Guest Reviews
- Tim (10/5): Incredible, traditional Ryokan stay. The hosts are extremely kind and the food was out of this world. Would thorghly rec - Hisano and Koji are the best hosts. They made us feel very welcome and were extremely helpful. The Ryokan is superbly located to explore the area. Breakfast and dinner were stand out. It was the best food we have had during our two week stay in Japan. Nothing. All 10/10.
- Michael (10/5): A lovely traditional ryokan in a beautiful location with amazing hosts. - This inn is in a gorgeous location and right on the Mt. Ontake trail. The provided breakfast and dinner were superb, both taste and presentation. But the biggest positives were Koji and Hisano Kurumisawa. They were the most gracious, hospitable hosts who gave my daughter and I great advice about hiking the trail and also on where to visit in Kiso-Fukushima.

- Johanna (9/5): - Great hommade food, both breakfast and dinner. Manny small dishes and quite generous portions.
Verry good service and big rooms. All traditional.
- Morten (10/5): Godt. - Meget originalt, virkeligt søse og hjælpesomme værter. Stedet er en gammeldaga kro, så på nogle punkter lever stedet ikke op til normal hotelstandard, men det ee helt naturligt.
- Lauren (10/5): Unexpected Gem - We stopped here for a quick night on our way to Hakone and were greeted with lovely hospitality by the owners as soon as we arrived. They went above and beyond to accomodate my severe allergies and provided delicious traditional meals. We are so glad we stayed and will remember our experience here forever. Everything was wonderful.

- ran (10/5): - warm welcoming hospitality.
Great Dinner and breakfast
- Simon (8/5): an authentic ryokan. - This was an authentic ryokan experience. delightful owners, very interesting food served in the traditional way. The rooms were basic ryokan style. Great Onsen It was cold and the heating system was not working properly- a kerosene heater that gave off terrible fumes. We left because of this. Also the toilets were one floor below the rooms- not very convenient
- deb (10/5): Wonderful - Away from the main Nakasendo trail, fabulous family who have run this business for over 250 years - a traditional experience with superb food and a lovely bath area. Came and picked us up from the station - it’s a 20 minute drive but there are some buses. An amazing shrine opposite was completely empty and fabulous walks to enjoy.
This was a highlight of our trip. Definitely worth the extra day off the main trail to explore Mount Ontake area
Muligheder for dejlige vandreture.

- Jarno (10/5): Highly recommended!!! - Had one of our best stays during our holiday in this ryokan. The owner is so friendly and helpful. The room is spacious and in lovely Japanese style. The best part of the stay was the dinner and breakfast. Lots of little dishes, more than enough and very tasteful. Loved the idea of sleeping in one room and having dinner in the adjacent room! Nothing.
- Lydon (10/5): - The owners were so lovely and always there to help. The food was artisanal and amazing, made from local ingredients. Staying at an inn that has been serving people for 147 years was an off the beaten path experience.
- Toshiaki (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jessica (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ines (10/5): Wonderful - Everything, the room , the food, the bath, the owners
- Susan (9/5): Superb -
- Rachael (10/5): Excellent stay in a traditional ryokan, incredibly friendly hosts. - Hisano and her husband were excellent hosts - we felt very well looked after and they did everything possible to make us feel very welcome. The food was exceptional and Hisano took the time to explain to us the local and seasonal ingredients used. We also had a lovely day hiking some of the Ontake Kodo trail nearby, and enjoyed using the onsen afterwards. We could not recommend this ryokan more.
- Jacob (10/5): Exceptional - Food was exceptional. Hospitality from host was also exceptional
- Patrick (10/5): Fantastically friendly welcome, with wonderful food. -
- Danor (8/5): Very good - The Ryokan is at a great location for hiking and site seeing. Great hospitality, our hostess is a great cook and we enjoyed a local traditional dinner and breakfast. In addition she was very helpful and gave us tips for our trip.
- Michael (9/5): Superb - The owners are so lovely and help with any question or problem one could possibly have. It's in a very quiet area on the foot of mount ontake. The food is plenty and very good. It's a bit old and outdated. The walls are very thin.
