Guest Reviews
- Kelvin (9/5): We would love to come back again! - Lovely quiet location. Two minutes from town and very good for visiting attractions. My wife missed having a full length mirror
Bath was quite high and a bit tricky to get into for the over head shower.
- Stella (9/5): Lovely location - complete with wildlife - Lovely location with deer, rabbits, hares and pheasants just outside. Quiet at night and well equipped. The front curtains were not properly hung and came off the rail so we felt a bit exposed especially when the laundry man arrived at 7.25am and we were in our nightwear! The bathroom is beautiful but be aware that the bath is quite high and we two arthritic ladies found it very difficult to get in and out.
- Sarah (9/5): Lovely cottage and excellent base for seeing the sights of Northumberland - Fantastic location and very comfortable My elderly Dad struggled a bit not having his usual terrestrial TV in the evenings, but we got around it with BBC iplayer.
- Richard (9/5): Very nice cottage - Freshly decorated; well equipped; close to town yet in the countryside Not much storage space
- Anthony (9/5): - Quiet, peaceful, well appointed. Immaculately clean with quality facilities.
There was nothing not to like, the only slight disadvantage for us, which isn't a criticism of the property or surroundings, was that the rear garden has open access to land. As we have 2 elderly, inquisitive springer spaniels the temptation to explore was too much at times particularly as there were pheasants and deer wandering about which was lovely to see. We didn't stay longer.
- Binks (10/5): Brilliant stay at sunny bank cottage. I would definitely stay again - The property is in a great location just a short walk into town and a good base for exploring other areas I didn’t like that the garden wasn’t as secure as it could be. I had to supervise them at all times.
- Charles (10/5): Beautifully maintained cottage with all you need for a relaxing break. - Lovely cottage in a great location (very quiet!) Nothing
- David (9/5): - Very quiet and wonderful wildlife around including visits from 3 deer.
Lovely
- robert (10/5): Great stay - Quiet location with great parking Nothing to dislike about the cottage.
- Beth (10/5): -
- Heather (9/5): Had a wonderful stay. The cottage was so cosy and comfortable. - Fabulous location - so close to Alnwick but felt like you were out in the countryside (nice and quiet). The cottage was beautiful, clean and comfortable. The host was great - answered all my queries and was very helpful. Not a lot - maybe an extra tea towel or some bubble bath but I'm nit picking.
- Beryl (9/5): Warm and cosy cottage ideal for a short stay in Northumberland - Bright, spotlessly clean and well appointed cottage on the outskirts of Alnwick, with countryside views to the rear. A full length mirror somewhere would have been helpful
- Sophie (9/5): Wonderful cottage stay central to Alnwick - The property is in an excellent location, only 3 minutes from central Alnwick and Alnwick castle. It’s very quiet with an idyllic setting. I was hopeful to see the deer mentioned in other reviews and was very lucky to see a family of deer, a mother and 3 babies. Amanda was very responsive when we did have queries and this was very gratefully received. The cottage provided everything we needed for cooking meals, and enjoying early evenings in. A mirror outside the bathroom would be useful, but this is a very minor point.
- Catherine (10/5): 100% would recommend! - Absolutely loved everything about Sunnybank cottage - the check in process was super easy, Amanda (the host) was very responsive to queries (no issues just wanted to confirm if we could use the picnic hamper/blanket which was a yes!) and the place was perfect for us - we needed somewhere else with parking and the cottage was the perfect t spot with its secluded nature, however close enough to walk into town. Everything was spotless and we even had 4 deers visit us in the garden for the last night! Absolutely stunning cottage and would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone! The only thing to note is the walk back up the hill from town could be steep for some so bare in mind, but this did not in anyway detract from the stay for us (we're a couple in our 30s of relatively good fitness).
- Clare (10/5): Perfect Northumberland stay - Wonderful private and peaceful location, fabulous for visiting with a dog.
Very comfortable accommodation, lovely attention to detail.
So clean and everything there that we needed.
Easy to get to places we wanted to visit.
Blessed with visits from the local deer.
Just perfect. Nothing. Would definitely stay again.
- Lee (10/5): - Very quiet relaxing place, clean, spacious, comfortable beds, would definitely stay here again. Would have liked a mirror in the bedroom, everything else was perfect 👌
- Billy (6/5): tidy, pleasant house - Quiet location on edge of town. Beautifully presented on arrival. Lovely countryside around house but easy to get into town by foot or car. comfort of bed/mattress not to my personal preference. House has a few outstanding repairs but did not hamper our stay
- Sally (10/5): Great base for Alnwick and surrounding areas - Great place to stay, just up the hill from Alnwick towards the golf course, so you feel quite secluded.
Very comfortable and clean cottage, a real home from home. Amanda was very responsive to a minor issue we encountered and got it sorted straight away. A short walk along the road takes you down to the forest area which was lovely for our morning run. Everyone so friendly in town, a real pleasure to stay here. Nothing
- Geoffrey (9/5): Superb - Loved the quiet location no more than 25 minutes from the centre of Alnwick (Recommend a visit to Alnwick Castle & The Alnwick Gardens and Cragside in the opposite direction).
The property is very clean, comfortable, well presented and maintained but we would have preferred a few more kitchen utensils so we didn't use the dishwasher so much (but it has a useful dishwasher !).
The occasional deer wandering about the garden and up the road was a novelty and the number of birds we identified was impressive.
For two people, it was a lovely stay and I would go again + would recommend it for another couple. Someone else can review the four person occupancy. There were a couple of maintenance issues identified with the owners which are being addressed.
- David (9/5): Great! - Lovely cottage, perfect location. Quiet road but so close to town! Deer and pheasants visiting in the garden! No mirror anywhere except in the bathroom. Lucky we took an extension and had to use the hair dryer in there so not ideal, as you shouldn't really use electrical items in a bathroom.
It was great having the garden especially as we had our little dog with us but hadn't realised that up the hill there was no fencing. He would have followed the deer and been off if he had seen it!
Despite this we loved it as other thigs were so lovely.
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional - The property was clean, modern and included a lovely secluded garden. Also within close proximity to the Town centre.
- Kirsty (9/5): Superb - Lovely house, perfect for our visit to Alnwick. Great communication and we would definitely return if we were in the area again.
- Stacey (9/5): Perfect! Couldn’t have asked for a better stay. - The property was lovely and cosy, in an ideal location for accessing Alnwick, there was nothing we didn’t like about the property, its gardens or our stay. I would highly recommend and would definitely stay again if we are up that way. The host was super helpful and recommended a fantastic Indian restaurant down the hill which we all enjoyed and it was genuinely a really lovely stay. Not applicable
- Hilary (9/5): Comfortable and brilliant base for exploring Northumberland - Very comfortable cottage with a fully functioning kitchen which was warm and cosy when cold outside! The only thing we would have liked was some cushions to put on the chairs outside. We would have sat outside in the lovely garden had they been available in the cottage.
- Robin (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent facilities, beautiful location
- Martin (10/5): Lovely hidden gem - Excellent location close to town but far enough tucked away in the country. Lots of space and everything we needed was provided. Also dog friendly.
- Penny (9/5): Very enjoyable, peaceful and relaxing. Very comfortable and clean The dog loved it too. - Everything Would recommend a little welcome file in writing with where the Smart meter is ,how to operate it , keep all the instruction manuals for the hob, oven etc. in it .
Give nearest Doctors Surgery Number. Nearest Chemist No.
Would recommend bath mat for getting out of bath/shower area. Shower/bath mat for when in bath or shower.
- Yvonne (10/5): A great find and would recommend. - A beautiful little cottage with everything we needed for a short break. An open garden with deer visiting in the evening. Amazing hot water and heating when we needed it. Owner very responsive and helpful when we asked a question. Would definitely stay again. Nothing.
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mike (9/5): Superb - Very comfortable, convenient and an ideal location.
- Lystra (10/5): Warm, cozy family friendly stay in Alnwick. - The property is in a very good location and the cottage is so cozy, warm and welcoming. It is decorated to a very high standard and clearly much thought was given to every detail needed for a comfortable stay. The free parking onsite was a nice bonus and the garden was wonderful for our dog. I would stay again without hesitation and I highly recommend this place. We loved everything but just more as an FYI, the bathtub with overhead shower is a bit high and might be a bit tricky getting in and out for anyone with mobility issues.
- Linda (10/5): Most enjoyable - Liked everything
Lovely little cottage in a beautiful place
- Kj (10/5): Very comfortable, clean and good facilities. - Very comfortable and clean. We were group of 4 adults and it was spacious for us all. Close to amenities and quiet location. Nothing to fault
- Andrew (10/5): Excellent property in a great location - Great location: close enough to Alnwick to be near all shops and restaurants, but far enough away to be quiet. Very well presented. Spotlessly clean. Very good garden. The only downside was limited clothes hanging space, but if you are only going for a few days this shouldn't be an issue.
- Nicola (10/5): Perfect! - Beautifully clean, fabulous location, cosy and warm.
- Kathryn (10/5): A beautiful cottage in a lovely quiet location, but only a few minutes drive into Alnwick. - The cottage was very well appointed with everything we needed for a 5 day break. It was light and airy with lots of windows with lovely views of the gardens. The heating system was easy to use and meant we were cosy in the evenings. The beds were comfortable and there was a great rainforest shower over the bath. The location was perfect with only a few minutes drive into Alnwick, but we felt like we were in the middle of the countryside. It was very quiet and peaceful. The cottage could do with a bit more cutlery and crockery as it had a dishwasher and we didn’t want to use it unless it was fully loaded.
- Steph (10/5): Perfect little cottage - Everything we needed was there, place was spotlessly clean, quiet and comfortable
- Mark (8/5): Very good -
- Oliver (10/5): A quiet retreat in pretty Alnwick - Don't go anywhere else if you are looking for a cosy cottage in Alnwick. It's within walking distance (at least downhill - coming back up the hill, you may need a taxi!).
The cottage was spotlessly clean and very cute. The back doors open wide, which is lovely and fresh (I had asked for a fan but in all honesty, you don't need one). There was no reed diffusers or chemical smells, which can be a big problem. Sitting outside in the sun eating my lunch was so peaceful.
The welcome pack was lovely and thoughtful.
The host has impeccable taste. The art work around the cottage is to my taste, as is the decor style. she dots tasteful colour around and I loved her collection of books, tiddlywinks and bird bingo!
The bedding was lovely and fresh.
A deer visited us on the first night which was a lovely suprise!
The bathroom is gorgous.
I found the host polite, responsive, helpful and welcoming. Nothing
- Sagal (10/5): Exceptional - Sunnybank cottage is beautiful, and situated in a lovely and peaceful area. We had a lovely weekend there. We were visited by a family of deer and made good use of the kitchen. Amanda couldn’t have been kinder and left us a hamper full of treats and proseco, which was a lovely touch.
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional - Clean property. Lovely decor, lovely bath and shower. Area was nice and quiet. Picnic basket with prosecco in was nice.
Property was well maintained and the garden area was nice. We liked the patio doors that opened up onto the garden. Contact with host was good.exceptional property we had a lovely stay and planning on going again. Thank you The only improvement would be a mirror in bedrooms as there was only one in the bathroom and this was not near a socket. Also only hanging space for clothes in one room.
- Sabine (10/5): Brilliant stay at Sunnybank Cottage - This is a real gem. It's a lovely spacious cottage with 2 double beds. It has a lovely charm, nice outside seating, great kitchen, very comfortable living room area.
The location could not be better to explore the Northumberland coast line. Nothing. It's perfect
- Katie (10/5): I’d definitely recommend this property - This cottage was situated very close to town and in an ideal location. There is a supermarket within walking distance which was also helpful. We enjoyed the outdoor seating area in the rear of the property in the evenings. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking meals in. Amanda was an amazing host and ensured that everything was ok in the property. I’d definitely stay here again The mugs in the kitchen could have been bigger. It would also have be useful to have an additional mirror which was not in the bathroom.
- Zakiya (9/5): Superb -
- Janice (10/5): A lovely space to use as a base to travel and see some amazing places. - It was secluded but quite near to the towns amenities . Although we didn't walk into Alnwick it is possible to do so. Everything we needed was provided, and everything was of a very high standard. Nice welcome pack of fizz and cookies which we enjoyed. A mirror in the bedroom would have been nice but that was just a minor detail and we would definitely book again .
- John (10/5): Secluded but accessible position to nearby town - Warm and comfortable.Well designed and in good location being secluded but only a short walk to the town Nothing worth mentioning
- Erica (10/5): Exceptional - The bungalow has been tastefully renovated and every detail has been considered. The property was spacious and the beds were comfortable. There was a lot of other space for sitting out in peaceful surroundings and we even had a visit from a roe deer one evening. We would definitely make a return visit one day.
- Andrine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Victoria (9/5): Superb - Lovely quiet location on the outskirts of Alnwick, but easy walking distance into the town. Well equipped cottage with lots of outdoor space. No large mugs for a decent brew. Both beds have footends which is problematic if you are over 6 foot.
- Andrea (10/5): Great retreat with plenty to do on your doorstep - Location was ideal for a walk into Alnwick yet still very rural and quite close to amenities .Plenty to see in Alnwick and most other places were easily accessible.local supermarket close by and an M&S food hall. Early morning visit to the garden by a deer was a bonus 😊 A mirror in the bedrooms! Spoke to the host who said they would deal with it, didn’t spoil our stay though , also maybe a colander in the kitchen for draining food. Otherwise equipment was ideal and all worked perfectly
- Julie (9/5): Sunnybank Cottage, beautiful accomodation in lovely surroundings - Lovely cottage with all home comforts. Spotlessly clean and absolutely beautiful. Amanda was easily contactable for a little issue on arrival (telly for FA cup final!) No problem Clive arrived in 5 minutes! Hubby happy! We've had a really relaxed week in a beautiful place. Everything was great and walk into Alnwick down the hill wasn't a problem for us. The walk back up might be a problem for some!
Gardens are lovely but the back is not enclosed and leads onto woodland. We knew this before booking so not a problem with out little dog. Watched the deer on woodland that visited most evenings.
- Caroline (9/5): Beautifully appointed cottage in a quiet location within walking distance of Alnwick . - Lovely cottage with garden surrounding all sides so always a sunny spot to sit. The cottage inside is beautifully furnished with everything needed, a well equipped kitchen and 2 double bedrooms with lovely linen and towels. The position was great for the town of Alnwick, about 10 mins walk down a hill and there was easy onsite parking. The cottage was very peaceful with no noise.
The owners were excellent in communicating and a minor problem with the hot water was fixed within an hour . We particularly appreciated the complimentary Prosecco and biscuits left for us, thank you. The excellent shower is over the bath which has rather high sides if you have limited mobility , we didn't have a problem with it though.
- Anne (10/5): Excellent - The cottage was lovely and clean, nicely decorated, spacious and well equipped. It was ideally situated just a short walk into the centre of Alnwick but really quiet and in the countryside. I thought the Prosecco and biscuits left for us were a lovely touch. Amanda the owner was very helpful.
- Peter (10/5): Great little cottage - Property is of a very high standard and very well equipped. Great outdoor space, with wildlife on your doorstep. Within walking distance of Alnwick and countryside walks. Would recommend.
- Gareth (10/5): Bel endroit . - Fantastic is the word that comes to mind when thinking of Sunnybank cottage ,beautiful location, spacious interior, well equipped , but for me and my children, it was the homely feeling, we were able to relax and enjoy our time. Hahaha, walking back up the hill from the town 🤣
- Kerry (10/5): Fabulous stay, we will be back! - Beautiful cottage, well equipped and such a peaceful location.
True reflection on making a decision on a holiday home is how well the owners look after you. We did have an issue but it was so well handled by the owners. They couldn't do enough to sort and went out of their way.
We will be booking back with them
- Victoria (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, very pleasant surroundings, good facilities, quiet location , would definitely visit again. There wasn't anything to dislike.
- Stacey (10/5): We had a great 2 night stay at sunnybank cottage. it was an immaculate cottage in a lovely setting, - We had a great 2 night stay at sunnybank cottage. it was an immaculate cottage in a lovely setting, with everything you need and very comfortable. The host was easy to communicate with and very informative. We would highly recommend and would definitely return.
