Guest Reviews
- Claire (8/5): The property and location are beautiful, the cleanliness is what lets itβs down and prevents me giving it a 10 out of 10 - A really lovely cottage
Great kitchen with all you could need
Beautiful bathroom It just didnβt feel really clean, when we arrived the wheelie bin was over flowing and beer bottles all on the floor.
I know the property is dog friendly so i absolutely expect the odd dog hair the hoover has missed but the floor was covered in black dog hairs and so was the bed π
- Duke (9/5): Superb -
- Burfield (5/5): Alot smaller than looks - Beds was comfy, and was clean Tv did not work, garden needs a tidy dogs can hurt themselves on brambles thats round the edges, not enough outdoor seating when told there was several available, smaller than looked on pictures,
- Alan (4/5): Poor location, disappointing facilities. - There are a couple of points i would like to make about the accommodation...
1/ we would have liked to have been warned about the severity of the stairs, as a couple in our very late 60's we found them very precarious, we both had to shuffle down on our backsides as they were to steep to take the chance of falling down, and because the rail was so shiny it was next to useless.
2/ The TV was not tuned to receive channels only netflix and YouTube, we wasted an hour trying to download BBC, & and ITV but to no avai, had we known this we would have brought our i pads.
3/ It would have been nice to have been warned about the very steep hill into town and the lack of parking as we had to drive in because there was no way we could have walked back up the hill.
4/ The shower could do with a slip mat, my wife slipped on her first entry which didn't result in much more than a bruised elbow.
5/ We found the lounge seat very uncomfortable and had to use the pillows off the bed to prop us up, a longer stay would have been unbearable.
Even though we are an ageing couple we are still quite sprightly, i golf 3 times a week, my wife does pilates twice a week and we walk the dog twice a day yet we found the accommodation somewhat trying.
However our two days spent in Matlock Bath was very pleasant indeed.

- Courtney (8/5): Homely cottage located great for a walkers trip - Amazing place! Such a good location. We walked into Matlock bath with ease. That bathroom is honestly stunning. Hosts were easy to chat to if I needed anything The only downfall was the dust and we went to use the uno but it was mouldy:(
- Kevin (9/5): 3 lovely nights in a very comfortable cottage - Clean and cosy Nothing
- Sophie (8/5): Very good -
- P (8/5): Very good -
- Connor (9/5): Superb - Lovely cottage, log fire was beautiful, large TV which we used for our switch. All rooms were clean and well presented. Bathroom is downstairs and a little cold
- Adrian (8/5): Very good - Location
Drive
Comfortable house
Warm house
Quiet Although we enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again we felt that the accommodation could have been better equipped
Kitchen needed to be better equipped
Hoover/broom/ needed as we had a dog with us
These are not luxuries but essentials for a weeks stay
- Stephen (3/5): We were not prepared to stay as in our opinion the stairs were unsafe. - Not Applicable Kitchen could have been better equipped and there was no window blind.
Stairs were very steep with no handrails.
The property was advertised with 2 bathrooms and there was only 1 which was downstairs.
- Pauline (8/5): Charnwood cottage - Really pleased with our choice π newly renovated by the looks of it and very nice. Clean and modern with a touch of the old cottage still showing.
Close enough to walk into Matlock for food, but it's a steep walk back, so you need to be fit π
Log burner with plenty of wood, loads of hot water, and good heating. Comfortable beds and nice bedding. It was so quiet and peaceful, handy parking right outside.
Would go again π Nothing....
The only recommendation I would suggest is that the bathroom is beautiful and the shower is fantastic, but it's a bit chilly . A blind in the kitchen would be good π
And could do with a lamp in the lounge.
Otherwise it was fab....really nice place
