- George (9/5): Very pleasant - My wife and I stayed with our 5 year old daughter to see some friends and family. We didn’t spend a huge amount of time in the property as we were only there for the 1 night. The place was warm and clean. Both beds were comfortable. With the winter it was pitch black when we arrived so didn’t have explore the village and surround area too much however I picked up good vibes from the place and seemed quite a safe place. I didn’t feel too bad about leaving our car around the corner. Didn’t really hear much in the way of traffic which is always a plus! Upon driving away in the morning we could see that the village looked like a lot of people took pride in their homes and the local pub looked nice from the outside. We had 4G and phone signal (on 02) got a message from the host welcoming us, the little key box was quite handy so we could arrive and leave with no issues. Check in time of 4pm and check out at 11pm seemed quite reasonable:) I think some of the negative reviews are a little harsh, it was £83 to stay the night and the home could have 3/4 people so could easily
Be split. Could the place do with some light refurbishments in the bathroom/kitchen……probably however, the cost is then gonna increase and no longer becomes a nice cheap place to stay.
I can see parking being a bit of a pain for some people however the host provided some useful information ahead of time on the booking information so I was aware of this when booking…..I think you would be fair to grumble if you wasn’t informed before hand!
- Lee (1/5): Horrific experience. - The location is poor - it is very difficult to find somewhere to park. There is no mobile phone signal, which makes using a Sat Nav impossible. The rooms are very small. The oven took a long while to heat up.
Worst of all, in the middle of the night, there was a loud 'bang' followed by the sound of running water and it turned out there was a problem with the boiler and there was water pouring from a pipe as though from a tap. Within seconds, we could hear water dripping through the ceiling downstairs. We were forced to evacuate the property because it was going to flood and we were fearful of carbon monoxide poisoning. We turned off the fuses and left the property at 3am before trying to find a signal for the sat nav that could direct us to a hotel. Eventually, after over an hour of searching, we managed to find somewhere to stay for the remaining few hours of the night.
An absolute nightmare of an experience.
Parkplatzsuche teilweise schwierig.
- Robert (8/5): It was charming.we were walking to Canterbury and needed a break halfway from Folkestone via Dover and it was perfect - Small but perfectly formed Nothing
- Peter (8/5): Enjoyable - Location, on route of the North Downs Way
- Olakunle (9/5): -
- Emily (7/5): Basic but pleasant - Good location in the village. We were on a walking weekend so perfect as the North Downs Way runs right through the village. Right next to a Co-op so good for supplies. Beds were comfy. Very responsive host which we appreciated. Kitchen and bathroom very basic. Only a mini fridge in the kitchen, but for us that was fine as it was only one night, would be problematic if staying for longer. The one thing I would change is putting a comfy sofa into the living area. Two very upright chairs and a very tiny hard sofa meant that in the evening there was no where to 'lounge' comfortably. After a long day it didn't feel like a place you could relax in. There were only two of us, but I imagine if there were more it would have felt crowded.
- martine (9/5): - Le calme et l'accès facile. Petit cottage agréable.
- Matthias (5/5): -
- Lacey (9/5): Nice place - Lovely little place in nice English village. Only stayed a night but went out for walk and found some nice places
- david (9/5): Had a nice time - The cottage was situated within walking distance of where we needed to be for a wedding. The owners were very helpful by letting us in early so we could change after a 260 mile journey. We would have been happy staying a bit longer if we could have, every Every thing was O.K. for us
- Carole (7/5): - Convenient for us to meet up with family.
Close to Co-op for shopping. Property a little tired. Needs a few updates. Bathroom tired. Front garden needs attention.
- Terry (10/5): The cottage was great - Great location

- Virginia (8/5): Acceptable Lodging in Shepherdswell - Five minute walk from the train station. Around the corner from small Coop food store. Easy check-in and the place was well supplied and clean. The bathroom is on ground floor while the bedrooms are upstairs. Stairs are steep so be careful at night using the bathroom.
- Gemma (8/5): Very good - Ideal location for our cycle event with comfortable beds Temperature control in the shower may need a bit of a fix as hard to adjust
- Graham (7/5): Good -
- Jeff (5/5): Suitable accommodation - Clean apart from the seasonal flies.
Good location for our needs.
Good key safe system Need enough crockery and glassware for the number of people in the house.
Could do with somewhere to put your clothes.
Shower hose just reaches the holder.
I wonder if the owners of most places ever stay in them.
- Susan (8/5): Cosy village cottage - Cosy cottage, nice village setting with coop next door. No off-road parking, could do with more crockery and bottle opener.
Stairs are steep so not for people with mobility problems. Toilet is downstairs
- Jacky_88 (8/5): Very good - Very convenient stop for anyone hiking the Via Francigena. The shower was incredibly finicky.
- Charles (5/5): Basic but comfortable for one night stop on Via Francigena. - Basic and quite tired property - adequate for our kind of stay (short, passing through as part of Via Francigena pilgrimage) but wouldn’t stay here again for a holiday.
Temperature gauge on the shower doesn’t work - fixed temperature - but there was plenty of hot water, although no bathmat. We washed all of the glasses and plates before use as they didn’t look properly clean. Useful amount of kitchen apparatus for prepping an evening meal. Fridge was left off and closed door which meant that it smelled stale.
Easy check in process - thanks.
- Rose (8/5): Cottage was very nice absolutely no problem either heating and hot water! - It was ideal for us as we were catching the ferry from Dover early in the morning only 15 mins drive A few touches such as bedside lights would make a difference
- Simon (7/5): Nice comfortable cottage well presented and equipped, but some issues with heating and water would stop us staying there - Nice comfortable cottage. Close to coop. In nice village No parking, was cold especially back bedroom, couldn’t get radiators working (though there was one electric heater), hot water in bathroom was fine (after it got going.. but the cold didn’t work!
- Paola (8/5): Very clean and friendly owners. Would recommend. But maybe not older relatives - Location near train station, convenience store and pubs Quite small lounge and stairwell steep and narrow. No toilet upstairs
- Evelyn (7/5): Very warm cottage & facilities good - Was there breakfast? Bedding
- Jaroslav (1/5): NEVER AGAIN - Absolutely nothing. The property was not clean when i came there and bunch of weird people were looking at me as if nobody wants me to be there. The property was so small and dirty. Water leakage from the drain i tried to call the number that i got provided but nobody answered. No hot water no heat. An absolute nightmare
- Shaq (10/5): I would stay again. - I honestly thought this property was reasonably priced and was in a quite location. The host was very communicative and I feel like people should just email if they have a problem. I read the last review and was actually surprised about the things they had mentioned. However, everyone will always have different opinions and is entitled to have them.
I really enjoyed the shower as it was hot. The property was quite cold on arrival but soon warmed up after putting the heater on. The bed was soooo comfy and I felt like I was at home. Overall we had a good experience with the property and the host.
Host allowed me to pick up some stuff I had left. Excellent customer service! The Wifi did not work and that was annoying as the area has bad phone reception. I still managed to watch a film on my phone, so I guess I cannot complain about that.
- Suzy (2/5): Very uncomfortable and disappointing. All accommodation should provide warm water to wash. - Very clean
Check in instructions were good No hot water
No plug available for a bath but wouldn’t have had one as the water was freezing!
Mattress was very soft and we all felt cold in bed as there were just 2 small plug in radiators working. Not enough to heat the house comfortably.
The TV also didn’t work!!!
At least they had provided tea and coffee and a working kettle.
We left immediately on waking and had to find a place to have breakfast.
