Guest Reviews
- Melissa (9/5): Very comfortable property and very pleasant host. We really enjoyed our stay and will likely book again :-) - Location, cleanliness, quality TV, decor was beautiful No Flyscreen on front door and no outside light to use the BBQ
- Teagrah (10/5): Peaceful relaxing and comfortable - Everything is amazing!
It was exceptionally clean, very relaxing and quiet perfect for that get away of tranquillity and very comfortable Nothing everything was amazing
- Markus (7/5): An impersonal stay, and we did not feel welcome - Very quiet and close to Bouddi National Park, but we would not book this accommodation again. The stay felt very impersonal, which is not what we expect from a private accommodation. There was no information provided about the surroundings. Our apartment had two internal doors connecting to the main house, and we heard noise from both sides, sometimes early in the morning and sometimes in the evening. We hardly touched the breakfast in the fridge apart from a few slices of bread, as everything was decanted into unlabelled containers, so we couldn’t tell the quality of the juice, jam or butter. There was no cooktop, only a microwave, which made even breakfast preparation quite limited.
We asked to do a load of laundry because, due to the situation in Iran, we had to take a detour and an extended journey home. We were charged 20 dollars to use the laundry room, which felt excessive. We also wanted to use the barbecue, but it hadn’t been cleaned. Overall, we didn’t feel welcome. Everything was handled contactless due to COVID measures, which we found difficult to understand in 2026.
- Chris (10/5): Perfect. Charming. Fairytale - Amazing location. Amazing facilities. Amazing amenities. Complimentary fresh milk, orange juice, jams, and bread Nothing it was perfect
- Greg (9/5): Great value, clean, spacious accomodation. - Clean and spacious, private accommodation. Lovely, green, garden outlook. Provided everything we needed. Good continental breakfast supplies provided. Bed was a bit too firm.
- Elisabeth Everdina Gerarda (10/5): Fantastische B&B - Alles, hele mooie B&B met alles erop en eraan. Fantastische omgeving. Niets
- Stuart (10/5): - Fantastic room - clean, quiet and comfortable. Perfect weekend escape and the goats are so cute! Nothing, was just right!
- Lindy (9/5): -
- Lara (9/5): - Located in such a peaceful location surrounded by beautiful gardens and close to Bouddi NP. The hosts were lovely. Would have been great to have an electric frypan to cook with.
- Roci (10/5): Midweek stay - Location, cleanliness hospitality and the general feel. Mike was very accommodating.
- Jack (10/5): An amazing getaway with clean facilities and goats nearby!!! -
- Stella (8/5): -
- Frank (10/5): -
- Mark (7/5): -
- Jerzy Jurek (8/5): Good place to stay to explore the Bouddi National Park - Nice and very clean apartment attached to the hosts' house, small but functional kitchen. Verry close to the Bouddi National Park. Restaurants in Hardys Bay and Ettalong Beach. A few mozzies around.
- Belinda (9/5): Almost perfect and we will come again - Location setting pool comfort Fan setting wasn’t working properly. Lights from neighbouring family unit lighted up our room at night
- Naomi (10/5): -
- Gaurav (10/5): - Everything was exceptional! Clean, quiet and beautiful place to wind down and relax!
- Marian (9/5): A hidden gem. - Loved our stay here, the peaceful environment, balcony, the cleanliness, the provided breakfast of fresh fruit, cereals, bread, croissants, crumpets as well as marmalade, jam, vegemite, orange juice, plentiful fresh milk, coffee and tea were all terrific. Great shower and products and the towels too were thick and plentiful and really, all our requirements were more than met. It was also a mere 2 minute drive to "Bells" where a family wedding was taking place and communication with the hosts regarding entry was easy. All pretty perfect! My only comment in this category is that while the bed was very comfy with a stable mattress ( greatly appreciate not feeling my partner's every move!) the duvet could be one size larger for better coverage. But that's a minor observation.
- James (8/5): -
- Chris (10/5): Peaceful, relaxing, and handy location next to the National Park. - It was a very tranquil feeling like we were in a rainforest and the location was close to the Bouddi Coastal Walk. It was great we could feed the goats our fruit scraps. Nothing.
- Rodney (10/5): Exceptional - The place is beautiful. Mike is an exceptional host, caring and very communicative even during a weekend away. Most accommodating. It is an immaculate place and 60m from a community run 5 Star coffee van which was an unexpected bonus. There is an excellent bushwalk and lookout over the road. It is close to Bells of Killcare which is a ten minute walk. Mike also kindly left croissants and breakfast, including fresh milk, juice and fruit. If only every accommodation lived up to this standard. I hope to be back: 110%!
- Jenny (9/5): -
- Bethany (10/5): A secluded stay with the National Park right on your doorstep! - Immaculate property that was well equipped. The space was a lot bigger than I thought which was great and the area surrounding the space is stunning, lots of birds and wildlife - and some cute goats! It is within walking distance to some beautiful bush walks, beaches and lookouts as well as being a short drive away from local towns. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, both the property and the hosts communication were fantastic. Plates for breakfast would have been handy but as soon as we asked Mike for them he was able to supply - which was great.
- Paul (10/5): -
- Heather (9/5): Stay was nice and comfortable and had a well stocked breakfast - We liked how clean it was and how quiet the area is. It was comfortable and well maintained. The breakfast supplied was good. The only thing we didn't like was that power tools were used while we were there.
- Jane (10/5): A warm welcome from Mike on arrival. And a very comfortable stay. Highly recommend. - A very comfortable cottage with all the little touches that mean a lot. Beautifully decorated and a homely feel. Also a lovely country setting looking out onto garden and bushland. Fridge was stocked with 3 different cereals for breakfast, milk, orange juice, multi grain bread, croissants, butter and spreads, and a bowl with fruit.
- Lindy (10/5): Lovely and well equipped studio. Very quiet, would definitely return. - Beautiful decor and has everything you need.
- Barbara (9/5): - Outdoor area, layout, breakfast, facilities, location, Small bed mattress
- Gina (10/5): -
- Julie (10/5): - Loved how breakfast tea coffee fresh juice was provided with our stay, loved the host very very accommodating informative c.coast all close enough to town beautiful location. Looking forward to going back.
Mike & Jeannette are great. Couldn't stay longer, but will ensure next time
- John (10/5): A wonderful escape destination - perfect for a couples break. 5* - Wow. What a wonderful stay. Clean, comfortable & quiet with a lovely continental breckie / fruit / juice included.
Fabulous location right next to Bouddi National Park - with terrific walks & magnificent scenery. Excellent coffee van a short stroll from the location.
So glad we booked our weekend escape at Amberlyn - we’ll definitely be back.
Thanks so much Mike and Jeannette. 🙏
- Nilesh (8/5): Great - Clean neat and tidy It’s a good property. Could be beneficial to have carport for guest parking.
- Shailendra (9/5): Superb -
- Ke (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kfharg (10/5): Bouddi Bliss - It was our second time staying at Amberlyn Escapes and we had another great stay - thanks Mike and Jeannette!
The location is great. We loved the breakfast supplies provided. Check in is super easy. It had everything we needed. Thank you! N/A
- Cheryl (10/5): Perfect little getaway - right on the national park - Amazing location - very peaceful
- Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional - A quiet and pretty location. The apartment was stylish, well-appointed and roomy. Check-in and out was easy. On-site parking a plus.
- Janaka (10/5): Leasure stay next to national park - Clean and tidy stay, recently renovated property.
Can recomend for any one looking enjoyable stay. National park and beaches are walking distance.
- Naomi (8/5): Very good -
- Karen (10/5): Perfect 2 day break. - We appreciated the generous breakfast supplies and fruit. The pool was really enjoyable. As we were booked for lunch and a dinner at Bells the location was perfect. We had not explored the area much before and look forward to coming back again as there is much to do and see. Everything was excellent
- Rick (8/5): Accommodation was a good base to explore the central coast, go for walks and visit beaches. - Breakfast was good and ample. Nothing in particular.
- Bruce (10/5): Superb on All Counts. - We loved everything about Amberlyn Escapes from location to facilities and the hosts.
The location was perfect for us busting family in Woy Woy and exploring the Central Coast region including being within easy reach of so many stunning beaches. The location is also so quiet what a pleasure to listen to the wonderful bird song, kookaburra included!
The facilities and cleanliness are superb just what we were looking for. Mike and Jeanette were brilliant hosts, they were there when you needed them otherwise you would not know they were there.
We would have no hesitation in booking again. In fact we tried for when we returned to the area after a couple of weeks away and we could not - they were fully booked! Nothing except leaving!
- Colin (10/5): Perfect for a few nights stay in the bush. - Lovely self-contained 'studio' accommodation with ensuite bathroom, a well stocked kitchenette (microwave, no oven/cooktop), small deck onto the garden and parking. Very clean, fresh and welcoming. Set amongst a few other properties along a private bush road. A wonderful location close to bush walking and adjacent to Arnie's coffee caravan in a bush setting (great coffee). We liked everything and would love to come back.
- Prinella (9/5): Superb -
- Hilary (10/5): Home Away From Home - The room was beautifully decorated and had everything that you needed for your stay.
In fact they went above and beyond by providing extra toiletries in case you had forgotten your own.
The breakfast included offered a great selection of cereal, fruits and toast with butter, jams and vegemite. Fresh juice, milk, tea and coffee.
The location was fantastic as we were attending a wedding at Bells at Killcare. The only thing we would suggest is that the house number could have been bigger making it easier to find as the road is a shared residence road.
- Tracy (10/5): We felt totally at easy and welcome in this lovely spot will definitely visit again. - What a great weekend getaway spot. Absolutely lovely hosts who gave us our space and at the same time were very welcoming and approachable. Beautifully space and feeding the goats was such a treat for my daughter.
- Alejandra (9/5): Superb - The place was nice and clean, also very close to a National park and beaches
- Christine (8/5): Very good - quite, very clean accommodation, never met the host's but that's ok. disappointed the pool area was not clean and pool not warm as advertised or clean
- Donna (10/5): Perfect location, wonderful hosts, beautiful room 😀 - The location was perfect - quiet and serene. Jeanette and Matt are lovely hosts and the room was spotlessly clean. We married the weekend before and arrived to chocolate, wine and a roses in the room. A very sweet gesture!
- Allan (10/5): An excellent BnB - We spent a couple of nights in this excellent accommodation. Great location and presentation, with a good self-serve continental breakfast provided in the room. Very comfortable and extremely quiet in a bush and garden setting. A short car trip to the beach or Brisbane Water.
- Gillian (9/5): This was probably one of the nicest stays we have been in, Mike the host is very reponsive. it is a - The location was right where we wanted to be, close to pretty beach etc.
The breakfast was fantastic, good quality food items and lovely fruit bowl.
Also a very good selection of choices. Easy parking and nice private entrance. nothing. It had everything a guest would need.
- Linda (10/5): Every now and then you find a gem, this was it! - Amberlyn Escapes is by far one of the very best properties I have stayed at. At last, I found a place that exceeded my expectations. A generously provided kitchen, Netflix, tranquility - what more could one want? I absolutely loved this treasure. Highly recommended.
- Gail (9/5): Lovely accommodation, would recommend - Quiet comfortable and well provisioned
- Kathleen (9/5): We enjoy the close proximity to boudhi national park as we enjoy hiking -
- Maritsa (10/5): Best couples get away spot - The location and unit is amazing. Really good value for money. There are so many little things that make it very special and luxurious. It's a beautiful area and very quiet and tranquil. The unit has been very generously stocked, nice and quality breakfast options and nice thick ply toilet paper etc. Lots of electrical plug points and little things that make it comfortable. A nice welcome message on the board in the kitchen area. Goats and ducks around and a nice balcony area to enjoy meals in. Thanks so much! We will be back for sure! Nothing. It was all amazing!
- Phil (9/5): Quiet location surrounded by some neat scenery. Accomodation clean, bed comfortable. - With this bed & breakfast, breakfast was supplied! It was a quiet location walking distance to some great bush walks. There is much to see within a small area. Nothing really, its a bit of the beaten track. Shops are a distance away so shop before arriving.
- Jacob (10/5): Exceptional - Clean, comfortable and classy. Photos under sell how nice this place was. And the breakfast was a nice touch.
- Marcia (8/5): I like the place and the owner’s friend Philip is friendly. Without the noisy experience it would be perfect. - Good location and easy to get to the national park and coastal trails. I like all about the facilities where was supposed to be so quiet because it’s almost one part of the national park, but the neighbour was a little bit noisy. When we arrived there they did two hour karaoke like music festival in the afternoon. The next morning they did some garden work with noisy engines on.
- Mark (6/5): Pleasant -
- Mariquita (9/5): Perfect for those who love nature. - We liked that they offered a variety of food and drinks to choose from, such as great coffee, good quality bread, croissants, orange juice, butter and Nuttelex, jam, Vegemite, marmalade, cereals, tea and chilled water. One of us is vegan, so we appreciated the Nuttelex being available.
They also gave extras to make our stay comfortable, including insect repellant, a BBQ and streaming services with available Wi-Fi, including Stan and Disney.
Other items to help our stay to be more comfortable, included a hair dryer, iron board and cleaning products. Information brochures were on hand to let us know what we could do in the area.
The location was amazing, with the Maitland information centre within a short walking distance, which is the starting point for several coastal bush walks in the Bouddi national forest. A coffee caravan was just around the corner. The owners allowed us to enjoy their gardens and feed their goats. Most things and more were provided, but there were a couple of things that would have been useful also, including cereal bowls for the cereal and a bread knife. On the information sheet, a list of local churches with Mass and service times would have been useful. The internet dropped out at times.
- Peter (10/5): Relaxing and very enjoyable - Excellent location and very friendly hosts
- Park (7/5): Good -
- Stephen (10/5): A beautiful and convenient option - A beautiful location if you like a natural and quiet spot. The hosts are friendly and accommodating. The stay is just across the road from the Maitland Bay walk and minutes away from Killcare Beach, Hardys Bay, Pretty Beach etc. Nothing to dislike really
- Graham (9/5): Delightful hosts, Perfect for a three night stay. - The suite had been so thoughtfully equipped. Everything had been carefully thought through. Very comfortable bed and chair. Large wardrobe hanging and storage space. Beautiful bathroom.
Appreciated the loaf of bread, orange juice, croissants, fresh milk, etc.
Loved the sliding door to a private deck. Beautiful bushland / garden outlook.
- Doyle (8/5): Very good - Very nice Not good reception and no BBQ or stove
- David (10/5): Nice, comfortable stay for four nights. - Well stocked pantry and fridge for breakfasts. Nicely appointed kitchenette. Not a large minus, but the driveway was extremely difficult to find in the dark.
- Kim (8/5): 3 night stay with my daughter . Calm and peaceful! - Peaceful
Lovely and clean
Comfortable
Close to beaches
- Beverley (10/5): The beach was close and handy - Breakfast was excellent very peaceful Love the ground’s accommodation
- Greg (8/5): Very good - Location, close to NP. Mosquitoes
- Robert (9/5): Enjoyed my stay. Would be my choice again when I return to the region. - Excellent Location. The provision of a loaf of bread, milk, butter and croissants was appreciated. As well as insect sprays. The amount of mosquitoes outside was pretty intense. (Not that there could be anything done about that). It meant I could not enjoy the outside setting.
- Flood (10/5): Rest Relax Perfection - Amberlyn was a tranquil , serene getaway. Exactly what I needed . The bird life , the quietness . Beautiful location close enough ( 5 minutes to the beach ) but far enough away from things to make it perfect for an escape from the world.
- Gould (10/5): Beautiful country side trip support by excellent hospitality. - Thoughtful details waiting for us at check in. The property was clean, tidy and had everything we needed and more. The only thing I would say I didn’t like was the mosquitos which is totally out of the owners control and the owners were amazing in providing us with reppellent and fly spray
- Hayley (10/5): Amazing! - Amazing value, area, and home. We loved the goats too! The hosts were kind and we felt very welcomed.
- Anne (10/5): Exceptional - The place was quiet, clean and it's got everything you need in a house. There are mosquitos as it is inside the Bouddi National Park.
- Caroline (9/5): A comfortable stay in Killcare Heights - Comfortable, clean, well equipped, nice breakfast nook, good location, quiet, comfortable bed, AC and ceiling fans, good shower, outside balcony,. The unit felt welcoming Mosquitoes
Lack of a small sofa or easy chairs for watching tv, lounging
Lack of a full sized wall mirror
- Sarra (10/5): Exceptional - Communication with Hosts was great - I made the reservation very last minute and Mike and Jeannette were not there, but Philip was very helpful and a great host! Breakfast was super, with fruits, bread juice etc. The place is also very close to several beautiful beaches!
- Jodie (8/5): Very good - The accommodation was a good size and very comfortable, had everything we were looking for. The location was great for Bouddi Coastal Walk. There was noise carry through from the house/main residence at times when the hosts were using the adjoining living room (or kitchen perhaps), as it's just a door separating them from the guest room.
- Lillian (10/5): A Real Gem. - A real gem. Spotless, very comfortable, with everything we could need. Wonderfully quiet except for birdsong. Coupled with blissful views in the surrounding gardens visible from each window. We loved it! Nothing!
- Coralie (8/5): Very good -
- Julie (10/5): Will definitely book again. - Attention to detail was amazing. Lots of little touches like a chocolate beside the bed. Great breakfast of juice, toast and cereal and tea and coffee. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Will be back. Cannot think of anything that needs to be improved.
- Alethea (9/5): Would love to go back and would highly recommend - Loved the location beside the national park, sitting on the deck enjoying the trees and birdsong and meeting the goats.
- Claudia (9/5): Superb - Close to NP, good breakfast items, quiet, very clean.
- John (7/5): Quite a nice spot. - Great for walking Bouddi National Park. Comfortable bed and room. Breakfast was promised in the write up, and there was milk and cereal. No fruit or bread though, which would have been expected.
- Anonymous (10/5): I had the most relaxing time away, with so many gorgeous walks and beaches at my doorstep. - The property was so gorgeous, it was the perfect relaxing escape. The location is amazing being so close to the national park and lots of beautiful beaches. The place was very homely, calming and even had complimentary breakfast. Mike and Jeanette were also lovely to deal with. Highly recommend!
