- Rosemary (9/5): - Right in town, great kitchen. Need to brush cobwebs from ceiling
- Stacey (8/5): Handy location - Perfect location close to town and Victorian precinct and penguins. You can walk everywhere from here. Not really any off street parking, we weren't comfortable to park our ute on the steep small grass space up the back. Free street parking on weekend tho
- boyang (10/5): - fireplace
- Judith (8/5): - Great location. Once we parked our car we walked everywhere.Nice eating places nearby.
- Robert (9/5): - No breakfast supplied. Location great for historic district. Loved the open fire set for our arrival.
Oamuru stone walls
- Helen (7/5): - The style and old school furniture and kitchen table etc, lovely. The bed was very hard, I like a soft bed but accept some places are firm but my hsuband likes a firm bed but this was hard and we woke with sore bodies.
- LiChi (10/5): -
- Janelle (9/5): - The apartment was very lovely, the fireplace made it nice and cosy. The bed was nice and comfortable, and there was plenty of storage for our belongings. We enjoyed having a view of the lovely courtyard garden. Jay sent us all the relevant information prior to check-in, which made it very easy. The apartment is in a lovely part of town, an easy walk to restaurants, cafes, shops and the coast. We loved Oamaru and really enjoyed our stay at Heritage Hideaway and would definitely stay there again. The couch wasn't overly comfortable.
- Sarah (10/5): - Gorgeous apartment in perfect location !
- Michael (7/5): If you like heritage buildings this is the place for you! - The location was excellent. The bed was comfortable. Everything was very clean. The kitchen was well equipped.
Well laid out and lots of room for two people. Overlooked a beautiful courtyard. No microwave. Had a musty smell.
- Sean (7/5): Overall a very fun place to stay! - The location was very nice. It had a full service kitchen! We would prefer a firmer mattress.
- Shiree (10/5): - Gorgeous comfortable apartment. It was a little chilly so the fire was set ready to go when we arrived.
- Glenis (7/5): Was expensive considering no parking etc - Clean and good locality No all day parking. 30min restricted 10.30-4.30
Unit smelt very musty
- Percy (9/5): -
- Gareth (8/5): The perfect heritage stay in a heritage town. - Loved the character. Very convenient location.
- Wanda (10/5): Tranquility - It was absolutely amazing. Great ambiance. Tastefully decorated. Did not even bother us that there is no tv. Definitely nothing not to like
- Melanie (9/5): -
- CHIH-YAO (9/5): -
- Andrew (9/5): -
- Kris (9/5): Relaxing and loved the fire - Very stylish decor
- Mike (8/5): Great place, would stay there again. - Location was great with excellent restaurants within walking distance. Hosts were most helpful. The accommodation was a bit different from the usual, a little retro and it had an excellent woodburner which suited the cosy atmosphere. We had a little difficulty finding the entrance as the door was down the side of the building. Some details on the booking info in this regard would be helpful.
- Fayen (10/5): Exceptional - The fire was so nice Loved when we arrived they had turned on the lamps so it really created a lovely ambience We knew there wasn't a TV but a radio some board games or even a pack of cards would have been nice
- Maree (10/5): Exceptional - Heritage Hideaway is full of charm and character; great location in the old historic area, clean and spacious with a well equipped kitchen and cosy lounge with wonderful fireplace (wood, pinecones and matches on hand). Plenty of other heating also and the electric blanket was lovely on a cold night. Super quaint and charming. The only issue we had was it was a little tricky to find, a number on the wall pointing down the lane to the door might help 🙂.
- Dayle (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely stay in a gorgeous unit. Close to everything cool Oamaru has to offer. We'll be back for sure.
- Rachel (10/5): Loved it - Great location, very thoughtful hosts who had left some supplies to make a meal as it was a public holiday and shops not open, they also had the log burner ready to light which made for a very cosy evening
- Phil (9/5): Superb -
- Juliette (10/5): Exceptional - The property had been so thoughtfully put together. Everything had been so well considered. The fire had been laid, there was lovely bedding, and a great selection of teas.
Thank you so much.
- Andrew (9/5): Superb - Lovely little space right in the heart of Victorian Oamaru.
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Margaret (5/5): Passable -
- Gail (7/5): Good - The unit was warm and comfortable. Loved the quirkiness and layout. We were only in the unit to sleep the 1 night and have a shower. We didn't need to use the kitchen facilities other than made a cuppa of tea. Thank you for providing milk, but we didn't need it. It was quiet and handy for walking around. Thank you. We didnt take any photos. It was a bit musty and needed the windows opened, but I guess with it being shut up, that could happen.
- Julie (9/5): Superb - Great location, we walked to town, we loved the décor
- Yixuan (10/5): Exceptional - We enjoyed our stay at heritage hideaway so much! The location is convenient to walk to the precinct area. The host prepared the fire and that’s a bonus for our trip especially we arrived on a cold raining day. The space is nicely decorated with vintage pieces and super cozy at the same time.
- Kirsty (10/5): Exceptional - Just loved this place,
- Lesley (8/5): Cute apartment, great location - Excellent location if you want to be central
- Deidre (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gregory (9/5): Absolutely loved the position and highly recommend this stunning property! - Stunning comfortable and spacious! Fire set for the evening! Maybe just another heater
- Philippa (9/5): Superb -
- Chris (9/5): A very comfortable heritage listed building - We loved the location and historic charm
- Anthony (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tatiana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tiffani (8/5): Heritage Hideaway for Steampunk - Location was great. Was very cute and homely. Was very clean. Enjoyed the fire, was easy to start the fire.good wardrobe space. Fibre internet was fast. Bed was not comfortable for us. Might need a mattress upgrade to a pocket spring mattress. Couch was a little low for us. Also missed a microwave, for quick porridge in the morning. No long mirror so we could check our outfits for steampunk festival.
- Natalie (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean
Everything one needed and some
- Simon (9/5): Superb -
- Susan (9/5): Superb - Beautiful cottage in the heart of Oamaru.
Great location especially if you have a reservation at Cucina.
The accommodation was clean and had everything you could need. Wonderful log burner for a cold night.
I highly recommend this place. Nothing
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional - Thanks for a lovely stay. We loved the location and enjoyed staying in a quirky apartment that fit so well into Old Oamaru and its quirky folk.
- Sjaan (10/5): Fantastic stay in a quaint, quiet and well situated spot the heart of Oamaru Old Town - This was such a fantastic place to stay in Oamaru. The location could not have been better — right in the middle of Old Town, but tucked off the street which meant there was no noise. The place was wonderfully decorated and had everything you could need, and the fire was a nice touch. Highly recommend.
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional - Comfortable, clean, quiet and beautiful property. Very well equipped and great location. On street parking. Had a great stay.
- Tina (4/5): Okay - It was clean and great location There was only one towel each for a whole weekend and we had been travelling. The next day was very very hot and we had been out. There was a washing machine but no drying facilities the building is south facing so couldn’t even dry inside a where as it was cool and no sun inside.
- Therese (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely property situated close to the historic precinct, town and local bars and restaurants. Charming home and everything that you might need for a short or long stay.
- Ali (9/5): Charming romantic getaway in the heart of old town Oamaru. - The house is so completely charming. What a wonderful cozy place to stay. Quiet. Relaxing. It reminded me of the place that Cameron Diaz stays in the movie The Holiday. And the foot poof was so good we're going to find out where to get one. Couldn't have had a better location. Easy walk to the old section of town and the farmer's market. The shower is small, would have liked some shampoo/conditioner. No milk provided, but easy walk to the dairy so not a huge issue. No microwave (not an issue, but good to note).
- Catherine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Martin (5/5): Hideway - Location was good. The bed was comfortable and the place moderately clean. No TV or radio plus parking on the street was unacceptable as there was a 30 minute time zone out side the apartment.
- Murray (9/5): Very nice, great location, comfy bed and furniture, great setup. - The location was great and close to Harbour St. Friendly and helpful neighbours. Very safe location. All ok.
- Cecilia (6/5): Hope there’s more notice for maybe the longest time for a shower or no towels so we can be prepared. - The decorations are great. The kitchen has pretty much all the basic things you need to cook. Quiet at night. Locations are not easy to find at night, probably easier to find when there’s daylight, but it’s called hideaway so fair enough.
My boyfriend took shower first and then me. Water turn cold before I finished the shower, I have to use cold water to finish washing my body. That’s quiet unpleasant in a cold night right after we caught some cold from penguins watching.
And the towels are not clean, there are hair and stains and dead spider on it so we couldn’t use it. Better bring your own towel.
- Ann (8/5): Very good -
- Lynda (9/5): Superb -
- Rowena (10/5): Helpful friendly host. - Good selection of arty magazines. Didn't miss the TV. I am disabled so a hand rail on for the path steps would be helpful.
- John (8/5): Close to the Victorian area - It was comfortable and near the Victorian area. Host was readily available and very friendly. Exterior was not impressive and garden area didn’t appear to be accessible. Heat was a wood stove. Very old but updated. Street parking.
- Blair (9/5): For my expectations, it served the purposes intended, well done! - The location to everything we required was perfect. Breakfast cafes, Star & Garter Restaurant/Cafe was superb, public gardens, nostalgia precinct.. There was no TV, for us not a big inconvenience, nice to have had another option... The fire box and the firewood size was not compatable with no axe to
- Nicola (10/5): Gorgeous heritage unit in the heart of Oamaru, a stonethrow from the old quarter - We absolutely loved staying at the Heritage Hideaway - the location was fabulous (right next to Oamaru's beautiful old quarter but very nice and quiet) and the unit itself was incredibly cosy with a fireplace and extremely comfy bed. We will definitely be back again! We loved it, no negatives from our perspective!
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maura (10/5): Loved it, will book again - Very tasteful decor, comfortable and so handy to everything
- Stephen (8/5): Good place for one night stay - Location Dust under the bed
- Drea (10/5): Will be our go to place in Oamaru from now on - Very central location. Wonderfully creative and sympathetic decor - great style and pizzazz but had everything we needed... and then some. Warm and cosy. Off street parking at the back of the property. Jay was very helpful and friendly. Nothing to dislike
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent. An Oamaru stone cottage in the heart of the town. Nothing to dislike.
- Justine (9/5): Wonderful accommodation. Jay was very helpful and responsive. We will definitely book here again - Tastefully decorated, generously large for the cost, brilliant location, private No wifi, television, bring your own soap and shampoo
- Anonymous (9/5): Very lovely. Great hosts. Will stay again. - Lovely renovated space. Fire was great to have. A little bit cold despite the fire.
