- Andrea (10/5): - Lovely clean inviting little house. Felt very homely and comfortable there. Host very accomodating to allow us early access to put food in fridge ect on arrival day. Thankyou we had a great stay
- Clare (8/5): - Close to the beach and shops, cozy little cottage Nothing
- Jo Wornell (6/5): - Excellent location Smell of cigarette smoke from the house next door which shared a communal entrance. Nothing was very comfortable.
- Katherine (9/5): Great location for exploring beach and local area - Close to beach and local shops.
Dog friendly.
Comfortable and well appointed.
Parking close by was not a problem.
- Michael (9/5): very cosy and well-equipped cottage, close to shops and beach - self-contained cottage set back from High St, no problem unloading outside and parking a hundred metres away. All mod-cons inside - doggy-welcome bag and firewood were especially appreciated. Marske's dog-friendly beach is a short-walk away and stretches a couple of kilometres in both directions
- Jane (5/5): -
- Gareth (8/5): This was a perfect place to stop for a couple of nights while attending a family gathering. -
- jayne (8/5): - Location
Wood burner
Well equipped kitchen although we only used kettle & microwave Dog next door barking
Downstairs loo tiny
- Chris (10/5): -

- Timmis (10/5): - Stayed here before. Came back as it is very lovely. Nothing really
- Kyle (10/5): -
- Rebecca (8/5): Pleasant stay, good location for a mini break and for long walk on the beach with the dog. - Close to the beach and amenities, property is homely and comfortable. Conscious that my comings and goings did disturb the dog in the neighbouring dwelling.
- Amy (7/5): - Location

- graham (10/5): - 3rd time we've stayed in this lovely cottage, very comfortable and well equipped and just a short walk from the beach. It's a credit to its owners we love it . What's not to like.oh apart from the ship across the rd being shut down but we were fine having a walk up to the zetland
- Allen (7/5): - A lovely quaint cottage with a open wood fireplace đ Unfortunately the shared entrance isnât very pleasant with the very strong smell of smoke
The toilet down stairs isnât suitable to use if your above 5 foot tall!! You cannot get in!
- David (5/5): Marke by the Sea - Near to where we needed to be for a wedding Strong smell of paint, air freshener in every room also very strong scent. Strong smell cigarettes fron neighbouring property making it unpleasant even with windows open.
Loud traffic noise made it difficult to sleep.
Don't feel we had value for money overall .
Plenty of hanging space but no other storage for clothes in main bedroom
- Darren (8/5): -
- Andreea (8/5): Great value for money - Excellent location, 7 minutes to beach, 3 minutes to great bars, pubs and restaurants. The property has everything you might need for a short stay, except towels but we were informed about it beforehand. Parking isn't an issue as the village has plenty of spaces to offer. We loved how dog friendly it was. Would definitely stay again.
- Helen (10/5): Sandstone Cottage - Lovely little cottage in a great location. Well equipped
- Sue (8/5): Great stay in a good location - The cottage was great. I was slightly concerned about the smell of cigarette smoke in the communal hallway however you couldnât smell it in the cottage. The fridge needs fixing there werenât any suitable shelves on the door for bottles, for example milk. Fridge needs fixing
- david (10/5): Met all our needs, good location - No breakfast
Parking ok if you know the area Shared front door
- Kate (8/5): -
- Jess Rose (9/5): - Very cute and well kept
- Peter (8/5): Nice cottage, close to the beach, very clean. A great place to stay. - This is a great little house, tucked away on the high street. It was just me and my wife but you could easily take a couple of kids as there is a bunk room. I knew it didn't have a garden which I thought would be a pain for the dog but there is actually a little sun area out the back which leads into a small communal area. Great location, no more than a 10 minute walk to the beautiful Marske beach. Nothing really.
- Caroline (9/5): Superb -
- Caron (8/5): Nice little place to stay great location - Great location Couldn't work the heating but rest was fine
- Stuart (10/5): Exceptional - Everything, beds were so comfy, the secret games room upstairs was perfect for my little one as we at first felt a little uncomfortable about him being in the bunk beds downstairs.
Having a TV in the bedroom was such a surprise, the shower was lovely too. Comfy sofa, great fitted kitchen. Location was ideal. 5 minutes to the beach. Sainsburys and takeaway places 5 minutes up the road. The only thing that the property missed was an iron and ironing board. Everything else was perfect.
- Lisa (8/5): Lovely stay has by all - It was a lovely cottage near all the amenities and close to the beach. Well equipped, clean and tidy, with comfy beds. Although no parking, we didnât find it an issue. We unloaded our things out the front and then parked in the big car park at the back of the shops. Didnât need the car again until we left so all good Nothing really. We had issues with the shower. Only luke warm but not sure if that was our fault or not! Hot water downstairs though so not sure đ€
- Carlaj2 (8/5): Very good -
- Eloise (10/5): A lovely relaxing stay with all facilities required. Close to the beach and some lovely food/drink establishments. - Closeness to the town and beach A little small for a family and 2 labradors!
- Kerry (10/5): Brilliant, will definitely stay again. - Great location, log burner was fab. The bed was so comfy!
The kitchen had everything we needed, we stayed for Christmas and cooked a Christmas dinner whilst there. There is a little Sainsburyâs up the road, a coop, pub etc, itâs a great location. There was nothing to dislike, itâs a great little place.
- Terry (7/5): Location is great if your away for walking on beach or cliff tops for Cleveland way - Location great for beach walks to saltburn and local bars and pubs which are mainly open on a weekend Being a non smoker they was a constant smell of smoke in the shared hallway
- George (8/5): Very good - location was fantastic nothing not to like
- Graham (10/5): home from home - a proper little home from home and an absolute credit to the owners it was perfect
- Keith (9/5): Fantastic stay in a beautiful cottage - Great cottage in a great location, well furnished and containing everything you could think of or need for a holiday let, the log burner just tops it off for the colder evenings. Only downside was the smell in the communal hallway to the property.
- Julie (8/5): Lovely stay in a beautiful location - Lovely cottage in a great location. Beautiful places to visit close by. Tastefully decorated and so comfy. Loved the log burner. My boys were so surprised to find the games room in the loft!
- Nicholas (8/5): Very good -
- Heather (8/5): Great stay with our pooches - The cottage is very close to beach and all of the townâs amenities
- Graham (10/5): Home from home - The cottage is very cosy especially in the evening when you return from a long dog walk and relax with a drink in front of a lovely log fire .The cottage is tastefully decorated and really comfortable and felt like home from home. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need and the shower room is bright and airy as is the lovely bedroom ( the bed is really comfy) .The location is very good with a sainsbury local, restaurants and a nice pub just down the road. The owners of the cottage were very helpful with directions and info about parking etc and have left a very informative file in the kitchen that contains tons of helpful information. Overall we had a really great experience and will definitely be booking again . Can't think of a single thing.
- Vicki (10/5): Cosy home and good location - Clean, central to amenities and cosy Toilet downstairs was a bit on the tight side but canât complain having two loos!
- Emma (9/5): Exploring the east coast - Location and facilities Upstairs loo
- Helen (10/5): Perfect family break - Great size and location, near the beach.
Everything we needed was there Nothing
- Simonne15 (7/5): Close to the coast, central location. - The location and facilities. Lack of handrail on the stairs was seriously difficult and potentially dangerous.
Some areas not cleaned: the oven/grill pan and upstairs bathroom behind the toilet seat -see attached photo.
- Linda (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, minutes from the beach, my kids loved the Xbox in the loft.
- Jocelyn (9/5): A comfortable cottage in a very convenient location - The cottage was well fitted out and the kitchen had plenty of equipment.
There were hot water bottles provided, as well as blankets, which was a nice touch.
Location was in the centre and extremely convenient for cafes and a very short walk to the coast.
It was nice not to be asked to pay an extra 'bond' before our stay - this is one reason I chose this property over others in the area
- Cross (9/5): Superb - Very clean wifi Location good but no parking. No parking. Main road windows open due to heat noisy with road. Down stairs loo very compact. Upstairs loo noisy.
- Gail (8/5): Nice little cottage nice little town - Nice & close to shops & beach . Friendly little town Just the shared hallway that lets it down as it was mucky & smelly
The cottage itself was lovely
- Dzuljeta (8/5): My recommendation for beach location - Very good location just centre for everything short walk to beach ! Easy to find and nice neighbourhood! We are travelling with dog and had plenty of rooms for all of us ! Just be aware if you tall person watch your head my husband hit his head several times because entrance in kitchen area very low he was really struggling there but generally itâs not a big problem just needs more attention and watch where he walks All good
- Helen (7/5): Good -
- Cathy (10/5): Gorgeous quirky cottage by the sea - What a gorgeous little place! Really cute and quirky. Comfortable and cosy. Beds were comfortable, nice living room and well equipped kitchen. The location is fabulous, just a short walk from the sea. The hosts gave us all the information we needed about finding it and getting the keys. I thought it was exceptional value. It was a bit annoying not having towels provided, but the host let us know in advance so we were able to bring our own.
- Carlaj2 (9/5): Superb - Location is great for the dog friendly beach and the centre of Marske with it's good choice of restaurants and shops.
It was our second stay here and we'll be back. We are a family group of 3 adults and one Labrador and there's everything we need here. It's lovely and warm and the outside hosepipe is great for washing sand off feet. Beds are a little soft for us, but we like really firm beds so it's probably ok for most.
- Lucy (8/5): Lovely cosy home away from home - Lovely little home away from home, well equipped. In a perfect location for beach walks as well as the shops and restaurants/ cafes Downstairs toilet is very small.. but it is an extra loo so not a problem.
- Andrew (10/5): Great little break in a lovely cottage in a fab location. - Great location, only a few minutes walk to the beach! and a nice walk along the beach to Saltburn. Nothing
- Heather (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emily (10/5): Great little cottage with brilliant access to beach and amenities. - Great location, only a few minutes walk to the beach at Marske. As you are on the high street, there is only a short walk to the supermarket, chemist, brilliant pizza restaurant and pubs.
- Laurie (10/5): Fab 3 night break, some fab restaurants and a beautiful beach⊠great property, weâll definitely be back again! - Clean and tidy, small but perfectly formed.
Great location, very communicative host!
- Jane (8/5): Lovely 2 night break by the sea. - Real fire, Netflix, cosy lounge and nice kitchen. Comfy bed Downstairs toilet too small, tricky to use but we managed.
- Vanessa (9/5): Super clean comfy cottage close to the sea and local amenities - Location was great - a short walk to the beach and to local restaurants and train station. Parking nearby if you can find a space. Cottage was very clean and well kitted out in the kitchen. The bedroom is very sweet - would have preferred a slightly larger bed and a firmer mattress
- Karen (5/5): Passable - The location The next door neighbour's having a domestic in the early hours of the morning swearing shouting banging doors not what you want on your weekend away đ
- Rothwell (10/5): Exceptional - Everything, log fire fantastic Maybe toilet downstairs but didn't bother us much, could do with hand rail on stairs but that's it
- Janet (6/5): Pleasant - The location was excellent. Didn't have to use the car much, plenty dog walking, cafes, shops close by.
Log burner was a bonus.
Kitchen facilities were clean and adequate. Needs a teapot!
Comfy bed Lack of internal doors meant it was draughty.
A bit cramped, especially the eating area
Communal area was a bit smelly.
Macerator in the bathroom was a bit startling
Lack of parking, difficult for loading / unloading with dogs.
- Steve (6/5): OK for a weekend - Location good. Property was a little small.
Low beams, headroom and lampshades. I am very tall. Musty smell in entrance. Double bed was small.
- Nadine (10/5): Fantastic cottage by the sea -
- Nadine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional - The location is absolutely superb, perfect for the beach with plenty of shops, cafes and pubs in walking distance Nothing, it was perfect
- Sally (10/5): A perfect family weekend in a quaint little costal cottage! - Sandstone Cottage is a beautiful quaint little cottage. This little gem is located on the High Street in walking distance to Marske Beach. We fell in love with the Cottage on arrival. Wow.. just wow! Itâs a beautiful mix of contemporary and sea side cottage. Our Grandchildren were so excited with the bunk beds and our 3 year old grandson stayed in bed for the whole night for the first time in his little life! The beach is quiet and unspoiled. Saltburn-By-The-Sea is a short drive away.
The cottage is equipped with everything a family could need from beautiful crockery, luxury hand soap and hand cream to buckets and spades. It just keeps on giving. Thank you Cindy & Dave: We are so pleased that we chose your beautiful costal retreat.. the best we have ever stayed in!
We will definitely be back.. Not much but itâs worth knowing that the bedroom with the bunk beds is off the kitchen.. has itâs own toilet (which is handy) but is on a separate level to the main bedroom although only a small staircase away. Worked for us as our Granddaughter is 9 so she helped with our 3 year old grandson
Main Road traffic is noisy if youâre not used to it, but thatâs the pay off for being so central, otherwise perfect đđ»
- Sam (10/5): Home from home - 2nd stay as sandstone cottage. This is home from home and we canât wait to book again. Everything you need in a great location. Sandstone cottage head our hearts. Thanks again! That we couldnât stay longer!
- Yvonne (10/5): Had a really lovely time in Marske. Great position to walk to Saltburn and Redcar, along the beach. - The kitchen facilities were great for self catering.
The cottage was really pretty and had everything you could need. The downstairs toilet is a bit of a squeeze, but its the second toilet in the house so still handy to have.
- Brian (5/5): Disappointed and poor value for money. - Location good Parking and size of property very steep staircase no hand rails and no indication that it is not suitable for disabled.
- Lizzy (10/5): Exceptional - This is a beautiful cottage in an amazing location just 5 minutes from the beach and 40 minutes walk down the beach into saltburn. I would definitely recommend.
- Claire (9/5): Everything we needed was there. - We chose Sandstone Cottage because we knew the location well. It was convenient for everything we wanted to access over the weekend. It had all the facilities we needed. We would definitely stay here again if we have another weekend in Marske. Can't think of anything we didn't like.
- Katie (9/5): Clean and cosy, a lovely base for exploring the area -
- Carol (8/5): We had a very enjoyable vacation thank you - Communication was great with the host The back yard was disappointing.
- Nicola (10/5): Convenient, clean and comfortable. - Absolutely spotlessly clean. Nothing
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Nic (8/5): Great cottage especially for short stays. - Great town/village. Didnât realise the amount of traffic, not use to it.
- Carlaj2 (9/5): Super stay in Marske by the Sea - Location was superb. Very well equipped. Found Sandstone cottage easily. Spotlessly clean, well equipped property. We will return Nothing of any significance
- Colin (8/5): Perfect location - Had everything we needed for our trip ti the seaside fur a few days.
- Sharon (8/5): Very good - The cottage was delightful and very tastefully decorated. It was a real home from home and had everything we needed for our stay. The owners have made good use of the space available to them and the little yard at the back with outdoor seating was great for the dog so he could go in and out as he wanted. He also loved the wing back chair!!
The location of the cottage is excellent, 5 minutes walk to shops/takeaways and the beach and a couple of minutes to the Brown Cow pub which serves good food and is dog friendly.
There is no private parking but we could use the car park at the Brown Cow or the disabled space close to the cottage so it didnt pose a problem for us at all. Not really a negative but the only thing missing was a washing machine everything else was perfect
- Susan (8/5): The property was lovely and we had a very pleasant stay - It was convenient for the wedding we were attending. There was a downstairs toilet which was very welcome and the shower was a good size. The kitchen was lovely although we didnât use it very much. The area was lovely There wasnât really anything we disliked but a handle in the shower and a banister up the stairs would have been very welcome as weâre both in our 70âs
- Katherine (8/5): Very good -
- Susan (10/5): Down for relative birthday party - Perfect Location Nothing everything was ok
- Anonymous (10/5): wonderful! Home from home! - A little gem. so pleased we found this property. already planning our next trip. great base to see surrounding areas. The cottage has everything you need for a cosy retreat and excellent value too.

- Lucinda (10/5): Really wonderful break, will be back - Everything was perfect, there were even games and booms for the kids and a snug in the attic with an Xbox!
