glad it wasn't snowing. The toilet wasn't working properly with a jug of water needed to flush, and the kitchen sink faucet kept coming off spraying water everywhere. Simon is aware of these, so I expect he will get onto repairs quickly. There were two bath mats but no bath towels supplied, which I think was just an oversight and as I was leaving very early I didn't worry about this for one morning. The kitchen dish cloth and brush are really old and grubby, so hopefully these will be regularly replaced.
- Elaine (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely 2 night break in Thistlebank Yurt. Warm welcome. Comfy bed with electric blanket too - fabulous.
Great location- 40 minute stroll down the canal to Llangollen.
5-10 minute stroll to nearest pub - Sun Trevor which serves great food. Spiders in the bathroom - eek!
- Sarah (10/5): Thistlebank Yurt was fantastic. Set in a great location with beautiful views. Home away from home. - Great location, Beautiful views, Loads of activities and walks/hikes to do locally. Friendly hosts. Clean tidy and fully met expectations.
- Hough (9/5): Superb -
- Mick (9/5): Very relaxing and peaceful - The location was excellent and the welcome from Simon was very informative. The accommodation was great and the walk down the canal to the town was very good. Would look to go back and do it all again. Nothing to add in this section
- Marianne (7/5): Enjoyed it - Bed was comfortable, lovely views The kitchen, every thing was dirty when it’s windy dust is all over the plates& the shower was very basic
- Nicky (8/5): Very good -
- David (8/5): Generally a very good stay, but just needs a few adjustments to make it really good. - The yurt was well appointed inside with everything that one might expect. Comfortable, clean and cozy. Finding the driveway to the location was poorly detailed and took a phone call to be directed in. The final gravel driveway is extremely steep and could be challenging for some vehicles. We were not greeted by the owners even though they live on site, but we didi eventually get to meet them on the 2nd day. The kitchen is very basic but sufficient if you just want to make tea/coffee or a very simple meal. The shower room was clean and utilitarian. The shower/etc were all good. However, the camping style toilet had a problem with the hand pump making it difficult to flush at all. The mixer tap in the kitchen was faulty causing water to spurt upwards!
- Teresa (8/5): Relaxing and peaceful night in a yurt under the stars - Stunning location / lovely and cosy and very comfortable bed. Everything needed for cooking. Nice neat bathroom. Lovely sitting outside in the evening- so peaceful and relaxing. Nothing apart from towels included in the bathroom would have been nice.
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (10/5): A beautiful place to stay just 5 minutes from LLANGOLLEN. - It was quirky beautiful. Absolutely loved it. The owners thought of everything you would need - hot water bottles, heated blanket, all your kitchen tools and appliances, bbq, everything. Was wonderful. Nothing. We loved it.
- Zueri_pingo (8/5): Very good - - It was a special experience to sleep in the yurt. The room is decorated nicely, and it would probably be really nice to sit outside on a sunny day and evening. Unfortunately, we had rather cold and rainy weather during our stay, so we could not really use the facilities to its fullest, which also means that it was relatively pricy considering the value for money. - If the weather does not play along, it is difficult to justify the relatively high price (in my opinion)
- Edward (9/5): Nothing was to much trouble - Lovely location comfy very homely Nothing
- Daryll (10/5): Exceptional -
- Natasha (7/5): Good - Great location 😁. Very comfortable yurt, comfy bed. Attention to detail is needed in the kitchen area, 😔.
- Angela (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rachel (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful retreat, lovely location. The Yurt was so lovely inside. Had everything we needed. Loved everything
- Francesca (9/5): Perfect for a week-end away camping - The view from the yurt is amazing and the position is perfect to explore the area. There is everything you need from a weekend away and the log burner provided some much needed heat when the temperature drops at night. Water was really hot and more than enough for shower and dishes. The owner was so kind to lend me an hairdryer after I forgot mine. The driveaway is very steep, so keep it in mind if you are planning to do some hiking.
There is no cover over the yurt entrance for when it rains
- Natalie (9/5): Superb -
- Gareth1988 (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ali (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lucy (8/5): Was lovely to get away and stay somewhere that was cosy. Good location to get to Llangollen and next to the woods so you - The little touches that made it feel cosy The walk to the toilet and kitchen felt a bit exposed
- Stephanie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Kevin (10/5): Loved it - Really liked the quirky different look was not disappointed night time in a great location was relaxing and peaceful 😌
- Ian (1/5): Not a good stay - The Trevor pub very friendly atmosphere very welcoming
Walks by canal The room was damp beyond belief the chairs where damp ,the log fire ,once you used your small bucket of coal you had to buy more at £7.00 a bucket from owner, and the wood as shown in the pi tures is underciver and not to be used as could damage the fire,, so where cold and had to sleep fully clothed, also ,in the literature provided it states quiet time is 22.00 but we had contact owners as there children where screaming and shouting outside yurt in the pitch black from when we arrived back at 18.00 till gone 22.35 and had to phone the owner ( SAM) to see what time the screaming was due to stop, and with the children in the other yurt next door eventhough it was 18 +
-The kitchen area was open to the elements fridge microwave wet with the rain , no pans to cook with , and really needed a good clean throughout and the yurt as was not really a good enjoyable stay and had to leave early than planned due⁶ to being cold and are clothes being damp one the whole this was a very unpleasant stay
- Janet (8/5): Very good -
- Kenny (9/5): Superb -
- Angharad (7/5): Good -
- Dave (9/5): Superb -
- Natalie (10/5): Absolutely Magical - Just want to say a big thank you to Simon and his beautiful family for one of the best holidays in such a long time everything was perfect the yurt was beyond our expectations everything you could ever want to spectacular views fabulous rustic kitchen the list goes on can’t wait to visit again thank you again x Nothing (even got over at times) the odd crepey crawlers
- Helen (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah (10/5): THISTLEBANK YURT - Loved it here. Heated blanket on the bed, hot shower and hot water in the kitchen area. For first time glamping I would definitely stay here again. Close to Llangollen, the canal. Fridge in kitchen area, microwave, kettle, pots and pans, stove everything you need. Beautiful furnishings.
- Christopher (9/5): Fabulous relaxing and peaceful location to enjoy either the sunshine or the rain on the yurt canvas - Really comfy and inviting accommodation, equipped with everything you might need for a weekend break. Great location for walks, pubs and quick access into Llangollen. Loved our stay! The chemical toilet was a new one for us but not an insurmountable issue. There wasn't anything else we didnt enjoy!
- Janine (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic hideaway, ideal for getting away from reality. So close to Llangollen you can still have a taste of humanity, but really in this little sanctuary you won't want to.
- Rona (8/5): Enjoyable - It was something different Getting up to it in the car
- Kerry (9/5): Superb -
- Deborah (9/5): Very cute and cozy .little different which I loved - Location 5 mins in car to town ..views surrounded by green hills 😊 Hand towel in bathroom...would of been handy 😉
- Fiona (10/5): It was just perfect, we loved it. 🛖 - I loved everything. Clean, comfortable, friendly owners nothing too much trouble. Perfect location.
Ready to book again. Nothing.
- Susan (9/5): Great hosts and fab yurt. Loved the experience. - Loved the yurt and outside facilities. Great rural spot close to the canal for walking into town. The driveway and exit from the property was a bit tricky.
- Steve (8/5): Very good -
- David (10/5): A beautiful fairy kingdom getaway that’s perfect for rest and relaxation. - Absolutely stunning location with beautiful view and so peaceful. We will very likely stay again as our retreat when we need a break from society. Gets very hot in summer without ventilation. Also found we had to lift the door slightly to get the lock to work; easy once you know but initially a little confusing.
- Elaine (10/5): Exceptional - We loved every minute of our stay the location and the owners were lovely
- Callum (9/5): Superb -
- Sophie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sharon (9/5): Llangollen Lovers - The aesthetics of the place were spot on, with a lovely outdoor seating area. Super comfy bed and gorgeous setup inside the yurt. Nice and peaceful, my wife enjoyed a chat with the sheep in the neighbouring field, and we liked hearing an owl in the woods at night. A few cobwebs around the outside kitchen, but can't be helped, I guess, given the 'living with nature' setting.
- Annie (8/5): Comfy yurt in stunning location with convenient self catering facilities - Wonderful hosts and stunning location. Quiet, beautiful scenery, and comfortable furnishings made this trip very relaxing. Llangollen and its castle ruins are just a short five-minute drive away, as is the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. There are numerous high-quality pubs with riverside views nearby, and Chirk Castle is also worth a visit. There's no wifi and the lock to the yurt doesn't work. No toiletries (or towels) are included, so bring your own--and the kitchen amenities are sufficient but time-worn.
- Barry (9/5): Really Really enjoyed the experience. - Fantastic location and host was very friendly and gave advice on where to eat locally. Sign on road to show where the yurt was was too small but host guided us in.
We were expecting towels but none were provided, maybe we were naive as we were staying in Yurt not hotel or B&B?
- Clare (10/5): A little slice of heaven - Location was amazing. The Yurt was spacious, comfortable and well equipped. There was something magical being outside late into the night listening to owls and other wildlife. It was just the tonic to recharge our batteries. Would definitely recommend to others and would definitely stay there again. Location was so good we didn't need to use our car as all activities that we had planned we were able to get too by foot or by bus. That we couldn't stay for longer
