• Michele (8/5): Personnel très accueillant, on se sent bienvenue. - Emplacement dans endroit très central pour boutiques , restaurants et sortir le soir mais il ne faut pas être seul dans la rue la nuit car on peut sentir de l’insécurité . Mais on dit cela de toute la ville! Le personnel est très attachant. Ils vous accueillent comme des amis. Les espaces communs : salon et cuisine sont accueillants Malheureusement le bruit extérieur dérange si on a le sommeil léger. Une toilette en plus d’une douche dans le dortoir des femmes serait très agréable.

• William (7/5): - The activities proposed looked good however I did not have time to partake in them. Very safe and staff were great. VERY loud noise on the weekend until extremely late from clubs in the street makes it near impossible to sleep. Not ideal for early mornings at the airport...

• Daniel Andersson (4/5): It was okay - Overall, I had a good experience at Curiosity in Johannesburg. The staff were genuinely nice, friendly, and made an effort to look after guests’ safety, which I appreciated since the neighbourhood can feel a bit rough at times. At the same time, it is also a very interesting and vibrant area to explore if you come with an open mind and some street awareness. The only downside for me was that breakfast was not included, which would have improved the overall stay. Also, during the winter period it became extremely cold, at times it honestly felt close to 10 degrees inside my room, which was quite uncomfortable, especially at night.
• DRADO (7/5): GREAT OPTION DURING SUMMER TIME.. - Fully equipped kitchen, clean areas and comfortable bed.. Freezing room especially during the night. Luck of heating in the room !!! Average location but you can go everywhere by Bolt due to affordable taxi costs..

• Antonia (8/5): - I really liked the hostel. It had a fully stocked kitchen and bar, a full balcony and a common room with a wood burner that came in handy. It was well laid out and I would recommend it as a great backpacker experience. It is in a very interesting part of town. The location is interesting but you must take care. The staff will go over where you can and shouldn't go. When I was there, both the electricity and the water went off for a long time after a heavy rain. Not in a prioritized part of town.

• Maria (1/5): - if you're a backpacker, AVOID this place, it's not where you want to stay. the hostel itself isn't awful, it more looks like a bar tho. i've rented myself private room but it wasn't that private since i saw couple cockroaches in it. i left immediately after check in (non-refundable) when i saw the district and absence of white people around. it's one of the most dangerous areas in the city, one lady jumped on me from underneath the car next to hostel and i literally passed street full of pr*stitutes 100m away from it. oh, and there is NO WATER in hostel, that was my last straw... ADVISE: stay outside of the city, far from center
• Claudio André (5/5): Only go if you want to party - The staff is really nice (people from Johannesburg in general are super friendly), they have security, the location is central and the beds are good. When I had time to go to the bar, the people were very welcoming. The place is really loud. The music only stops late (if it's not the music from the bar below, is the music from a bar in the corner) and already starts early. On Sunday, people were already screaming (literally) below at 7 am and I couldn't sleep anymore. There is a bar that is attached to the hostel and they play loud music. The only place with acceptable internet to work is in the bar, but the music is so loud that you cannot concentrate at all. Also, for video calls, the internet was constantly freezing. Sometimes, the plugs in the room were not working at all. I would only recommend it if you want to party and enjoy the hostel's bar or other bars in Maboneng. Looks like the bar brings more revenue than the hostel.
• Breno (8/5): Boa - Hostel limpo é o quarto muito bom. Um detalhe que me assustou foi o bairro. Estive no mesmo hostel em 2017 e era muito mais alegre e animado tanto o hostel como as ruas próximas. Dessa vez achei tudo um pouco estranho
• Daniela (5/5): Für kurz ok - Das Zimmer ist sehr gross. Bett bequem. Eigene Dusche. Personal an der Rezi hilfsbereit. Grosse Terrasse oben. Barpersonal unhöflich und ignorant. Es gab kein Bier mehr. Es wurde sich angebrüllt u fast geprügelt. Es gab keinen Strom. Kein Warmwasser. Sehr hellhörig und laut. Ab 7uhr morgens gehts los. 2Häuser weiter ist eine Disco, die man bis nachts hört.

• Rodolfo C S (6/5): - Nada Fica em uma rua cheia de festa. Tem perigo a noite. É um entra e sai a noite inteira no quarto. Luz ligada de hora em hora. Os banheiros coletivis mais sujos que já vi em Hostel. Não é próximo do centro e nem dos locais de interesse. Não recomendo!

• Darius (10/5): - Amazing location at the heart of the city, don’t worry about the dangerous neighbourhoods around there easy to spot and avoid, the staff will advice. But there is many restaurants, bars, clubs and street food available nearby in safe areas. The hostel itself is a popular bar frequented by locals itself so no need to venture out at night if needed. Great rooms, and facilities as-well. Very welcoming and engaging staff. As mentioned it’s a popular bar as-well and with the lively street might be very loud so if your not a light nighter

• Sarah (8/5): Wir hatten eine sehr gute Zeit für eine Nacht auf der Durchreise. - Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis der Unterkunft ist sehr gut. Personal sehr nett. Zimmer sehr sauber, Bett bequem. Die Lage ist etwas kritisch. Die Straße auf der sich die Unterkunft befindet ist total in Ordnung, geht man aber links oder rechts der Straße weiter befindet man sich sofort in einem der gefährlichsten Viertel der Stadt.

It was nice how seriously they took security and explained where to and not to go as i checked in - Melisa was really lovely ! Nothing really, the property was great overall and felt incredibly safe. I was only there for a one-night layover, so I wasn't looking to do much but sleep, and given I was there on a Saturday night, it was a bit loud from the partying downstairs - nothing some headphones couldn't fix !

• TOSHIKI (1/5): 盗まれる可能性あり - 部屋が綺麗 ※お金を盗まれる Googleマップの口コミで他の方も書かれているが、チェックアウト後に荷物部屋にカバンを3時間だけ預けました。 私が荷物を取りに来るまで他に荷物を預けたゲストはいません。 荷物部屋は鍵で閉められています。 しかし、荷物を取りに来たはカバンの位置が移動してチャックの閉め口も変わっており、1箇所は開けっぱなしのままで荷物を荒らされてました。 中身を確認したところ30USDが盗まれて、他のにもつはその辺りに捨てられてました。 他の方も同じ被害に遭っているし、その日はスタッフ以外中に入れないので、スタッフが盗んだとしか言いようがありません。荷物室の中にはカメラはありません。 スタッフに言ったが私のせいにされた。 返金してほしいです。

Ah, that was full filing, and all the beautiful connections I had this weekend 👌🏼. I appreciate the experiences I had this weekend.❤️ Hopefully, I will come back soon. The town is way busy and not quite of my ideal situation to be in all the time.

• Pedro (9/5): LOVELY STAY - Theb staff is really great, mainly Nelissa. She was so nice and helful all time i need in all aspects. Also the kitchen and the balcon very nice. The music volume at the bar after 10 pm is really unconfortable. I suggest to turn the volume down . We get tired and need to rest.

You will get warnings from everyone who cares about you to be super careful since the street is scanty. Also the place is not super quiet because of the clubs around but you can manage to catch sleep comfortably.
• Kim Voermans (8/5): Good atmosphere - Curiosity is a hostel for all kinds of people. You'll find western backpackers at your breakfast table and locals in the bar. They have several excursions planned if you don't know what to do. It's in a busy area with lots of restaurants and pubs who will continue until 2 am, so if you woke up in 4 am that morning and hoping for a good night's rest, then you have a problem. Also, the stairs to the first floor in the loft are scary. They are narrow and steep so you better not go to the toilet at night.

• Desirée (4/5): - TOTAL mess!! Workers lost, careless, confuse. It says "breakfast included" but there isn't any. Windows in the room don't close. Location is not worth the stay.
• Femke (2/5): - Locatie is fijn, centraal gelegen in uitgaansgebied. Helaas werd al mijn geld gestolen uit mijn kluisje. De enige die mogelijk mijn code hebben kunnen zien is het personeel, welke meeging om geld op te halen voor de was die ik heb laten doen. Toen ik het meldde, leek het personeel eerst meegaand, maar bij navraag mocht ik geen camerabeelden bekijken en er werd geen aanstalten gemaakt om actie te ondernemen zoals bijvoorbeeld melden bij de politie. Ik kreeg wel een upgrade naar privékamer om het goed te maken, maar hier had ik niets aan, aangezien ik niet het idee had dat het een andere reiziger kan zijn geweest. Achteraf voelt dit heel onveilig en na even googlen kwam ik erachter dat er vaker geld gestolen wordt. Ik wil andere reizigers hierbij waarschuwen en kan helaas geen betere review schrijven.
