Guest Reviews
- Gioia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rose (9/5): Beautiful view, peaceful and comfortable - Beautiful view, comfortable bed, lovely vibe. WiFi good enough to teach our online classes while we were there. It’s mainly unstaffed - a very nice man comes to empty bins every day but other than that the guests are mainly there alone. Which is very peaceful! We had an incident with the cat pooping in the kitchen but the owner apologised and came to clean the kitchen.
- Sam (8/5): Very good -
- Ryan (9/5): Beautiful, special unique stay in the mountains - The property is so beautiful! The view is amazing obviously. It’s a really special and interesting place, I’ve never seen anything like it! You need to be prepared for how high up the hill it is. You can get a tuktuk to the top of the road nearby but there’s still a walk up the hill to it
- Quinn (1/5): Bad. - Nothing. Everything.
- Jesse (7/5): Good -
- Floris (10/5): Exceptional - Location, view, the vibe , and it's just a very beautiful and relaxed place Dogs barking,
- Maloney (8/5): Very good -
- Ken (1/5): For the price would choose something closer to the lake. - The manager, Aurora, is friendly and great. The view from the hang out area was amazing, and the cat was so friendly and fun. This may be a good choice for young travelers, although through Booking.com it was overpriced in my opinion. Several factors earned less than great overall rating.
1. The hike up to the property is 500 feet unless you take a tuk tuk to the end of the road, which I suggest unless you’re in very good condition. It is still a steep 10 minute hike up the hill on a dirt trail. Impossible if you’re not backpacking.
2. The beds, bedding, and towels are barely sufficient. Clean but worn. The beds were not comfortable and too short for anyone 6’ or taller
3. Only a cold shower available and bathroom not up to high standard of cleanliness.
4. Booking.com did not mention they only accept cash.
- Lydia (8/5): Serene place with lovely staff - Super serene location and very accommodating staff! My timings ended up being off but Aurora was more than happy to accommodate me! Bery grateful for that. Bed was super comfy and felt very relaxed in the room. Great kitchen with lots of amenities There was some dirt on my sheets and pillows when I got there but I just brushed it off and I was fine :) everything else was clean!
- Holly (10/5): Very wonderful place to stay and if you like feeling connected to nature this is the perfect location! - This space was very beautiful! Getting to sit on the hammock and be outside was so relaxing. From the top bed you could see the view and I woke up to watch the sunrise in bed it was spectacular. Very good communication from Aurora! There was no hot water for showers but I did not mind as it gets hot during the day and a cold shower felt nice. It’s partially outside and has an incredible view for the shower. You do have to walk a bit through the forest and a bit uphill to get to the property which I liked but just to be aware when booking. There was a couple living there and sharing the living space which as a solo traveller felt a bit odd like I was intruding on their space. They did speak to me a little bit mainly kept to themselves.
- Anke (8/5): Aurora helped us with everything. Loved her help 💗 - The view, the hammock and all the plants 🌱 A little bit more water in the shower would have been great!
- Eeva (8/5): Very good - Earthship does require a steep climb bit the views were stunning. The family room was amazing and the common area was very cozy for hanging out. There was not enough drinking water and toilet paper, the washing up sponge was old and dirty.
- Marc (9/5): What a view! - Aurora, the host, was awesome. And man oh man, this place is gorgeous. The view is awesome. The bed was super comfortable and the outdoor shower was great. It's at the top of a mountain, and you need to walk down a dirt trail, and then guess your way up the hill onto another trail, and then finally guess your way to a door/gate that leads to steps made out of old tires. It is physically exhausting, and then if you want to go get a beer in town... do it all in reverse. What a haul.
And there's no real hot water to speak of. And it is basically camping in a fancy ass cabin. So if you don't like bugs and spiders, this isn't for you.
- Earl (9/5): Superb -
- Farhana (9/5): Superb -
- Swift (9/5): Fresh air, rare sunlit surroundings - It was nearly camping but with all the indoor amenities. Bugs
- Lauren (9/5): Super beautiful treehouse vibes with inviting staff and tranquil energy - It felt like the coolest treehouse stay! The staff were so sweet. The pet kitty and dogs were such a plus. The shared area is inviting. The rooms are definitely on the moist side. Super high up the hill with a steep dirt path. Have to be in good shape to get up the hill. The hot water for the shower goes in and out.
- Claudio (8/5): Beautifully views - Awesome views and surroundings, great and spacious concept rooms, free drinking water, common outdoor shower The place has a lot of potential, common areas (kitchen) appear a little abandoned
- Xav (8/5): A spot at the mountain top - Once i got up there, it got really comfortable during the day as well as the night. It is quiet and i found peace, overlooking the lake and well as the village. Wether i was cooking, working out or just chilling, the view always added a little something to it. The room/building is way too humid!
- Katrina (8/5): Very good -
- Yolanda (4/5): Disappointing - The views are spectacular. The location is not comfortable, you should walk in the forest for 5 minutes to get to the accommodation. The room and comoun areas weren't clean enough.
- Freya (10/5): Exceptional -
- Adam (8/5): Very good -
- Danika (10/5): Peaceful paradise - Unbelievable hostel, so relaxing and beautiful views. We meant to stay for 1 night and stayed for 4! There was some confusion about the layout, we thought it included a private kitchen but the manager was very apologetic and helpful. She foxed the listing straight away.
- Gabriela (10/5): Beautiful, quiet and peaceful place to enjoy Atitlán Lake. It was so nice to meet Aurora. Thanks! - Beautiful place to rest. Quiet & peaceful.
Great view and such a nice and kind host!
- Charles (5/5): Meh - Hot water was nice. Never had to use the shared bathroom and couldn't. View is ok. Full kitchen. Free drinking water. Cute architecture. Far far far up the hill and barrio dos is a bit sketchy. So probably add tuktuk fees then walk more anyway.
Lots of bugs to fight because the construction is poor so ants, flies, wasps, spiders, you will live with them.
Manager of property is usually not there.
Barking from street dogs from whole town resonate up the hill.
Low ceilings in strange construction means lots of ducking to move about the weird "earthship".
Door drags on floor which is annoying.
