- Periklis (10/5): We had a great time and the kids loved it - This is a fantastic residence for anyone wishing to enjoy nature with a touch of history. The complex has impressive gardens and it was a pity that we couldn’t stay longer to explore all of them. The beds were comfortable and the room very convenient I would really love a coffee maker in the room. Also finding the reception was a little tricky, some more clear signs would help
- Catherine (8/5): -
- David (6/5): Pleasant -
- Alex (8/5): Very good -
- Ronny (10/5): Totally worth it - What a beautiful, peaceful, stylish place. Nice restaurant with great food, too. Can't get more local than with delicious 0 km dishes. On top of that very pet friendly. Inform the hotel in advance, though, when in four legged company.
- Elgin (8/5): Nice location for events - Cleanliness, the garden, the museum, the staff are very friendly, accessibility from Zurich - and the bus stop is just outside the hotel area For an overnight stay, it's fine for a relaxing day. Beyond that, there's nothing much to do in and around the area.
- Bridget (9/5): Loved it! Magical. Would come again and again... - Kartause Ittingen is a truly special place.
The old monastery site has a cluster of beautiful buildings, lovely grounds and is perched high on the valley side such that there are fantastic views all day long. I walked up the steep hillside vineyards one morning and it was magical.
The breakfast and evening meals were healthy, with lots of variety and high quality.
The room was minimalistic, with clean lines, gorgeous furnishings and beautiful materials (lots of natural wood).
Also loved that they had a book on steps to reduce your environmental footprint in each room. Hats off, Kartause Ittingen! It is a little pricey, but is good value for the incredible setting.
- Sam (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly and attentive staff, excellent location in the rolling Thurgau hills. The gurgling fountain on the courtyard. Dog-friendly. Most of all, the very tasty breakfast full of local high-quality produce! For my taste, the mattress was a bit too soft.
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christiana (9/5): Superb -
- Martin (8/5): Very good - The place far away from downtown noise the room smelled a bit musty
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Oana (9/5): Superb - The nature around is very nice, a lot of green and beautiful scents. I am sorry we didn't get to explore all the surroundings as we didn't have time. But the garden is a joy to the eye. The food was delicious and many of the ingredients were locally sourced. Very nice surprise this accomodation! Not really that I didn't like, but the specific concept of the design furniture, while interesting and alternative, in my personal view it is not very practical.
- Dominique (8/5): Very good -
- Giles (10/5): Glorious and well rounded centre with a special feel - Location, food, staff, shop, pub, restaurant, museum, wine, beer, hamburger
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Denise (10/5): Staying in a renovated updated monastery is an interesting experience. Much of the delicious food is produced on site. E - architecturally impressive and the garden is a dream
- Rachel (4/5): useful overnight stop but won’t be back sadly - beautiful grounds and great service in the reception and restaurant we hated our room. I understand it was a design room but to us it felt like a prison cell. So sorry but not to our taste at all. It felt spooky and weird for us.
- Arjan (8/5): Very good -
- Oli (10/5): Loved getting away from it all in this stunning old abbey, food was amazing and museum fascinating! - The location is spectacular and it is a wonderful setting in an old abbey with gardens and orchards all around. Most of the food is sourced from their own fields, including their own delicious wine!
- Wim (10/5): Idillic place - What an energetic place, waking up after a december night of snowfall. Room temperature when arriving. It takes 1 hour before it is warming up. I would advice more the design rooms.
- Ulrike (8/5): Very good - Beautiful location Aircraft noise during the night
