• Raul (4/5): A place to sleep well. The interior was no big comfort in being there. Was clean tho'. Appreciated - It was fair to good shelter Bed against the wall, No hot shower, looked rough outside. (No landscape or well groomed yard) A surprised surcharge after arrival
• Jp (9/5): Superb - Great for a couple days in Tortuguero. We had an issue with the air conditioner and Luis the owner was very accommodating. The kitchen is very sparingly set up so there is no way to really prepare any meals. Some coffee and cutting fresh fruits and vegetables form the market is all we were able to do.

They have people helping you from the other side when you arrive to park before the boat, help you organise activities and walk you to the villa. Villa is new and modern and spacious. We had plenty of coffee and sugar provided which was lovely. A cat visited us daily and was always in the room. He was clean and well kept. We named him Mr Kitty. Nothing! My only suggestion would be to add a small broom and dustpans so we can sweep floors when they get sandy :) and maybe a couple chairs for the balcony
• Monica (6/5): Pleasant - The location was great There was no room to store anything . No one came to greet us. The construction in the adjacent building was extremely loud . No indication of the villa . The shower made water everywhere No instruction to get there No hooks , no shelving .

Temper your expectations for the area and enjoy the wildlife! - Owner manager very helpful with checking in and getting there which can be complicated. Very clean and as with almost everywhere in the tiny area it’s within a very short walk from the boats, restaurants and tour operators. We had the second floor apartment which I think would be better because of all the rain. There are plenty of outlets in the bed area and the hot water worked well with high pressure. There is a coffee machine,, coffee and sugar with mugs (but no filters). The best attitude to have when you’re in Tortuguero is that you’re going camping. It’s a luxury to have the cold ac that this place has. Besides the constant loud croaking of toads this area is quiet like most areas of the peninsula/lagoon. Listing stated there was a refrigerator which there was not. The water isn’t drinkable there so a place to cool water off would be appreciated. As well as store some food because the restaurants close early. There was no way to cook any food or boil water. No toiletries provided except basic soap. Considering you have to take a tiny riverboat to reach the place and carry your luggage to and from the docks, it would be ideal to provide this for people so they don’t have to pack so much. Bedside tables and lamps would make relaxing more comfortable. June bug beetles were crawling under the sliding door by the dozens when it rained which is basically all night. The area in front of the place is just some unkempt grass that gets muddy with no walkway. This should be of note to people with mobility issues. Also not ideal for going in and out especially with luggage.
• Jane (4/5): Disappointing - with a little effort this could have been improved dramatically. - The location, 2 minutes walk from National Park, boat harbour and town. I do not like to give negative reviews but in this instance I feel the need to do so. The property is advertised with concierge service and tour desk - there was no evidence of either of these. There was no information provided within the property and the owner did not make contact with us during our stay (except for payment). Although we were asked to provide our arrival time (1-2pm) there was no-one there to meet us and give us the keys to the property. We had to go back to the offices of Exploradores (who we travelled with to Tortuguero) to ask for their help and they contacted the owner of the property for us (we were unable to contact the owner on our mobile phones). There was no toilet paper and no wi-fi details so we again had to go back to Exploradores office for them to contact the owner to rectify this. There was no hot water in the shower - the owner sent us various diagrams via WhatsApp for us to try but his advice did not work. The owner told us several times that the shower was new (as if this meant it should work). Eventually he asked us to check the circuit breaker and this rectified the problem. We were on the ground floor and there was no curtain netting on the window for our privacy - we were directly next to the busy pathway. This meant we had to have the curtains closed and the lighting on whenever we were in the property. The apartment above us was being renovated and the workmen were throwing builder's rubble on to the ground directly below us - never mind the noise, there was no consideration to our safety on entering and leaving the property. The property is situated on a plot of land with rubble and rubbish strewn around - no attempt has been made to tidy this up and make it less hazardous. When we told the owner that it was unacceptable he said that this property was not advertised with a garden - we advised him that we had not been expecting a garden but we had not anticipated staying on a work site.
