Guest Reviews
- Sesethu (8/5): It was an excellent stay - The staff is very kind and they are always there to help you.It is a very peaceful environment. The fact that we were told at the property that we are suppose to book a kitchen in advance yet I wasn't told during the booking.

Peaceful and tranquility. Beds were very comfortable slept really well. Only the sauna was not available as it was being refurbished. Which is understandable.

- Siyamthand (4/5): Enjoyed but disappointed at some point - The staff were friendly
They allowed us to enjoy ourselves, they didn’t complain about the noise. Here on booking.com they say there’s Spa and jacuzzi but when we arrived there, there is no such worse part I booked that place for Jacuzzi and Spa. There is no mats in the bathroom. You have to request spoons, forks, tv is not working. Sheets were not clean. Gravel road to Thornycroft is soo long and bad. I hope the owner can do better.
- nomfundo (8/5): - Road terrain
- Mvuzo (1/5): Very bad and will never recommend the establishment to anyone - I never had breakfast there. The place had a very bad gravel road that goes to the Lodge Everything. The place misled us by posting a good looking picture in their marketing tool where we booked but we got a totally different establishment

- Jama (10/5): The amazing place to be ❤️ - Our visit at Thornycroft Lodge was truly a wonderful experience. The lodge is set in a beautiful natural environment, surrounded by trees and a peaceful atmosphere that makes it perfect for relaxation. We enjoyed a lovely picnic under the trees, which added a special touch to our stay.
The pool was great, it was clean and refreshing and also the rooms were neat, comfortable, and well-maintained. The overall atmosphere of the place is calm and welcoming.
What stood out the most was the excellent service. The management and the lady Onwabile who assisted us were incredibly friendly, helpful, and attentive. They made us feel right at home and added to the enjoyment of our stay.
We had a lot of fun and would definitely recommend Thornycroft Lodge to anyone looking for a peaceful and beautiful getaway in nature.

- Narion Karen (8/5): Thornycroft Lodge - It's a great glamping environment, just on the outskirts of the city and into the serene of nature you find yourself. If you enjoy the early morning, natural lushy bush scenery walks, then this is the place for you. There's dogs on the precious who are very friendly. The staff are always willing to assist. The staff was amazing and always went to extreme lengths to accommodate us. Not having a fully equipped Lapa for cooking and enjoying meals was a disadvantage as delivering food or groceries was not possible.
Make sure the vehicle you driving is high and capable of driving through a river as municipality dopens the river slates after heavy rain.
- nomaphelo (5/5): - Quiet area and the staff was great 1.no chair in the rooms
2.no mat infront of the bed
3.no microwave,no plates glasses spoons you hv to ask everytime u want something
4.i hv to use the same towel for 2days
5.shower was not clean
6.water coming out of bar fridge we had to mop afta sometime.
- Veronica (10/5): - It's very quiet l slept like a baby Nothing that l've noticed in the site except the place is very far from the main road
- Mbali (2/5): I was not happy with the place- it was dingy and felt run down. - The receptionist was friendly, albeit a little too casual and informal. I was not happy with the place- it was dingy and felt run down. It was not what we were expecting and the communication was very poor. We were not informed that the area was quite remote and we would need bring our own food (even though room itself only had a mini fridge and a tea set) as getting access to food would be difficult. The only alternative was the accommodation's kitchen, but they also didn't have a menu or anything like that. Even trying to check out was difficult because the staff was not around.

- Vangiwe Nashwa (1/5): False advertising - Nothing we couldn't stay at that lodge, advertising is misleading Getting there was bad even with a 4×4 we drove it was bad, passing on other rooms where people were naked with no care , hanging underwear on the tree, there was a dog that looked very sick. We had to leave the place and booked another hotel since thornycroft couldn't cater for our needs. I will never book there or recommend to anyone.
- Mantyi (10/5): - It's so peaceful
- Arnott (5/5): - Staff were great No cutlery in the rooms. No microwave. Fan didn't work. Owner needs to put in more effort
- Ayabulela (9/5): -
- Chuma (7/5): - I did not receive breakfast
- Rawuzela (8/5): - Nice and quiet location, staff are very friendly and helpful
- Arnott (7/5): Owner must step up. - It wasn't terrible. The staff, especially Mildred, tried really hard to make us comfortable. He showed care and went the extra mile. Swimming pool was awesome for the kids.
If it wasn't for Mildred I might has requested a refund on the second night and found something somewhere else. T.V's in both rooms we stayed in didnt work. The bathroom door was broken. It nearly fell of in my hands. Fortunately I had my tools and I fixed it myself. There were no microwaves. No cutlery. Had to ask for a teaspoon. Shortage of towel. Only one in a room for two. Two in a room for 4. Fan didn't work in one room. It shook violently. The owner really needs to take more care as this place will fall into disrepair at this rate of neglect. The staff tried really hard to appease us but sadly certain issues are a direct reflection on the owner not caring about the place. I won't stay there again. Fortunately I was in good company and did my best to ignore the issues while there.
The photos must be old photos of the place when it was great. Sadly it's not like the pics.
- Cathy (9/5): Nice stay outside the city. - We enjoyed the swimming pool as it was very hot and the spacious garden allowed the kids to play outside. Host and staff were very friendly. I understand the place is starting operations and there is a few small things to be fixed. Not all rooms have chairs or a coach in it and a microwave would be helpfull in the rooms.
