Guest Reviews
- Sandra (9/5): - Close to centre Parking very difficult to find
- Richard (10/5): A lovely 4-floor house right in town close to all amenities. - Instructions sent in advance. The house was clean, tidy, well kitted out with everything you need, and lots of labelling of cupboards, drawers etc! It felt really comfortable and homely. We loved the 4 floors as it really broke up the space but anyone with mobility issues might struggle with all the steps. We would definitely stay again. Thank you to the hosts. Parking is challenging but that was the only thing.

- Claire (8/5): - The location was excellent with a lovely view from the bedroom window. The accommodation is away from the road so it's nice and quiet, although the kids' room backs onto a car park (we didn't use it so can't comment on the noise in that room). The rooms are spread over 4 floors (so be aware if you have mobility issues) and the main bedroom, dining room and living room are cosy. We liked that the heating works pretty quickly as it was quite chilly on a couple of days. Everything is very clearly explained/labelled so you can find your way around very easily. There was complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits which was a nice touch, and a cleaning pack with washing up liquid, a pod for the washing machine, a dish rag and bin bags provided by the agency. There was zero response from the owner despite the agency advising us to use their number as they were unable to help with our enquiry. The kitchen has lots of crockery/cutlery/glasses etc, but the saucepans are old and not great for cooking a proper meal. The dishwasher is small and has seen better days. The shower screen was mouldy along the bottom. Despite these negatives, the view and the things we liked definitely made up for it, and we would probably return.
- Kelly Obrazcova (10/5): Really spectacular, thoughtfully presented, absolutely worth the price - Really gorgeous views out of every window, perfect location, spotlessly clean, and extremely well appointed for a family stay. House manual was helpful and well written (the stove is not a model you run into often), lots of things were helpfully labeled so I didn't have to guess how to use the toaster or how the patio doors worked. Even the board games had all the pieces! Really spectacular, thoughtfully presented, and absolutely worth the price.
- Alan (9/5): Enjoyable stay in a lovely cottage with great facilities in a picturesque town - Lovely cottage hidden away from the street. Very well stocked with all you could need for a good holiday. Patio furniture in shed even. Only negative in the property is the pillows could do with changing. And nothing to do with the cottage but the noise of those seagulls in the morning!! You would definitely not be having a lie-in.
- Rowan (9/5): We really enjoyed the cottage and it's amenities. - The location is very central and convenient. The parking was expensive if you wanted to be close to the location.
Differcult to work out when arriving for the first time.
- Derek (9/5): Superb -
- Monica (7/5): Caution - Close to the amenities and nice views The stairs, the banisters don't go to the bottom of the stairs!
Dangerous as I had a fall and broken my ribs
- James (9/5): I really loved staying at Starlight Cottage! - Right in the heart of Whitby, but felt really peaceful due to the tucked-away location. Fantastic top-floor view over the rooftops across the harbour to the abbey. Spacious, comfortable and very well-equipped. A great place to stay and really good value for money. Nearby on-street parking (free using the provided scratchcards) was super convenient. Clear directions and instructions were provided. A couple of very minor maintenance points - broken kitchen bin, lamp not working in bedroom, some essential supplies provided in insufficient quantity.
- Peter (10/5): Excellent accommodation, excellent location. - Location and secluded garden terrace Nothing we can think of.
- Steve (10/5): Fantastic stay great view of the ruins from the bedroom window. Really warm and cosy. Everything you need has been thoug - Near to town centre but in a quiet area Nothing, there were a few steps between levels of the cottage. This did not bother us. It may for some
- Glynn (9/5): Another great stay at Starlight Cottage - It was our second stay at Starlight cottage we love its quiet central position, the upstairs bedroom has a lovely view across to the Abbey. The accommodation is very clean and well maintained. The welcome items are a bonus. We would certainly use the property again. The lighting could be improved in the passage which leads to the Cottage, but this is a very minor point.
