- John (10/5): Lovely cottage. Excellent -
- Mike (9/5): Fantastic overnight stay in lovely village with very helpful and attentive proprietors. - Very cute traditional Croft type cottage. Tastefully modernised. With fantastic riverside dog walks and stylish pub / hotel. Property was clean and tidy with nice back garden. Noting really the second double bed might be a little smug for some couples.
- Normperta (7/5): Lovely budget friendly accommodation - Great location Took a while to heat up but once hot it was lovely
- Amanda (4/5): Dissatisfied - Smart tv
Spacious
Dog friendly
Generous goodie basket Although it’s been decorated modern style with nice touches, unfortunately lot of underlying issues …
Damp mould especially in the shower room ( actually quite disgusting wish I’d taken pic to prove this)
Front Door didn’t feel very secure and the back door definitely is not.
Would not have felt comfortable if staying on my own.
Cold on arrival tho extra heaters did help with that.
Sadly Won’t be returning.

Clean and everything you need, we would have loved to have stayed longer but we are on the nc500 trip so lots to see and do. Would definitely recommend to family and friends 🫶🏻
- David (9/5): - Everything. Nothing
- Kerrie (9/5): Once we finally found the place our stay was excellent - We could not find this property via GPS possibly due to address and contact in Booking.com. The owner actually drove to where we we and guided us to the property and let us in. This kind act speaks for itself Wi-Fi was dodgy and cut out after which we coukd not reconnect
- john (10/5): Nice little cottage - Good location , It had plenty of space, and comfortable beds. Nothing really , wife would have liked a easy to use microwave, also cooker a bit slow to heat up
- Jane (7/5): Convenient, comfy, peaceful. - Comfy bed. The back garden is an accident waiting to happen.

- Moroney (7/5): A short but pleasant stay. - Lovely comfortable beds Unable to get wifi working.
- Frances (10/5): - Quiet location, thoughtful decor, reclining armchair, fully equipped kitchen, price of stay Main bedroom slight odour of damp. Electric heating didn't come on in main bedroom. Chose to sleep in smaller cosy double room at back of house. Electricity off on morning of leaving, so unable to have hot drink, breakfast, make up flask for long journey.
- Gabriele (10/5): Absolut empfehlenswert - Liebevoll eingerichtetes komfortables Häuschen, war alles vorhanden, was man benötigt. Leider waren wir nur eine Nacht dort, es ist auch für einen längeren Aufenthalt sehr zu empfehlen.

- Ian (10/5): Lovely cottage, a home from home - Well appointed, good sized rooms and very comfortable beds. Nice to have a CD player too! Very easy parking.
- David (9/5): Superb -
- Kennedy (9/5): Very good - Cottage was excellent and host had thought of everything when it came to equipping the property. Cottage was very comfortable.
Location was quiet but that was not an issue for us.
Very well stocked local shop available for self catering. Also the local hotel was very nice for food. There was a slight miscommunication regarding the key safe details. I was expecting the details to come through to my husband's mobile whereas it came through via an an e mail to my I Pad which I was unable to access.
Problem was sorted promptly by host who also kindly messaged us to check that we had gained entry to the property without any issues.
- Angela (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely cottage in quiet area but easy to get to places. Beds were so comfy will be back
- Peter (5/5): Fine for a short stay - Handy stop over if you are doing the NC500. Good wifi and comfortable bed Bathroom could do with a makeover
- Kirsten (10/5): Beautiful cottage ideal location for ferry to Orkney - Gorgeous cottage in a perfect for our needs location
It had everything we could have wanted to use . Morrisons round the corner , hotel at bottom of the street which had amazing food . I wouldn't say we disliked but the shower was tricky struggled with temperature either too hot or cold .
We only have a short overnight stay
- Danielle (10/5): Amazing cottage to stay, had everything you needed. Very comfortable beds - Everything was perfect, had everything you need Nothing!
- Marcia (9/5): Superb -
- Diana (6/5): Pleasant - Good sized accommodation with nice furnishings and lots of extra wee touches. Bathroom is in desperate need of work. Decor could really do with a freshen up as very tired and grubby in places. So much more could be made of the large garden overlooking the river.
- Richard (9/5): Beautiful cottage with everything you could need. Great value fro money, would defanately stay again - Beautiful cottage with everything you could need. Great value fro money, would defanately stay again if in that area. Back garden needs some work doing to it.
- David (10/5): A well presented, comfortable and tastfully decorated. we needed for nothing - The location was perfect for our needs. Key box details were emailed in good time for our stay Nothing - we found the property perfect in every respect
- Fricker (9/5): Lovely house that was very reasonably priced. - Apart from the confusion over getting the code for the key lock this was a great place with a Morrisons just around the corner. We didn't try out the TV but it seemed to have everything you could need. The kitchen was great, well equipped. We didn't go into the garden as we could see lots of insects but a little walk down to the bridge was good with our dog. Highly recommended! Nothing!
- Yvonne (10/5): Great venue would definitely stay again - It was great value, the village is well placed for doing the sights around it like John O Groats etc. The hotel up the road does great meals or there is a small shop if you want to cook It was spacious well decorated, clean and tidy
- Yvonne (10/5): Excellent - Spotlessly clean, had everything you needed. Parking at door.
- Lauren (9/5): We had a lovely stay and would book again if in the area - We only stayed for 1 night as a family of 4 and had a lovely chilled evening. The beds were very comfy and the welcome treats were a lovely added touch. Sadie was brilliant with answering messages and communicating with us. Our children also loved the games to play. It is a lovely cottage, but a refresh of painting some walls and maybe black out blinds.
- Heather (9/5): Superb - Bŕilliant location.a pub only 3 mins away and the food was fantastic.A morrisons round the corner.
We loved the cherry cake and crisps.that was providid for us.
The cottage had everything you need. The bed in my room was amazing! So clean and comfortable very big room. I would have prefered black out curtains in our bedroom
Plus the i personally felt the paint work all through needed a lick of paint.to just lightened and refesh the room
- Sarah (9/5): Great sleep at Riverview Cottage - Communication was great, easy to find.
Lovely comfortable bed after camping for a few days l, it was was a delight.
Loved the little welcome snacks thank you.
We would stay again. Na
- Debharvey (9/5): RIVERVIEW COTTAGE - First of all, it is clear the owner has invested a lot of thought and effort into turning Riverview Cottage into a welcoming comfortable holiday home. The only slightly disappointing aspect was the bathroom.+ we struggled with one of the blinds. All in all, a terrific little holiday cottage.
- Baker (8/5): Great little cottage, perfect for our trip up North! - Peaceful village not far from Thurso. The cottage was nicely arranged and had everything we wanted for our stay. Host was very responsive when we had questions. Some nice dog walks near by (head over the bridge and turn left!). The heating was a bit hit and miss, and it was cold on that first night. There were a couple of oil filled radiators around so we used those in the evenings for the rest of the week. The bathroom radiator didn't work at all while we were there and to be fair the host offered to come and look but we were near to the end of our stay by then.
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional - This cottage was perfectly situated for visiting family members and visiting the sights
- Abbie (9/5): Lovely, clean, peaceful - Lovely cottage with everything you need. Hotel at bottom of street has lovely food. Very clean & lovely garden
- Alisha (10/5): Spacious cottage with a lovely river view from the back garden - Lovely little cottage, has everything you need. Rooms were spacious, beds really comfortable. Loved the little welcome basket. Only spent the night but Will definitely be back for a longer stay
- Joanne (9/5): Homely comfortable pleasant stay - The house was very clean and sparkling in all rooms and beds were very well presented. The pictures on walls were very appealing especially the highland cow images. The living room was very comfortable and kitchen was inviting with lovely added touches with a selection of teas and snacks. My dog also felt at home in the house. Set in a nice peaceful location with nice river view from the garden.
- Lillybet76 (10/5): Exceptional - Everything about this wee cottage I love! The space, the location, ease of use and the peaceful surroundings of Halkirk. Second time in 2 months staying here and will definitely be booking again. The cottage has all you need and in a great place to use as a base for exploring and with the hotel literally a 2 minute walk, great for a meal and drink at the bar. Nothing
- Anil (9/5): Superb -
- Sharon (8/5): Very good - It was peaceful, all the facilities that we required and good location. N/A
- Chirsteen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chirsteen (10/5): Exceptional -

- Carol-anne (10/5): Beautiful little cottage. - Beautiful little cottage, nicely decorated throughout, very comfortable beds, the cottage had everything we needed, well worth the money. That there wasn't a window you could open in the bathroom or an extractor fan after you had been in the shower.
- Gillian (9/5): Lovely comfortable cottage. - The cottage was so lovely, warm and comfortable. There was everything we required for self catering. The beds were comfortable, the lounge area was cosy, the shower was fine and the kitchen was well equipped. Lovely bed linen and towels. Parking outside was not a problem. Quiet area. There isn't actually a lot in Halkirk but the cottage is a good base for exploring the north coast. There is a handy Morrisons daily 2 minutes walk away to save driving to Thurso for essentials you've forgotten to bring! The owner of the cottage is very responsive and left a lovely selection of snacks, plus there are also spices and other wee bits left to be used......a kind gesture. Would certainly book again if in the area. Thank you. Nothing to dislike about the cottage at all.

- Robert (9/5): Superb -
- Kateryna (5/5): Wouldn't stay again - The bed was very comfy. Kitchen well equipped Mushrooms growing through skirting board by the shower room. Shower room was in a bit of a state, looked very tired.
Internet seems to only work 8 till 5pm, connection to the Internet was through music player, so you had to twig with it constantly to get it to work
- Klaudia (4/5): Bad - Style of the house Smell of stenchlisis in the house no car parking need to park on the street .garden
- Des (7/5): enjoyable - close facilities bed 2 was a bit small
- Karen (8/5): Clean, good stocked kitchen and great price! - Lovely cottage in a quiet rural village. Plenty of space for our family of 4 on our tour of the North Coast.
- Tee (8/5): Tardis like property - great for those with a dog. - - very spacious

- Maria (8/5): Good value location - Good location, very spacious, nice interior in living and sleeping room. We didn’t use it, but there even was a proper espresso machine in the kitchen. Garden would need a bit more attention, bathroom is quite a long way from bedroom, but all in all it was a good experience.
- Jennifer (10/5): A most beautiful cottage with every comfort, tasteful decor, great location, & the best owners ever! - Great coffee maker! A basket of breakfast foods like eggs, butter, bread, would have made it a little better value for money.

- Pam (10/5): Very welcoming cottage, would have liked to stay longer. - Lovely little village, able to park right outside the front door. Very comfortable cottage, appreciated the small welcome basket. Beds very comfortable, bathroom shower worked well. Kitchen well stocked with dishes, glasses, utensils, coffee, etc. Very good internet once we got the WiFi router charged up. It was plugged into the TV but evidently not used recently. Hosts were easy to communicate with, very responsive to questions. Would gladly stay here again. Only suggestion - the toilet seat was loose and swiveled around. Not a big problem but nothing else was a negative.
- Gordon (9/5): Perfect quiet cottage in lovely location - Ideal
Location perfectly presented Nothing
