Guest Reviews
- andrew (8/5): Great Location, comfortable hotel with pub vibe - Great Location, Helpful staff, limited parking, easy access to the town centre, comfortable rooms, good quality pub food. good selection of beers and well stocked bar, plenty of space in the bar, great vibe. Nothing to report
- Jehoszafat (5/5): Hotel has great location but you won’t get a good rest there. - Location and food at the bar. Noise from the bar, uncomfortable old mattress, breakfast severed only at 9am.
- Ian (5/5): - Location. Poor bed mattress.
- Mark (10/5): Great hotel for any training courses to book to get a good rest - size of room great, best shower had loads of room first one i fit into as over 6ft 4. bed was great best night sleep in long it (aka dont tell wife the that). Bar great 2 girls were great and help alot A++++++++++++ to them. beers A++++++++++. i got more courses 2 mins away. 110% i be back breakfast time as my course started at 8.45am, i be coming back that was only one thing 7am breakfast would been great.
- Maughan (8/5): -
- Richard (10/5): Great place - Great location friendly staff and spacious room Nothing
- Benjamin (4/5): Dirty and Noisy - Convenient location, friendly staff We ended leaving early because of a few reasons. The room didn’t feel clean, there was rubbish left over from previous guests including medication, it was very dusty, we used a hoover outside the room to clean it a bit. The cups and glasses left were dirty, shaving foam on the sink. Just lots of signs it hadn't been cleaned in a while.
The noise wasn't great. There was loud music above our room on arrival, I think it was a staff room, then the noise from downstairs meant we couldn't relax at all. We’d mentioned when booking that we were staying with a baby, so it would’ve been helpful to know in advance if noise could be an issue.
We understand it’s a pub, but we’ve stayed in plenty before and haven’t had these kinds of problems.
I've said all this to the pub and to the parent company but with no response.
- Roland (5/5): -
- Administrator (7/5): OK - Good location, food wasn't bad, rooms OK Rooms had clearly been refurbed but on a budget, furniture repainted, colleagues room had a small window but no blind, Bathroom was clean but very tired
- watson (8/5): Great place for a pit stop when travelling, they even have a screen with live updates on the train times in the bar - We were only there for one night and in that time we felt that whatever we needed or asked for was met with out a issue, the staff especially the staff member that was working when we arrived and served us our breakfast was so wonderful and welcoming.
- Nicholas (8/5): Very friendly staff and location was ideal - Location and friendly staff It was great
- Clare (9/5): Great find, good location and dog friendly......Brilliant!! - Extremely friendly staff and warm welcome.
Lovely decor/environment to be in
Our room was big and spacious and had clearly been recently decorated which gave it a nice fresh feeling. The bedding was spotless and we have never seen such a generous tea tray offered. Very quiet at night Nothing really, although perhaps the room was a little hot for a comfortable night's sleep (better that than cold though and it was our fault we hadn't realised the window did actually open! 😕)
The bathroom, inparticular the shower could do with a bit of attention.......

- lindsey (7/5): Great location, quiet spacious room, friendly staff. - Central to town and close to M6. Great stop over. Quiet room, helpful staff, and dog friendly. Loads of tea, coffee and milk and tiny bit by of toilet paper! No extras provided. Would have liked an information sheet in the room.
- Melvyn (10/5): Lovely break - Nice property central to everything Nothing
- Geoffrey (9/5): -
- Helen (10/5): - It was well situated for the town and travelling out of town. The staff were brilliant. Couldn’t do enough for us. Nothing
- Andy (9/5): Nice Break Away - The Agricultural Inn is in a great location on the edge of Penrith Town centre(5 Min walk into the centre and 2 mins walk from the train station)with a small car par outside , with really friendly staff who give you a warm welcome , the rooms are basic but spotlessly clean and have all the basic amenities you require for a short break in Penrith i wouldn't hesitate in staying there again , Breakfast is offered as an extra so its just breakfast not a buffet one but it was freshly cooked and nice I had nothing to complain about
- summers (10/5): -
- Alison (5/5): Basic - Great location with free parking Room really needed refurbishing, dated. No mirror in bedroom. Facilities basic. Was ok but wouldn’t stay again
- Sarah (7/5): Fine room in good location - Great location and very friendly staff, everything you need for a short stay provided Mattress was not very comfortable
- Brenda Barbara (8/5): Met my needs - Couldn't stay for breakfast
- Keegan (10/5): - It was very close to all the other bars. It was right in the centre. The staff are friendly and overall it was a nice atmosphere and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The prices were also reasonable. I can't really think of anything because it was perfect
- Stott (7/5): Good stay in general. - Good location, good selection of beers. Could do with a bit more attention to room cleaning and some general maintenance. Stair carpet really lets the side down.
Breakfast was a bit pricey. No cereal / Juice etc, just a fry up with hot drinks extra making it £12 a head.
- Sandra (2/5): Not to be repeated - The wallpaper looked nice in the photos online The room wasn’t clean, when you opened the shower door it was unclean around the bottom and once in the shower when you shut the door and looked down it was filthy. We were so cold we wore our day clothes in bed to get warm. The carpet on the stairs going to the rooms was filthy, the hand rail was dirty.
The staff we saw when booking in were pleasant
- Jordan (10/5): - Staff were really sound. The decor was on point. Beer well kept. Room clean and not dingy. Good location for base point as we were going to a gig up the road. Really pleased with our stay. Can't really answer this :)
- Angelo (9/5): -
- Catherine (9/5): The attention to guest comfort was excellent cosy and welcoming -
- Lynne (10/5): Great - Food location room Nothing
- David (8/5): A well situated reasonably priced comfortable accommodation. - The location is excellent. The pub is characterful with four hand pulled ales. Food was perfectly agreeable.
- Andrew (10/5): The Agricultural Inn is the best place to stay in Penrith - The Agricultural Inn is in an excellent location - easy to get to by train car or bus and just a few minutes walk from the town. It’s a great place to stay if you want to go to Keswick, Cockermouth, Carlisle or the lakes with quick and easy public transport within walking distance. Inside, the inn is exactly what you hope for from a country pub - rustic, warm and welcoming.
The team is fantastic and friendly and the prices are more than reasonable.
Dogs are welcomed which was a real plus for us.
- Diane (8/5): -
- Louise (7/5): - The coffee machine and pods in the room, short walk into town and castle across the road. The bed was uncomfortable and the room could do with some soundproofing
- Dodd (9/5): - Absolutely loved the room,
All I needed and more
Not noisy at all
Staff were absolutely brilliant with me, so pass on my thanks
I'll definitely stay again
- Linda (8/5): - The friendliness of all the staff and the very convenient position of the inn. Secure parking was a bonus.
The room although small had everything that was needed including a super large TV with all streaming channels.Plenty of electric sockets which is lacking in most accommodations we have stayed. The bed was extremely creaky and could do with being replaced.
- Frederick (10/5): - Chaleureux et amicale Rien
- Thomas (3/5): Not for us. - Location. Good variety and quantity of teas and coffees.. Good WiFi. Room 4. Dreadful bed. Creaked every time either of us moved. Really needs replaced. I mentioned it to a member of staff when we left who agreed and told us they were planning to replace it. Extractor fan and heater in the bathroom didn't work. Doors and door handles creaked - easily fixed with a quick spray of WD-40.. Stair carpet very grubby.. TV so high up on the wall it almost touched the ceiling.. Bottle bin outside emptied at 7am.
Would we stay here again? What do you think?
- Graeme (9/5): -
- Mark (8/5): Served our purposes well. Good location. - Did not have breakfast, good location for Penrith centre and rail network Bed not the comfiest, mattress a bit soft for me.

- Steven (9/5): Comfortable and relaxing - Noce clean rooms which had a small fridge, coffee machine with everything provided and also 2 x bottles of water. Room was very comfortable and the staff where very friendly and made you feel comfortable. The food was also nice in the comfortable bar.
- Jackie (9/5): - Lovely large rooms. High ceilings,
Good shower, great staff, comfortable beds, nice view of castle, easy free car parking, dog friendly. Great prompt breakfast with extra coffees to take away. Hooks on back of doors in bedroom and bathroom would be helpful.
+ Venetian blinds would be appreciated in bedroom as well as curtains. Check in given priority in front of bar queue is perhaps a thought as after a long journey with luggage it's a bit stressful.
- Stuart (8/5): Short but sweet stay - Very welcoming. Clean. Period property Open fire
- Pauline (8/5): A convenient option in Penrith - Our check in welcome was warm, quick and easy.
We had a nicely decorated, cosy, spacious room with a copious selection of drinks.
The downstairs pub had enough food options to keep us happy. We had everything we needed without leaving the premises on a cold, rainy night. Although the ingredients were of good quality, the breakfast bacon and egg roll was too thickly buttered for me. I left the greasy bread.
- Euan (10/5): Great place to stop for work - Location
- Peggy (7/5): It was convenient and we chose the place because it was dog friendly - It was dog friendly The meal in the restaurant wasn’t great . Our room was quite noisy.

- Gabrielle (10/5): Comfortable Stay with our Dog. - Great pub with friendly and welcoming staff. Our Australian Kelpie Alba was made to feel welcome and comfortable. Meals were lovely and Guinness fresh. The room was warm, big, clean and comfortable for both of us and our dog. Bed super comfortable and warm, bathroom was clean and towels fresh and big. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate in the room was a added bonus. Thanks for a great night's stay. Will definitely be back when next down over the border. Everything was great, no complaints at all.

- Jane (10/5): Lovely comfortable room. The food was excellent - We had eaten at the Agricultural in the past but not stayed there before. Meg and Thomas made us welcome right from the start. Lovely comfortable room. The food was excellent - we ate there the first night and had planned to go out on our second night but decided there was everything we needed at home! Great grill menu with steaks cooked perfectly.
- Patricia (10/5): -
- phillip (8/5): Good place for what we needed - Room, breakfast, cleanliness, location. Bed was too small. Although I should have realised beforehand as it was a double bed.
- Judith (6/5): -
- Ken (5/5): Wrong choice for me - It was near the centre It is a pub with rooms, it was extremely noisy until very late
- Mark (10/5): - Really great value for money, had everything you would need, friendly staff, good food, reasonable priced beer.
- Rebecca (10/5): Excellent hospitality - The host was absolutely fantastic, the food was excellent and the room was lovely and comfortable. We travelled with 2 dogs and when we sat down for lunch they were given a dog bed and a bowl of water.
I cannot recommend this highly enough. The only very slight negative was the door at the top of the stairs which shut with a loud bang and woke us up, but that's it. The rest of the Inn was just amazing.
- Andrew (10/5): Best place to stay in Penrith lovely rooms staff and food would highly recommend 10/10 - Lovely room lovely staff best place 2 stay In Penrith best value for money Nothing
- Sam (9/5): Great time! - Great location and nice spacious rooms! Vegan options weren't great, so we didn't eat at the inn.

- Sie666 (8/5): -
- Peter (9/5): -
- Driscoll (10/5): - Everything Nothing. Great place to stay.
- April (10/5): - The staff were absolutely amazing. Great craic!
- David (7/5): It was fine , a good stopover location. - Location is good, convenient for town and motorway access. Nice bar, good food. Pleasant staff.
Spacious room & good size bathroom. Comfy bed. Didn’t seem to have a bathmat, so puddle on bathroom floor due to shower door opening outwards.
Some old food (chips) were left in the room fridge, presumably by guests the previous night! Not a big issue though. Otherwise no problems.
- Theresa (9/5): -
- Geoffrey (7/5): Nice break in Penrith. - Location was very good, close to station.
Breakfast was good.
Plenty coffee, hot chocolate etc., in room.
Nice room.
Good choice of pubs in Penrith. Evening meals could have been much better.
