- Igor V.T. (10/5): - If you like tropical plants, village life, and aren't afraid of insects, you will be satisfied.
You will have a place representing a small village yard with a hut, summer kitchen, shower, and toilet. It's located in a small village (Yangudi or Jangudi) in the foothills of a volcano at an altitude of ~0.5 km, so the temperature and humidity are lower compared to the downstream area. The air is fresher, and the wind is stronger.
There is Les village nearby with a daily morning market and a huge shower, which is actually a real jungle waterfall. The ocean coastline is approximately 4 km away. The road has a steep gradient over the last 1.5 km, with an elevation gain of 0.4 km, so you'll get good physical exercise—unless you prefer a bike or taxi. The coastline is essentially a wild beach with volcanic sand, pebbles, and rocks covered with something rough like small coral. So take coral shoes or fins. However, I found a spot where I could enter the water barefoot: -8.133365, 115.377166
The jungle, including fruit trees, rages all around. A huge number of birds sing from sunrise to sunset, accompanied by crowing, mooing, grunting, and ritual singing surrounding the place.
The food ranges from local exotic tropical fruits, herbs, roots, and plants to ordinary vegetables, meat, fish, seafood, and more. You won’t be allowed to die of starvation. There’s also wild local honey right in the yard, and lemongrass. You can buy food and cook on the cooker, or ask the locals to share their ready-made meals with you. Everything is local, natural, and fresh. That I don't have a driver's license for bike
- Flora (10/5): Lovely nature escape - I felt very warmly welcomed by Mia and her family and so well taken care of.
I loved the garden, sitting on the grass under the moonlight and the view of the ocean and surrounding jungle.
I was a bit sick while I stayed there and they made me lemongrass tea and jamu fresh from the garden.
I was also so happy about the breakfast every day.
I feel like they enjoy hosting and do it because it brings them joy, so it was very pleasant to stay there and I would definitely go back and recommend it to my friends.
Everything was clean, functioning and the bed was comfortable. I also liked that there were different lights in the room and outside so I could have dim lights before sleeping. Just be aware that there is no WiFi and no hot water. I didn't miss either of these though.
