- Cecil (1/5): Worst ever experience - Nothing at all even the photos are not truthful Owner is rude. Place is falling apart. Not even proper parking . Owner cares more about where her car will be parked than where her customers should park. Stairs is unsave . Not even cleaning of rooms. Not even wifi even when it says wifi. Not welcomed just as a business owner I found it hard to swallow. Didn't even make an effort to find out why we left early. Not even enough electricity loaded. This place should be closed down. Not even a rail to hold on to to enter the pool. Window of pool room shuttered. Horse manure on walkway to so called beach smelling small kids junglegym horse manure. Laying in play area. Will I recommend such a play definitely not. You can do your clients a favour and remove her from your books. She is no 5 star place to stay. She didn't even try to find out why we left. Or give us a refund. Value for money...not at all worst ever stay.
- Janine (6/5): - Unit was clean and tidy and the property was very neat and tidy. Unit had aircon which is a bonus (but it is on prepaid system) Easy access to the beach with own walk way. Safe parking for our vehicle. 1. We had no gas to cook with on our first night and no hot water to bath. It was a simple fix the next day, which could have been sorted out on the first night, but the host never answered the phone or responded to our messages.
- Bhekisisa Mokhoha (10/5): -
- Vanessa (1/5): - Nothing Beds were not made up. Fridge was not working.no electricity. Could not stay. Perishables were ruined
- sbonelo (3/5): - I liked the location and the peace in the place😍 The white landlady came to instruct me that I have to switch the aircon off or else I will buy the electricity on my own and she gave me a limit of R50 electricity. Do not book the place I was sooo disappointed!!!☹️
- sandile (6/5): - Good space for the family No aircorn pls too hot only fans
- Tugh (5/5): -
- Madelein (10/5): -

- brian (10/5): - Place was neat, and right near the river and beach and the hosts where super helpful and great people ,just cannot wait for my next trip
- Nkosinathi (5/5): - Location was excellent
Setup address were easy to find For bathroom. Bathroom soap was not provided so as the hand lotion.
Other windows did not have cover curtains
No aircon
No 👎 tea set provided neither bottle of water in the fridge
We could smell that the beding covers have not been charged for a while.
Gate motor was not operating and we had to manually operate it
- Willemse (7/5): - No breakfast included. No shower curton. Closer to beach. Far to walk for fishing. You need to drive.
- Sibiya (6/5): - There's peace the place is beautiful. They need to fit the Aircons ithink it was one of our struggles since it was hot, also must provide the Bathing shower Gel and towels.
- Ronell (3/5): - Easy access to the beach. Owner was friendly. Cute ponies on the property. Lovely outside seating area. Kid friendly. Decor, bedding, seating area etc all very outdated and in desperate need of a change. At the minimum a good deep clean. Yes the beds are comfortable but the linen need an update, pillows need to be replaced. The top bunk bed is not pinned to the bottom one which poses a huge risk. Microwave is so rusted inside, we couldn't even use it because the rust was smoking. Told the cleaner but nothing was done about it.
- Philisiwe (5/5): -
- Farzana (5/5): - The location, can easily walk down to the river mouth. The area is secure, gates are always locked. There are ponies on the property that graze around. The bathrooms.

- Nkateko B (6/5): Tugula Beach has its Audience, - I liked the Price point it's very affordable, I liked that you have personal access to the breach, and the beach view from the house was gorgeous, background pictures were nice.
Gas geyser can actually cater for a lot of people to shower same time, I loved that. Tugula Beach isn't really a chilling beach, I think also the host could benefit from providing things to use to wash dishes and stuff, there were no washcloths or even soap, or coffee stuff.
Also the Gas Geyser you need to know how it works because some family members bathed with cold water thinking the geyser wasn't working first night.
- Siphamandla (2/5): - Owners made sure we know we are being watched closely as we were a group of girls with some alcohol, as if we were going to be so inconsiderate and drunk and wild as to disturb other guests.
We had no hot water in one of the chalets, which was not attended to after reporting several times. Made us feel like we were being punished for coming with alcohol as we were warned the moment we came in

Items were broken/dirty/unusable/ not safe to use.
- Amsha (1/5): Worst booking.com experience everrrr! I had experienced apartheid all over again from Tessas husband who just opened the - Nothing! Absolutely nothing. Absolutely everything! From the racist owners to no water and no electricity and no customer service at all!
- Khayelihle (7/5): Good - Marvelous Please install aircorn
please, please
- Linda (10/5): The place is beautiful and the host was warm and welcoming. I would like to stay there a bit longer. - It is a self catering space but I was really disappointed that they don't have a kitchen/small diner to provide for catering options and since the place is far from shopping facilities you must bring take out or come prepared to cook.
- Mdladla (8/5): Very good - The views
- Jili (1/5): The hosts are racist! - The location of the property The hosts are racist!!
- Natasha (1/5): Horrible, dirty full of cockroaches - Nothing Everything, the flat was full on cockroaches, it was dirty, wires hanging everywhere, unsafe, dangerous, pool dirty, very outdated, wall in bedroom coming down. Really not a very nice place to stay.
- Pamela (6/5): Hosts were very accommodating and frinedly - area peacefull and scenic - No breakfast but would like ariconditioning in the place they only had fans No Aircon conditioning only fans
- Mbhekeni (10/5): Exceptional - We like your place because your own guesthouse is beautifully. They said we will coming again next year. No. We're good

- Luphumlo (7/5): Good -
- Deen (6/5): Pleasant -
- Pearl (1/5): It was a nightmare - The property was clean and the is nice there’s piece and quite The owner of the property is so rude and resist, she treated us like trash, there was no soup for bathing, for washing the dishes, the electricity plugs in the kitchen were all not working except for the fridge, we had to move the microwave and toaster from the kitchen to the sitting room, the water was cold, bed linen is old, they never provided us with black plastic bags for bins, that lady was not nice at all, if we ask for the iron she said I gave you in the morning she won’t give it again, when we were living she asked for the iron and I told her that it’s in the chalet, she said I must walk all the way too take it and I ended up falling from the stairs and broke my knee
- Vienella (7/5): Good - The short walk down to the lagoon The shower curtain. I prefer shower doors
- Denver (1/5): Bad - Nothing No guidance, I had to find my own way to the room ! I was just given the key and said to go down and turn left ! Very poor service no WiFi
- Trevino (4/5): Disappointing - Utensils in kitchen, bedding very old , I was charged R 771 for a chalet with a tub but there was no tub .
There was no difference fron the room that cost R 567 and R 771 so , can I please have a refund .
The owner has also indicated that she is struggling to get a hold of your company , please contact regard to this matter !! Thank you .
Kind regards Naidoo
- Bongi (9/5): Superb -
- Sithembile (9/5): My stay was awesome, I managed to do my work without any disturbance. - Clean, comfortable bed, fridge, stove kettle, toaster, cutlery available, beautiful environment. Opening and closing of the gate.
- Mike (9/5): Superb -
- Romilla (9/5): Superb -
- Hugo (8/5): Value for money with a nice view of the ocean - Friendly hosts and stunning views
- Rakesh (9/5): Superb -
- Carolyn (4/5): Frustrating - Had to wait an hour after check in as the property was not ready. Toilet was broken on arrival. It was “fixed” but still did not work properly and they did not come back to fix same. With 6 adults and 4 kids in the house it was hugely inconvenient. The shower is terribly small and the water hits the opposite wall. The shower head is non adjustable and you therefore cannot rinse. Child was bitten by bed bugs after sleeping on the couch.
- Griffiths (8/5): Very good -
- Shabalala (8/5): Very good -
- Joanna (4/5): Noisy neighbours spoiled the tranquility - Beautiful view from the top of the property (only from the Fisherman House, Main House and flats, NOT from the Boat Houses).
It has potential to be tranquil and relaxing, we just could not experience that.
Short distance to the beach for walks.
Good wifi. 1. Dirty beach (loads of plastic and other garbage between dry sticks).
2. We stayed in Boat House 2 over Easter weekend, shower is missing one door so water is splashing onto the bathroom floor, shower head is broken, dirty lace in the kitchen with hundreds of little fruit flies, very old and rusted fan in the living room only, no cupboards in the master bedroom (just side table, dresser with broken chair), cracked screen TV (so not really possible to watch anything although there is a DSTV), no toilet paper, no tin opener or wine opener, fridge old and freezer is very slow (small plastic bottle of water did not freeze over the night)
3. We unfortunately had neighbours in Boat House 1 with huge speaker, playing loud music till late hours of the night. Owners asked them to play it inside, which they ignored. They were ill mannered, selfish and could not appreciate nature at all.
4. Beach is for walking only, no swimming
5. Very neglected and half broken pool table, not for those who can play well.
Bar area is just a packed and dirty storage of all things that do not work.
- Peter (7/5): Good -
- Nicolas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michelle (9/5): Superb - Beautiful views
- Rowan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shazade (6/5): Pleasant -
- Khethiwe (7/5): It was a good short stay - Walking along the beach in the morning and evening The sea was dirty
- Nhlakanipho (3/5): Poor -
- Madonda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ninela (1/5): Bad experience our mood was completely changed because of the host - Location The host was giving us a attitude, she’s racist and sour , she has no respect to us, definitely we won’t come back
- Nqobile (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gloria (8/5): Very good - Rooms are big and spacious. Nice kitchen too. Short walk to the mouth of the river, stunning views. Braai area, pool. Not enough dish soap to wash dishes. No salt/coffee/sugar. Towels were smelly.
- Themba (7/5): Good -
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Annelie (9/5): Superb - Beautiful views of the Tugela River and the sea
- Ntlahla (8/5): Very good -
- Jana (9/5): Superb -
- Rambharos (1/5): Bad -
- Rashid (7/5): We enjoyed the stay. It was a good experience. - We liked the view and the establishment itself 1. The main gate operated manually, A risk factor when entering or exiting the premise after hours.
2. At night, an intruder can easily gain entry into the property via the unlocked main gate.
3. It was very difficult to access the beach gate lock, from the outside, due to the positioning of the lock.
4. On our last night, and possibly due to the rain, the power to the unit tripped off and could not be put back on.
5, The roof above the bed was leaking to an extent that we had to move the bed.
- Ken (9/5): Superb -
- Elmarie (7/5): Spectacular views - The view was spectacular.
A spacious unit, with a gate on the property to the lagoon No towels were supplied
There were no restaurants open in the vicinity
- Nsibande (2/5): Very poor - The view is really good TV wasn't playing and the owner just didn't care.
There's no Iron in the rooms, you will have to wait for other people to finish so that you can press your clothes.
- Van (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mgabashe (8/5): Very good -
- Njabulo (7/5): Good -
- Kgahlisho (1/5): Bad -
- Sphindile (2/5): The chalet is not in a good condition , no bath towels, no no dishwashing liquid and swaps. - The location The fact that the booking didnt say anything about cleaning fee and breakage fee. I made booking for 2 bedroom paying for a chalet per night, now after i left am being told i was suppose to pay for a number people, which was not specified on the booking. I am very disappointed
- Silondile (1/5): Bad - The location is very good The smell of dogs in the chalet we were booked in, pillows were not enough, no bath towel. There were no cleaning materials simple thing like a mop, proper induction on the place or even written down instructions on how to use their gas stove. Fridge was not working only the freezer was working, that not so friendly goat, while Tesa's husband was rude and watching that goat come to the Chalets, Pool was not clean, poor quality of the toilet paper. The gate is a problem when you have to physically open it and it's not safe when driving at night and those dogs barking
