- Helen (9/5): Lovely place to stat - Lovely quaint cottage. Very cosy. Some cobwebs e.g in the light fitting in the bedroom,
- Mhairi (10/5): Suited us perfectly ! - Lovely cosy cottage with very kind hospitable hosts
- Jo (9/5): - Perfect location for my family
- yvette (10/5): -
- Christopher (10/5): Cosy cottage in a great location - Great location for a wedding at Rowton Castle. From the moment we arrived, we felt right at home—the cottage is beautifully decorated, warm, and full of charm. Every little detail, from the comfy beds to the well-equipped kitchen, made our stay effortless and relaxing.
- Chris & Beverly (7/5): Cosy stopover, plenty of storage, miles outside town - bring bottled water! - The property was self catering but there was a useful welcome basket with jams, Nutella, packets of biscuits and a bottle of red wine. A modern clean kitchen. For 3 ladies there was plenty of lounge space with a soft large comfy sofa to relax and chat. Soft lighting with lamps, and a TV we didn’t use.
Bathroom was by the kitchen, but had a jacuzzi bath and decent electric shower.
Overall a compact little house that was fairly cosy for what we needed.
I believe the property is for sale - the advert for a board outside shows the whole building. A bit too far from Shrewsbury… I searched Shrewsbury area to stay but this is Baschurch, 8 Miles away and cost us £21 in a taxi. The postcode on Booking.com is very different to the real postcode - and because my friend couldn’t see the house name, we drove for miles to the other postcode to check - costing £37!! The key code was fiddly because the dial was over 6 feet high and hard to see in a dark space. We needed a stool to stand on! Took a while to get the locker open, it was very stiff and we got a bit wet in the rain.
The water supply is loaded with lime - creating limescale on pans. The kettle was furred up inside but the limescale was gooey and could be scooped up in fingers! We bought bottled water to boil in a large pan (in drawer by the sink). The kitchen was extended into a small relaxation area by the patio doors but the divide had a blind tiled step!! Brown tiled kitchen floor into brown tiled seating area….with a doorway step to break your toes on! I put the fire extinguisher on top of 2 serviettes covering the step so we didn’t fall.
Toilet flush was upwards - and water kept running all the time after - so you have to flick the handle UP twice.
The bathroom door was catching on the tiles and the draft excluder screeched loud enough to wake the dead, every time you open or close it. Bathroom window wouldn’t close - very stiff.
Front bedroom was cold at night - heating boiler in small bedroom could be adjusted.
- Angela (10/5): - Is a lovely, cosy, cottage and we all enjoyed our stay at this peaceful place .
- Lilibeth (10/5): There’s an ample space for Car parking and easy to find the address. - The place is so beautiful although we were 20 minutes away from our event venue but it’s worth the drive to know that we will have a restful and beautiful place to rest. The owner replies to queries straight away. Kids love the place and manage to place scrabble their favourite board game. To mention that there’s more board games available just not enough time.
Thank you so much Claire for such a welcoming stay at your place. Recommended highly. None.
- Antonia (9/5): Lovely stay visiting friends and making memories - Beautiful, clean property with everything we needed. Lovely welcome pack in arrival. Perfect location for what we needed for our stay.
The children loved the spa bath! Not a dislike but on using the washing machine (the children did horse riding and didn’t want to put them in the case covered in horse hair), discovered that it did not drain, even after using the spin and drain setting after. Tumble dryer setting did not work either. This is not a dislike, just a recommendation that you may need it replaced or fixed. Otherwise a beautiful property which we loved and will definitely use again.
- Philip (10/5): Lovely cottage. Comfortable relaxing stay. - Lovely cottage, great value for money. Stayed here to attend a wedding at a nearby farm, was perfect for this. Only negative was that the only bathroom was on the ground floor. Although it was to be expected in an old cottage such as this, it wasn’t ideal for a group of friends sharing.
- Ian (10/5): Well presented, clean, tidy & well equipped. Great cottage. - Very well presented cottage, lots of good touches and well equipped
- Aimee (8/5): Cosy cottage in little village - Cottage was very homely and well presented, great base for exploring the wider area.overall a very nice and comfortable home from home and well equipped.
Host left a lovely treat and tray of goodies Front bedroom could do with some curtain liners or blackout curtains as we were up with the dawn. Bed in the front bedroom was very firm, optional mattress topper would be good for those who prefer a softer sleep
- Rachel (10/5): Exceptional - Great stay! We'll equipped kitchen and lovely welcome goodies 🥰
- Ged (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bernadette (10/5): Exceptional -
- Fiona (8/5): Very good - Great communication from host ideal location as visiting family in the area. Nice welcome pack good parking Lovely old cottage but only one bathroom downstairs which we did know about.
- Susan (10/5): Fab stay + great value for money, lovely kind gesture off host to leave bottle of wine + lovely biscuits + jams and spre - Cosy, clean, comfy, lovely quiet village but only 15 mins in car to the beautiful town of Shrewsbury. Toilet door made a noise, think it was just the draft excluder.
- David (8/5): We were working nearby and the property suited our needs perfectly -
- Jo (10/5): It was perfect for us. Warm, cosy, well equipped and clean. - It was perfect for us. Warm, cosy, well equipped and clean. Nothing
- Elizabeth (8/5): Very good -
- Greg (10/5): Comfy stay in peaceful surroundings - Larger than you’d think and well appointed for a long weekend stay at a handy distance from Shrewsbury With incredibly high ceilings we got a bit cold overnight soon sorted once I’d worked out the thermostat 😂
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joanna (9/5): Very convenient and accessible. Cosy and well maintained. - Books and games for the kids, decent stock of basics in the cupboard. The main bedroom bed was so not great. Very noisy to sleep in and I think the frame needs a good tighten.
- Chris (9/5): Superb -
- Alexander (9/5): Nice quiet spot outside Shrewsbury - Clean, comfy, cosy, quiet. Easy parking. No problems.
- Paula (9/5): Great property in a quiet location, within good distance of the touristy bits. - Great location, though a little hard to find in the dark. Really quiet too.
Good size property great for our family. Clean throughout, all the white goods worked. Plates and dishes weren't cheap Ikea, it felt like the property had been invested in. There were a couple of faults that I reported to the host, that had clearly not been reported beforehand. These were not major faults , though a dripping hot tap can be expensive in terms of water use and the cost of heating the lost water. Please report faults to hosts!
The main stairs are quite steep, something to be mindful of though not a big negative.
- Leanne (9/5): The house accommodated us perfectly - The house was the perfect size for the 6 of us, it was cozy but ideal for what we needed. The host left us a bottle of wine which we thought was a nice touch. We requested a cot for our 5 month old which they left for us meaning we didn't need to worry about packing a travel cot along with our many bags. For the price we paid for the weekend it more than met our needs. The bed in the main bedroom creeked everytime either of us moved.
- Ann (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jacqueline (10/5): I booked this cottage with my sister and brother in law as we go to the Let’s rock festival every year. We were about 30 - Beautiful cottage, like home from home.. perfect location, just a cab ride into the town .. Nothing.. 🙂
- Amelia (9/5): Superb -
- Edwards (8/5): Very good - Overall very well equipped, comfy sofa. Lovely towels and bedding. Nice decor. Very cold on arrival and thermostat instructions are not up to date. King-size bed very squeaky and rickity, mattress a little hard. Main bedroom didn't really warm up until day 3, could do with better curtains to conserve heat. Some of the dining chairs are damaged so a little wonky.
- Alan (10/5): Exceptional - Great village location, gorgeous little house with a real cosy feel to it, really nice welcome pack, great communication from the host. A real pleasure to stay at an amazing place.
- Glenn (8/5): Very good -
- Simona (10/5): If only I could live here! - It felt like home, everything was exceptional
- Zoe (8/5): Had a great time - It was comfy and clean and great for a weekend away.
- Dixon (10/5): Stayed for work - Great little cottage There wasn’t anything not to like

- Rajendra (7/5): Good -
- Ashtree (8/5): Very good -
- Annette (10/5): Charming cottage, little gem ! - Perfect location for our wedding party. The property comfortably accommodated 5 adults, was clean , well equipped, with extra touches. The property owner was very flexible in meeting our early check in request, responding quickly to contacts. Nothing
- Samantha (10/5): Really great and highly recommended for a family self catering break, fabulous towels, lots of lovely touches and garden - Lovely cottage with a home from home experience
Great for self catering
- Samantha (9/5): good stay . nice and comfy ! -
- Robert (8/5): Very good -
- Anonymous (10/5): Such a welcoming place, from the minute we arrived it was like just home, everything was satisfying to our needs. lovely - So cozy and homely. it had all the necessities that we needed for our stay. We have nothing to complain about.
- Pauline (9/5): Superb - Beautiful spacious cottage, spent a couple of days for a wedding, lovely area.
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Elizabeth (8/5): Very good - Plenty of facilities including bin bags etc. Host was in contact straight away when there was an issue with the wi-fi (nothing host could have done to avoid the issue). Very clean. Easy parking. Welcome basket on arrival Bunk beds not ideal for 2 adults to share but was fine for a night or two but wouldnt want longer than that in them. Key safe very high up so if no member of party is above 5'5 could be an issue to access key.
- Axel (10/5): Excelent base for a motorcycle tour to North Wales from London! -
- Natasha (10/5): We loved staying in this beautiful cottage and would definitely return and stay there again. - The cottage was perfect, very spacious and well equipped. The host had thought of everything and really went the extra mile. We accidentally left behind a pair of our child's slippers and she contacted us to let us know she had found them and then posted them back to us! Nothing. We didn't find the key cabinet straight away but that was no doubt due to the fact we were tired after our drive and it was raining so we didn't look as carefully as we should have!
