Guest Reviews
- Siobhan (10/5): - Absolutely beautiful location with lovely relaxed hosts. Wish I lived there. Stayed with four children and felt very relaxed. The house has lots of character and the surroundings are both beautiful and tranquil. Nothing. Everything was lovely.
- Maureen (4/5): To be honest hot water and heating should have been in place and not controlled by the ownershave been available - Lovely location and very peaceful So there was no heating on in the property as we were told it was controlled by the owners next door. There was no hot water for the bath or hand basins as we had to text or phone the owners to switch it on which as a party of six people attending a wedding on a very wet two days was unacceptable . On return from venue twin bed room had wet bedding due to damp and rain.

- Chelsie (10/5): Really lovely place, perfect for what we needed - Really loved it here. There was 7 of us and plenty of space for a weekend we were at a wedding at healey barn and was a great location to there. Would 100% stop again.
- Michael (9/5): Lovely nights stay, Ady the host couldn’t do enough for us even asking what time we would be in so he could put the heat - Great size with lots of space for a family or group of friends Nothing
- Tom (9/5): Great few days in brilliant location that won hearts on arrival. - Great place, beautiful property with great amenities especially bathrooms. The peacocks and other bird life special bonuses. Not much really, a bit more information on how to dispose of things like excess foodstuffs… teenagers! Not really a problem eventually as host said no problem and disposed of them. He was a pleasure to deal with
- Mark (8/5): Perfect location for Healey Barn Wedding - Perfect location for Healey Barn No oven/conventional cooker
- Dennis (10/5): -
- Emily (9/5): Lovely stay.Thank you. - Beautiful grounds and location. Loved the peacocks roaming (along with other wildlife). It was very calm and peaceful. We were made welcome by the host who was communicative from time of booking. We stayed for a night due to attending a wedding and it was perfect for this.
- Susan (9/5): Beautiful family type cottage, would definitely stay again if the occasion arose - It was so peaceful and serene. Host was extremely helpful and pleasant. Loved the peacocks wandering around, not so much their noise though! We were there for family wedding a couple of miles away and it was the ideal location to be situated. Nothing to really comment on
- Barbara (8/5): Very comfortable for a short stay. Great location to visit many Northumberland sites. - Location was lovely and the cottage was furnished well. the living room had good radiators but still felt chilly at times due to the size of the room . The peacocks in the garden were beautiful The house was quite cold on arrival and the living area still felt chilly at times even when all other rooms were warm. Radiators worked well and there were lovely throws to use too so it was not a problem. The kitchen was very small but functional for our brief stay . A note regarding recycling would have been useful .
- Kirsty (10/5): Brilliant -
- Janet (8/5): Weekend of a wedding - Lovely location, lovely host. Well supplied. It was rather cold, the radiators needed to come on much earlier in the morning to warm the house before you get up.
- Jennifer (9/5): Peaceful and beautiful - Beautiful building and grounds. The furniture and artwork is lovely to see.
- Peter (8/5): A lovely place to stay in quiet seclusion - highly recommended - An amazing secluded quiet location and a very comfortable, cosy, well appointed cottage which suited us perfectly welcomed by a helpful , friendly host next door .
If not self catering anyone staying needs a car or taxi to get to the nearest pub/restaurant at Riding Mill Nothing - although better directions would have been helpful.
- David (9/5): Fantastic stay. - Lovely grounds. Property lovely and clean and well equipped. Hosts great , approachable and helpful. Bed in one room was a bit hard and creaky.
- Harry (10/5): Exceptional - Beds, aesthetics and grounds were beautiful
- Hugh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Helen (8/5): Very good - Cold during the night
- Colin (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely property. Wonderfully friendly host.
- Paul (6/5): Lovely welcome nice rooms but no kitchen. - Rooms were good 👍 but they had not been cleared of the proprietors possession in the drawers and wardrobes See above. - lack of a cooker a real disappointment though the proprietor told us it was in the description.
You don’t expect self catering properties to lack cooking facilities.
- Judith (10/5): Beautiful amazing fantastic - Stayed for 2 nights for daughter’s wedding at Healey Barn.
Beautiful cottage and gardens with peacocks and fantastic location. Plenty of parking.
Very clean and comfortable.
Owner was amazingly welcoming and even dropped off a bottle of champagne for my daughter.
Would definitely stay again and would recommend it. Had a kitchenette but no stove. But I knew that beforehand so took my Ninja multi cooker and it wasn’t an issue.
- James (10/5): peace and tranquility with the peacocks - peacocks spacious garden and the style cottaging the rain but didn’t put off my stay overall
- Philippa (9/5): Superb -
- Neil (9/5): great place for a short break - lovely spacious house. N/A
- Andrew (7/5): Would still recommend the property, just maybe more awareness of lack of amenities. Having no kitchen was a disappoint, - Location was fantastic if you’re wanting quiet and no light pollution for great for star gazing, big living room and bedroom/bathroom ratio was ideal. On site parking, behind locked gates; always a bonus. Was pretty chilly, was told on arrival, heating controlled by property owner. So if early riser and home early, then sometimes no heating which made it cold, especially in such a large property. Also, no kitchen?! No cooking oven or hob for cooking, only a microwave and toaster, perhaps our fault for not checking, just assumed, so food bought to cook, and ended up being expensive on food as eating out and ordering a take away.
No place to wash up. Was told on arrival that dishes to be left out to be washed, and by day 2 we were down to 3 mugs left, as dirty pots were not collected.
- Katharine (9/5): Relaxing, homely accommodation. - Peaceful location. Great outdoor space to explore
