• Sally (1/5): Bad - Was a perfect location to attend my son's wedding at the White Hart Pub, also great location for touring and seeing sites. Lovely walk along the rhyne which runs alongside the cottage (as seen in picture) We were very excited to stay here as this was the first house my son owned (sold it in 2018). On arrival, the kitchen felt very grubby and poorly equipped (needed to go out and buy some glasses), mugs were stained, cutlery looked disgusting with black bits all over and stained, we didn't look in the oven, was too scary. Glad I brought my own washing up equipment, sponge left looked used and stained. The sitting room was grubby and curtains stopped half way down the window. The fireplace hadn't been cleaned. In the bathroom the hot tap was loose and the toilet stained. When having a shower, water did not drain away so presume drain full of dead hair, grease and other unimaginables. The main bedroom had plaster falling off the wall from ceiling to almost floor level by the window. The pictures on the wall were a bit odd, silhouette of naked women in varying poses, not pleasant. Lights didn't have shades, just bulbs dangling throughout the house. Blinds did not fit many of the windows. Then to add to it all, when I was getting ready for the wedding (blinds were very poor fitting) the scaffolders turned up to erect scaffold outside of the window. Had it not been for the convenient location we would not have stayed and booked into the very clean Travel Lodge in Burnham. Such a terrible shame as we were all so excited to go back and see the property. Honestly a courtesy email to apologise for the damp/poor state of repair and the warning of the scaffolders was surely pure courtesy, as would having a cleaner come in and prepare the property for guests. There was even an opened letter (among many not opened but looked like final demands) stating that the TV licence hadn't been paid (Feb 2025) and the licencing agency were in the process of investigating. We knew the area has poor mobile reception and internet, so WIFI would have been helpful, but when it came to it that was the least of our concerns. I am very surprised Booking.
• Magdalena (1/5): Bad - STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCAM PROPERTY We accidentally found out that we had no where to stay the same morning we were travelling. We contacted the property for better directions via booking.com and we had a text message from the owners that apparently there has been a water leak and the accommodation isn't available 😳 The owner claimed that they tried to contact us via email and our mobile but that never happened. No refund was issued. We had to explain to booking.com what is happening and thankfully based on the evidence provided we were issued a refund but had to wait 7 to 12 working for it. The owners never cancelled the booking via booking.com. We had to book somewhere else that day and pay again and took us 2 hours to sort everything out which really delayed our trip. Please stay away from this scam properly.
