Guest Reviews
- William (10/5): - El personal muy atento a atender tus necesidades
- Melissa (10/5): Excellent stay with amazing food! - Beautiful and peaceful setting for rest from the Camino! The dinner and breakfast delivered to our accommodation was extraordinary! Freshly prepared and delicious!
- tony (10/5): Are stay here was pure luxury. The hosts were fantastic and we were well and truly spoilt. - Everything Nothing
- Mahdavi (9/5): -
- Shenda (10/5): Worth the short walk to it for a piece of tranquility - Very peaceful, clean and was perfect for a good nights rest. It is well worth the short 15 minute walk from the town. The vegetarian dinner was lovely and was more than enough to fill you up as was the breakfast the following morning.
- Kerry (7/5): Lovely Cabin, Remote, a bit far off the Camino Route, Host is very Helpful. - The Cabins are in a remote location, very peaceful and quiet. We were 3 ladies travelling and opted for 1 cabin, Alicia had advised that the room can sleep 4 but they only recommend 2 guests as the cabins are compact and cozy. In hindsight we should have booked 2 cabins, I would not recommend 3/4 people staying a a cabin. The cabins were very clean and spotless, we had a small kitchenette to make tea and coffee. We had the lovely dinner (Soup fabulous) in the main building due to the rain we had no space in our cabin. The breakfast was nice the following morning (Tomato Bruscetta lovely). The shower was excellent with good hot water which we needed, as we were frozen after the walking. The location is 1+km out of town the day we arrived walking from Ronscesvalles, we got caught in a thunderstorm, and were drowned by the time we got to Zubiri, unfortunately the host could not collect us, we tried to book a taxi but none were available. We got lost finding the cabins in the rain, Booking.com directions are not correct we walked pass the cabins. Make sure you get the correct directions and link from Alicia for google map. The sign for the cabins is not clear when its raining its a white sign on the ground. If you see a stop sign on the right you are there.

- Neil (10/5): Highly recommended - Alicia was so friendly and helpful. Excellent dinner and breakfast. Very comfortable bed. Lovely environment We liked everything about this property
- leonora (10/5): Beautiful cabins in peaceful countryside - Beautiful cabins in the middle of nature, thoughtfully done, ecological It was a bit of a walk from the town
- George (10/5): Clean, quiet, and peaceful - Dinner and breakfast was really good - seemed home made. Staff were amazing.
- Tiffinie (10/5): Our favourite stay on the Camino. Would have like to have stayed longer. - Beautiful restful position - a great place to relax. We were on the Camino de Santiago and this was a perfect place to enjoy some peace and rest in stunning countryside. Very relaxing and beautiful. Breakfast was amazing. The best we had on the Camino. As there is a small kitchen with a kettle, microwave and cutlery, some plates would be really useful.
- Mirko (10/5): Ein perfekter Aufenthalt. Sehr gerne wieder. - Die Unterkunft war perfekt. Pure Wohlgefühle nach einem langen Pilgertag. Sehr komfortabel eingerichtet.
- Cindy (10/5): Quiet cabin with new interior and great views - Lovely cabin in quiet setting with wonderful updated interior and superior bedding, towels and amenities provided.
- john (8/5): -
- Angela (10/5): A relaxing and peaceful surrounding connecting to the outdoor outdoors everything was fabulous!!! - The peacefulness and connecting to the outdoors There was nothing negative to say about this property. Everything was fabulous!!!
- Kyra (10/5): -
- Erica (10/5): Excellent and highly recommended! - Super kind and accommodating hosts, excellent food and service WiFi didn’t work but it was no one’s fault. Tech issues that were being fixed. Didn’t matter- we don’t need.
- Iker (9/5): -
- Duncan (10/5): -
- Dave (10/5): Beautiful quiet and peaceful - Beautiful quiet cabins. It’s about a 1K hike up a hill.
- James (10/5): Amazingly peaceful. Beautiful food. Very Zen. 🧘 -
- Karen (10/5): Nicest place we have stayed in Zubiri while walking the Camino de Santiago - It was a little off the Camino route but well worth the 10 or 15 minute walk. The host was super friendly and helpful. It was great to have our own kitchenette to be able to make drinks and snacks. The place was really clean, it was peaceful and the view was beautiful. Great star gazing through the big windows. The canopy was helpful to leave our wet and muddy stuff outside. The highlight was the amazing dinner that the host brought to our cabin the evening we arrived and the breakfast.

Nada
- Richard (10/5): Peaceful - Cabañas Agotzenea sits a bit outside Zubiri, which is exactly the point. Quiet, tranquil, and surrounded by a lush valley that makes you forget you are about to walk across Spain.
We had a private cabin with an outdoor deck looking straight down into the valley. The large shower window opened fully to the outside. Nobody could see you. It was that kind of private.
Dinner was brought to us that evening. Pumpkin soup, couscous with vegetables, flan, and wine. Simple, thoughtful, and exactly right for the setting.
Breakfast in the morning matched it. Bruschetta, granola with yogurt, jam on toast, fresh squeezed orange juice. We ate well and slowly.
Then they drove us back into town to start the Camino.
That is a very good way to begin.
- Charles (7/5): A bit mixed because of the various issues - Nice views, excellent dinner and breakfast, friendly staff We misunderstood accommodation description - the two twin beds are in fact in the same smallish space as the double bed so we ended up expensively taking another cabana. The price is very high by camino standards. Also it is quite a significant distance out of town.
- Joanes (10/5): -
- Kirsten (10/5): Smukke omgivelser , dejlig seng , smagfuld indretning , fantastisk 3 retters mad og morgenmad , fri kaffe i boligen Læ - Meget meget søde hjælpsomme imødekommende værter .
- Ken (9/5): Clean, comfortable, simple. Would stay again. - It was a lovely, quiet escape but a steep, uphill driveway after a long walk on the Camino was kind of funny. It was simple, quiet, clean and had a slight “off the grid” feel to it. Perfect if you are wanting a less social Camino moment.
- F (10/5): -
- KARMELE (8/5): - Las zonas del jardín no estaban cuidadas
- Muriel (10/5): -
- Glenn (9/5): -
- Fiona (10/5): An oasis of peace & tranquility with fabulous hosts and food. - The hosts were so hospitable and helpful. Picked us up from the town of Zubiri snd took is the 10mins in a car to the cabanas. They were so friendly, interesting and interested. We loved the wood houses, so so comfortable and cosy. Great beds, pillows and facilities to make hot drinks. An oasis of peace and tranquillity. The dinner was so wholesome and delicious and breakfast exceptional. Not applicable
- andrew (10/5): -
- IRIS HARIDIAN (10/5): -
- Michelle (10/5): A wonderful experience - Everything!
I loved that the cabins were a little out of town and so quiet. The hostess collected us from town.
The view was amazing. Accommodation was clean and extremely comfortable with lovely coffee and teas.
Dinner and breakfast were vegan and delicious. Nothing
- Cherie (10/5): - Super nice place! While a bit further away from Camino trail it was worth it! They offered to pick us up from town at no charge (above/beyond). Also adjusted last minute to arrange dinner to the room (which was delicious). Wish we had more time there. Loved it all!
- Siobhan (10/5): An amazing different experience on the Camino - A unique experience in a lovely environment in the mountains and forest. The food was particularly nice as was the staff who collected ted us from Zubiri and dropped back to the Camino Trail Othing
- Craig (9/5): Very comfortable - Very good breakfast Location was a bit out of town
- Jürgen (10/5): Sehr schöne Unterkunft in toller Lage!
- Claudina (10/5): Outstanding and in my mind forever. Just what I needed. Buen Camino - The view, accommodations and the host. The dinner and breakfast was the best I have had since my journey began. It was a bit more $ than most but, my choice.
- Carolina (10/5): - Quiet and serene sustainable cabin in mountains. Amazing hospitality, even catered for a gluten free diet. The tomatoes from the garden are the best I ever ate! Highly recommend!
- Sarah (10/5): -
- Fink (8/5): -
- Adelina (10/5): The staff was great, the view was beautiful and the food was delicious! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. - The property is a short drive from the center of Zubiri. It is a quiet and peaceful location overlooking the mountains around the town. It was the perfect place to celebrate our 31st wedding anniversary. The boiler was hit and miss so we ended up taking cold showers, but it wasn’t that big of a deal after having hiked for six hours on the Camino.
- Kieran (5/5): Lovely cabin but do not use if you want air conditioning - The cabin was really nice situated 15 minute walk from Zubiri
Beautiful setting and extremely quiet.
Staff were really nice, we received a pick up and drop off to Zubiri. Extremely nice staff
Breakfast served with good options brought to the cabin. Cabin did not have air conditioning. It was too hot. We could not sleep.
No screens for window to prevent bugs so could not leave window open
Most expensive place we stayed on camino.
- Charil (9/5): Superb -
- James (9/5): Superb - Style and cleanliness None
- Bolton (10/5): Beautiful location & exceptional hosts - The host messaged us to ask whether we wanted a lift from the village (otherwise a 1km walk). After walking for 21km on the Camino it was SO welcome. They arranged a pick up point & collected us 15 minutes later. They also dropped us back the following morning to continue our walk. The hosts were exceptional & the property beautiful.
The food was home made (all vegan) & brought to the cabin. The only thing I would say to make the experience even better than it was, was to include black tea (for those from the UK) & some milk. BUT… these are tiny points as it was a wonderful stay.
- Rob (8/5): Very good -
- Laurie (10/5): Excellent service provided by the hosts. They accommodated all our requests and were very gracious and welcoming. - Stunning and serene location. Lovely eco-design room.
- Jonathan (10/5): The perfect place to rest after a long walk on the French Camiño. - Quiet, stunning location only a short walk from Zubiri centre. Had everything we needed and included a delicious breakfast package.
- Suzanne (10/5): Beautiful, modern, sustainably-built cabin in the mountains - Beautiful, modern and sustainably-built cabin just outside of Zubiri with a view of the mountains was exceptional. Hosts took care of everything and even gave us a ride into town the next morning for the Camino. Nothing
- Emily (9/5): Amazing views, amazing host, luxurious accommodation just off the Camino - What a luxurious, modern cabin! We loved our stay here on the Camino. The staff were so amazing and picked us up from Zubiri (just text the host and they will organise this!). We also could have our bags dropped there via Jacotrans which was super easy! We had a fully flushing toilet (different to photos of the bark) and the room was very comfortable. Breakfast was amazing as well. There is no WiFi but we had good 5G reception. We would definitely recommend staying here!
- Linda (10/5): It was awesome! - Excellent breakfast!
- Jeanne (7/5): Value for money questionable, but beautiful location - The whole style of the cabin and decor of room and bathroom. Lovely terrace and exceptional views. There was coffee and tea. We liked the fact the food was served to us in the room. The towels and bed linen were lovely quality. The wine served with dinner was very good. Pleased to be picked up from village centre and dropped back. The host was absent when we needed assistance. Given her local knowledge it would have been kind had she helped us with booking our onward luggage transport as it took us over an hour to sort with no real support. We had to buy additional 4G to complete the transaction.
Lack of WiFi was an issue and there was very poor 4G. We were given a poor excuse for this.
We ordered dinner for 20€ each. Disappointing to find out on arrival it was all vegan and the meal served was not to our taste. The soup was good and the breakfast was good.
The dining table was so wobbly it was tricky to eat from.
It would have been good to have had more comfortable outdoor furniture and we shouldn’t have had to ask for a third chair.
Kettle was temperamental - not intuitive and the host knew that.
- Scott (10/5): Exceptional - Where to start... This place blew away our expectations. Very clean and comfortable. Absolutely silent at night, away from the noise in town. We got the dinner that was offered, it was fabulous. The included breakfast equaled the dinner, both brought right to the cabin. Plenty of hot water for the shower, a welcome amenity after a long day hiking the Camino. ( The hosts will pick you up and drop you off at the trail). We are so pleased we stayed here.
Now, for the environmental aspect of the hotel. I am no climate change warrior but I do love our planet, and I love what the wonderful people at Agotzenea are doing. The food is totally organic, the facilities have the smallest footprint possible, and all of that is barely noticeable. I highly recommend and encourage anyone that plans to stay in Zubiri to consider they do so at Agotzenea! My total lack of ability to speak a modicum of Spanish.
Thank you Google translate!
- Bernie (9/5): Fabulous location and breakfast - Amazing location, we spent several hours admiring the views and listening to the birds singing and the crickets chirping. Breakfast was fabulous and very filling for hungry hikers We were not aware that there was only one bedroom in each cabana.
- O (5/5): Passable - The cabins were spacious and bright and the bed was comfortable. Staff were friendly. The bathroom door was broken and couldn't be opened from the inside and should've been fixed when we notified staff. However tha food offering was the biggest disappointment. It was brought to the cabin uncovered and lukewarm and main course was so poor it was inedible. Very poor value for money.
- Maryann (10/5): Great location.Great food and great food!! Loved it!!! - Awesome staff. They picked us up and took us to the stunning cabin with a beautiful view!
- Brian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ken (8/5): We stayed there in a pinch but enjoyed our time - The property is isolated about 1.5 km from Zubiri. After a long grueling day on the Camino de Santiago that was a negative BUT the property sent a driver to collect us in town and return us as well. The place is built of sustainable materials and is a good steward of its land. And was modern, clean and comfortable to boot Dinner and breakfast were very simple and delivered to the cabin so we met no others there
- Marlon (7/5): Good -
- Stephen (8/5): A beautiful place and the owners might be geniuses - Beautiful place. Very interesting concept. Very helpful staff who even picked me up when they knew I was walking and also did everything they could to provide dinner. A small thing, but the heating boiler (or pump) is quite noisy and comes on intermittently through the night.
- Richard (10/5): Beautiful place a short distance from town. Excellent staff - Amazing accommodations in an incredible setting
- Mark (3/5): Overpriced and under delivered. - The View Only cold water was available in the morning .
Dinner was appalling, poor quality, served tepid, tiny portions & overpriced.
- Carol (10/5): Exceptional -
- Barbara (9/5): Superb - We did not realize that this property was very environmentally friendly. It was not in a location to get food etc easily.
- Helen (8/5): Peaceful & clean but a little overpriced for the facilities, feel this place is still evolving. - Friendly welcome. Stunning location just outside the town. Great views from large window. Fabulous modern design with kindness to the environment in mind (including the sawdust loo 😬)
I wish them well for the future. Shower had a window with no screen or blind, not overlooked, but this was uncomfortable. A small fridge would have been good.
- Timothy (4/5): Disappointing - Beautiful rural property set on a few hectares of woodland..Modern eco friendly design. The breakfast was excellent : yoghourt with nuts, a light bagel with cream cheese and tomatoes, a brownie, orange juice. The cabana was completely inappropriate for 3 pelegrinos. A young couple with child or children, fine. For 3 old guys, no. I'd asked for a place with 3 rooms for 3 adults. It was never going to work, and it was expensive.
- Anthony (7/5): Good -
- Douglas (5/5): Adequate sums it up. - The host was friendly and gave us a beer while he finished cleaning the cabin and drove us into town at 5:00 when he left work. The box breakfast delivered at 7:00 was nice. This is a somewhat unique isolated eco built conference center about a mile solitary walk out of town on a highway. There's no wifi and the toilet uses sawdust which is a bit strange but overall it was very clean. It was pricey compared to other apartments on the Camino and while it was billed as a one bedroom apartment it was basically a freestanding hotel room with a balcony.
- Jennifer (7/5): Staying here was a calming experience, they built using recyclable materials, very ecofriendly. - Cabanas Agotzenea is about 1 km outside of Zubiri. The property is lovely, the cabanas are nice and clean with amazing views. The beds are hard, memory foam like, the bathroom has a compost toilet that has a bucket of wood chips and the odor does come out into the bedroom unless the door is closed, the shower is decent and clean. The room has utensils, we ordered dinner and breakfast all of which are vegan but delicious. We also purchased beer from the host for dinner which was brought to us. See above
- Sharlene (9/5): Superb - Lovely property . Good breakfast. Great views Price
- Imran (8/5): Off grid cottage with beautiful views - Lovely panoramic view of the valley through floor to ceiling glass wall. Comfortable bed. Newly built cottage. 1.5 km from the Camino. Off grid toilet. Expensive dinner. No wifi.
- Nick (10/5): Excellent - Fantastic eco property. Fantastic host would highly recommend it
- Jun (8/5): Very good -
- Lena (4/5): Disappointing. - Nice view of the mountains. No staff on site. No AC and no fans or screens on the windows. Dinner was overpriced. Multiple spiders!
