- Figg (10/5): - Beautiful cottages. Extremely comfortable and clean. Contained everything needed for a luxury weekend. Thankyou
- Paul (10/5): Excellent three night break in a very luxurious cottage - A lovely and well presented luxury cottage with exceptional space in the bedrooms, en suites and the lounge/dining area. Good outdoor areas for relaxing and dining which was partially covered with a patio heater.
Under floor heating was excellent and ease of parking was a bonus.
The welcome pack well exceeded our expectations as well as the use two coffee machines was a real treat. Everything was good and there was nothing we didn't like.
- Sarah (10/5): Cosy, luxury, great weather, lovely beach and cafes -

- Kevin (10/5): A fabulous weekend at a very special place - The cottage was exceptional. Roomy, warm. We had a cot and High chair as requested. The cottage was well equipped and the treats on arrival were very well received! Wine, chocolates and snacks. The location was perfect for our weekend and the fabulous weather topped it off. We all had a really lovely time. We self catered and the only thing, if we are being really picky, is that there weren’t serving bowls to put cooked vegetables into so we could help ourselves at the dining table. We managed absolutely fine though!
- Alison (10/5): Stunningly stylish and in a perfect location - Luxury feel but so cosy and comfortable. Perfect design vibe - scandi meets Cape Cod and only a short walk to one of the most beautiful parts of the East Coast Absolutely nothing!

- Wendy (9/5): A lovely few days stay in a beautiful cottage in a great location - Very comfy , lots of space and well- equipped. There wasn’t anything we didn’t like but the things I would say to improve it would be:
Some lamps in lounge rather than just the overhead light
Some serving dishes
We struggled with the coffee maker even after reading instructions , so maybe some simple ‘idiots guide’ to using!
There was a bulb needing replacing in en suite bathroom
Instructions for TVs and oven/ microwave would have been useful
Some kitchen roll and more loo rolls would be useful
- Marie (10/5): Gorgeous cottage in a secluded location a few minutes walk from Sandsend beach. We had a lovely time and wouldn’t hesita - Property is beautiful, well situated , quiet and very clean. The host was extremely helpful and we were really surprised by the welcome hamper of lovely goodies! We loved everything about the property

- Caroline (10/5): Exceptional -
- Caitrian (10/5): East Hampton cottage. - Stunning accommodation in a stunning location. Stayed in East Hampton cottage for 3 nights with friends. Lovely welcome pack. Communication with the owners was excellent. 3 beautiful bedrooms, all with en suites. Great indoor and outdoor living space, Easy walks in to Sandsend and along the coast to Whitby. Hart Inn in the village served the best value lobster we've had! There was only one very minor issue - plenty of glasses for wine and beer but not enough suitable for gin & and tonics!
- Laura (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emma (9/5): Superb -
- Karen (10/5): Great! - Everything! Highly recommend. Great place, lovely location, lots of lovely little touches that make it special.

- Conor (10/5): Exceptional - Incredible property clean and tidy would recommend this to anyone going to the sand send area we will definitely be going again in future
- Rob (9/5): Excellent - nothing stops us having a good time and the cottage was better than any previous year. - We’ve stayed in most of the cottages at Raithwaite over the last 10 years. We have stayed in East Hampton cottage before and the refurbishment and decoration in the cottage has improved a lot with the present owners. Its location relative to the beach is excellent and in October the cottage is always warm and snug. A couple of issues on arrival were fixed very quickly and the owners were very friendly and helpful. The Raithwaite/Saltmoore hotel was undergoing major refurbishment and at entry to the complex and number of new properties are being built. The builders were very friendly, polite and quiet. However, they were along way behind schedule with the opening, so lots of deliveries, mess and trades trying to recover the timing. Getting to the cottage needed a little patience some days.
The beds and sofas were uncomfortable and my back wouldn’t have coped with staying longer. The cottage was hot in some rooms and cold in others. We balanced it up and found where new controls were for towel rails etc. The TV’s have always been an issue every year and there must be aerial issues with the cottage sitting in a valley. The new TV set up is a big improvement, but a bit clunky to use and kids leave interesting log-ons on the screens.
- Alex (10/5): This place is amazing and we cannot wait to book our next trip. The hosts were incredible and very thoughtful and it’s j - We had 2 cottages as they were absolutely stunning. Very similar in design but worked amazing for our group as the bedrooms on the ground floor helped so much. Nothing - it was excellent
- Susan (9/5): We all enjoyed a super break! -
- Neil (10/5): Exceptional -
- George (10/5): Relaxing - Location and exceptional accommodation
- Deanie (10/5): Perfect relaxing break - Perfect in every way Building work on site we were not aware of but didn’t spoil our stay
- Katie (10/5): Peaceful home from home stay! - Would rate 10 or more if I could.
Cottages were immaculate. Decor high standard. Absolutely beautiful. Compfy beds, great location.
Value for money. Communication with host was fantastic. Nice bottle of welcome wine in the fridge was a lovely touch. Home from home in a beautiful location will be back again for sure!! Nothing. Loved it all.
- Rupinder (9/5): Great Place in a good location and a very comfortable stay - It was lovely, rooms were clean and modern with a tv in every room. Kitchen had all the mod cons, and the living room was very spacious.
Also, the grounds were great for wonder too. The kids loved it too, didn't want leave, and we will definitely come back should Whitby be our destination next summer!
Hopefully, the hubby and I can come back to the cottage, when the spa is open for our anniversary in November. The building works weren't great, but not noisy at all, and didn't affect our stay...would have been nice to visit the gardens. However the lake walk was lovely!
- Lydia (10/5): Perfect seaside escaoe - we'll be back! - Fabulous location, tucked away behind the main ex Raithwaite Hall (soon to be Saltmoore). Despite the ongoing construction works at the main hotel, it didn't cause any problems and the property was quiet. Stunning corner cottage, tonnes of room, tastefully furnished with every conceivable item you might need. Plenty of outdoor seating. Immaculately clean...just perfect in every way! We drove to the beach every day but it is walkable for fit people. The bed in the downstairs bedroom was a little creaky and uncomfortable.
- Lorna (10/5): Excellent find - Gorgeous place, spacious rooms, comfortable bed and pillows, great shower, huge kitchen space with all the utensils you need, lovely food bag to top it off. walking distance to sansend and the bus stop is at the bottom of the road to whitby, excellent find
- Spencer (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robert (10/5): Great stay homely and a definite place to return to - This is a top end holiday let Nothing
- Banks (10/5): Beautiful modern cottage in a super location - Discovery Cottage has everything you need and its up-to-the-minute decor and furnishings immediately wows you.
Superb big open plan kitchen and lounge.
Great lighting and sparklingly clean. Comfortable beds and big sofas, with twin bed option.
3 en suite modern bathrooms with showers/2 baths and separate ground floor WC.
Huge TVs in all 3 bedrooms and lounge. Sound system.
Very well equipped, especially in the kitchen.
All mod cons.
Tranquil setting and lovely outlook, overlooking woodland.
Newly decked private rear terrace great for dining and relaxing.
Easy walk to Sandsend amenities and beach. Also to Whitby.
Plentiful private parking.
Frequent local bus service too.
Definitely one of the best cottages we've stayed in. Nothing at all
- Hmc1 (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nigel (10/5): Unfortunately, we only had an overnight stay. We all said we would love to have stayed longer but school for the grandch - Lovely quite location off the beaten track yet within easy access by car in to Sandsend and Whitby. Also footpath into Sandsend. This however, is not for the faint hearted involving climbing over stiles, farm gates and fields with cattle in. Steep footpath down into Sandsend and of course back again! There was nothing at all to dislike!
- Mark (10/5): A fabulous 3 night stay, highly recommended and will definitely be staying again. - Beautifully furnished to a high quality with fabulously comfy beds, great open plan kitchen/living area and private outside space.
The cottage has everything you need and feels like a home away from home.
Only a short walk to Sandsend beach and some lovely walks on the doorstep.
- David (10/5): Great place to stay, beating our expectations. Won’t hesitate to rebook in the summer when we’re back in the area. - The property was immaculately laid out. WiFi was excellent using really new Starlink technology which I’ve never seen before and Apple TV in all rooms which was a great modern touch. Great access to Sandsend and the lovely places to go. The connected Hotel was closed but appears to be undergoing a large refurbishment which we’ll look to see next time we stay.
- Maddy (10/5): Discovery house - This was an amazing little get away cottage in a fantastic location easy to get too. We would have loved to have been able to explore it more. We walked in and straightaway it had a homely feel. It was very clean and well laid out. The kitchen was well stocked and had basically everything you could need. The beds were so comfy, and we all had an amazing sleep. We were very sad to leave on the Sunday morning and wish we could have stayed there longer. Would definitely go back again. As previously made aware of the patio was unfortunately out of bounds for that weekend due to it being redone and wasn't quite finished. However, we are looking forward to going back and seeing it once it's all complete.
