- Richard (10/5): Fantastic villa with excellent hosts. - Villa Bartolomeo is fantastic. Great accommodation and the pool - wow! We're a family of 7 and the house was perfect for us. Every morning, I swam for 30 mins before the others started to emerge from their slumbers. We had a slow start and then headed out in the afternoon to visit a historical city (Modica, Scicli, Ragusa, Syracusa, Noto) or beach (Sampieri, Marina, di Ragusa, Lido di Noto, Gelsomineto). Sandra, the owner, is a fantastic host, communicating directly and also via Eduardo, the local Sicilian contact. The villa sits on a 1 acre plot with olive, lemon and orange trees. The welcome pack included their own olive oil, passata, herbs, limoncello and red wine. The location is excellent, with so much within 45-60 minutes drive. The Pozzallo ferry is only 20 minutes away so you can fly in via Malta or take a day trip to Malta. Nothing. There was an issue with the water heater which was fixed straight away when Eduardo called in a local plumber. And, this was quite late on the evening when we arrived. Even the swimming pool is cleaned mid-week.
