- Wendy (8/5): Gourmet meals and spectacular onsen & view of water - Onsen in the room with a view of the bay was spectacular. Delicious gourmet fine dining for dinner. The breakfast was absolutely memorable— one of the best meals of the entire 18 day vacation! Property was dated and could’ve used paint.
- Zi (10/5): Excellent. 10/10 - Beautiful rooms, great view, excellent hot spring tub. It is very isolated which is great for having a resort like experience but it is a little far from town. Really appreciated the pick up service from the train station.
- Tsung Man (9/5): 食物精緻 房間整潔 員工服務一流 - 員工細心服務好好 只有樓梯
雖然員工會幫手搬行李
但我唔好意思

- Arisa (9/5): Great for a restful stay if you’re planning to pamper yourself! - The kaiseki, the private Onsen, the view, and the room! Shuttle bus times are hard to coordinate and getting into town can be challenging
- Lam (10/5): -

- Susan (10/5): Wonderful in every way - Amazing in every way. Providing you are happy to be a little out of town. Free shuttle though. Plus you must love Japanese food and accept the wonderful set menu. Traditional. Be prepared to immerse yourself in real Japanese hospitality and excellence. It's quiet, restful, peaceful and beautiful. Not suitable for children. The luggage forward could not be paid for at the ryokan - this meant we had to rely on the hotel in kyoto to accept it - unpaid (we paid on arrival) - most will not do this. We were travelling to the other side of Japan first and if we'd had to take our cases this would have been a hassle. Luckily it was sorted but only because the next hotel were generous to do this. I was surprised as we always do luggage forward.

- Susan (10/5): A Paradise of relaxation, fine dining and hospitality. - We loved everything about this wonderful ryokan. The staff are amazing, the room was incredible with views of the sea. The dinner was one of the best Japanese meals I've eaten. You do need to enjoy traditional japanese food (you cannot adapt the menu) and be aware of customs. Free shuttle into town was appreciated. This is a paradise of relaxation. We wished we'd booked for longer. We will be back! Thank you Watei. Nothing.

- Bettina (10/5): Absolutely amazing stay - Very peaceful place, perfect for rest and relaxation away from touristy area. Staff service was exceptional! We felt treated like royalty
- 浩和 (5/5): -
- Erik (10/5): Breathtaking! - It’s a work of art. Everything is beautiful, down to the smallest detail. The hospitality was exceptional. It’s a steep climb to the hotel, so just be prepared to walk or take taxis if you’re traveling into town. They do offer a helpful shuttle bus when you arrive and depart.
- Erica (10/5): - 全てがよかったです!お食事も本当に美味しくて、ゆっくり出来ました!

- Kyrsti Tam (10/5): Highlight of our 2 weeks in Japan! - Room was very spacious and super comfortable. Had everything we needed from water/coffee/tea to toiletries and towels. The private onsen was absolutely the highlight though. Stay was SUPER peaceful and the area is very quiet. The meals were PHENOMENAL. They call you when it is time to come up for dinner/breakfast and are waiting to show you to your table. Tables are separated and private and overlooking a gorgeous view. You feel so pampered staying here. Highly recommend. No complaints at all, 10/10 experience.
- Linda (10/5): -
- c. (10/5): - Beautiful rooms, lovely private onsen. They even gave us traditional outfits to wear during meal times. Very good food.
- NAKANO (10/5): Every one must stay here once in their lives. - They are amazing facility and services. The Japanese room wear which is called Yukata is a bit difficult to wear but staff kindly support to wear correctly. Not only room and facility, the all service and welcome were amazing. Just amazing. Incredibly beautiful
- Kang (10/5): -
- Mark (10/5): - The onsen was amazing Nothing
- Weixi (10/5): - Unique Japan hot spring experience with superb Kaiseki Ryori. The hospitality and courtesy of the staff is unparalleled and world class.
- Theresa (10/5): Beautiful property with cosy, comfortable rooms with private onsen and sea views. Staff were so kind and most welcoming. - Pristine ryokan with beautiful sea views and private onsen. Nothing.
- Manning (10/5): -

- Samuel (10/5): A perfect experience in a traditional Japanese Ryokan with private Onsen. Exceptional customer service from start to fin - From the collection from the station to being dropped off to the station, the service was immaculate. The staff genuinely care and made us feel very welcome. The property is very well organised. We had dinner on the first night which was a great experience. Breakfast was also very good and it was nice to try traditional Japanese cuisine. The rooms were great and very spacious and the private onsen was perfect with a lovely view of Atami town and the bay. No issues with this property.
- Thomas (10/5): -
- Riccardo Longo (10/5): - The overall experience
staff smile and effort
transport from station Breakfast is super traditional. Who is not used to salty breakfast might find it hardcore
- Mark (10/5): An amazing experience my husband and I can’t wait to do again! - The staff was attentive and prompt. They ensured my husband and my every need and wish was met. The views are gorgeous which you enjoy from the time you check in, from your room, in the hot tub and during breakfast. This property is for relaxation and everything is built around ensuring you have an amazing experience. If I had to nitpick, I am over 6ft tall so like most things in Japan they are made for shorter people. I hit my head a few times. This is my fault as I should expect this and adapted by now.
- Nancy (10/5): Beautiful traditional inn - The beautiful setting, the private onsen, excellent staff
- Alexandros (10/5): - Excellent staff service, very polite and very helpful. Very clean. Beautiful room. Amazing food. Nothing.
- Joan (10/5): -
- Eva-Maria (9/5): Amazing and relaxing - The staff and the trafitional rituals for dinner and breakfast! also the private onsen was amazing Maybe the sleeping on the floor, but still this is part of the experience and i can also recommend it
- Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional stay - The service was absolutely exceptional - the staff were so friendly and helpful, and made our stay from check-in to meal time, and everything in between, smooth and enjoyable. The location of the property is a little outside of Atami city centre, but easy to get to via taxi or shuttle, and meant that it was a super relaxing stay. The rooms were luxurious, and the meals were outstanding. Everything was so good.
- Clara (10/5): -

- Choyeon (10/5): 환상적인 뷰와 걱정을 잊게 만드는 따끈한 노천탕 - 방의 아웃도어 개인탕이 너무 좋았음 특별히 없어요
- 御品 (10/5): - 服務
- Omer (10/5): Perfection: amazing view, amazing private onsen, nice staff, clean. perfect - well organized, quite, beautiful view!!! Clean and comfortable! Nice staff!
- Lydon (7/5): -
- Isriya (10/5): Perfect getaway - The room is beautiful with spacious private onsen overlooking Atami from above. Everything in the room is meticulously designed for beauty and function. The dinner and breakfast were good. The dinner was in this tiny 2x2 meters with closed door and no window. I felt a bit claustrophobic. Some guests got to sit in a cubicle with huge window overlooking Atami. We made a request and we got it in the morning.
- federico (9/5): Struttura di alto livello, personale accogliente e molto gentile. Cucina tipica locale anche colazione solo salata su cu -
- Rolando (10/5): A once in a lifetime experience - The private onsen was perfect, truly a once in a lifetime experience to relax like that with a beautiful view of the pacific and the city of Atami. The food was also some of the best we've ever had and an outstanding example of japanese cuisine. Both dinner and breakfast were a master class in cooking and hospitality. We personally took a walk up from Atami station and despite the heat found the views along the way extraordinary. Once we arrived there we were treated to some of the best service I've ever experienced at a hotel. Truly an exceptional staff. I have no real complaints. Just be prepared this is an authentic Japanese ryokan and dinner and breakfast are served within a specific window. So be prepared to eat at those times.
- Hanya (10/5): Lovely experience! - The friendly staff
The location and view amazing
Cleanliness
The food experience The only thing is that we wish was there is an option to order food or water or any near snacks (as everything else is a bit far from the property)
- Meng (10/5): Thank you for the wonderful stay, as well as the delicious breakfast and dinner. My daughter and I look forward to seein - The property is very cozy and offers a stunning view of Atami. The staff members are extremely attentive. Both breakfast and dinner are delicious, featuring fresh vegetables and meat. Be sure to come with a big appetite, as they serve generous portions. Additionally, the resort provides a shuttle service to and from the property. Thank you to everyone for making my daughter and me feel so welcome. We have nothing to say except that we missed the place.
- Carlotta (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jennifer (10/5): Stunning traditional ryokan, a stay fit for royalty - This private property and its kind staff are incredible. We had two traditional Japanese dinners and two breakfasts with our stay, and the variety and quality of meals were excellent, light but hearty, with reasonable prices for sake add-ons during dinner. They even provided menus for the extensive meal sets in English and spoke to us frequently in English, which we did not expect but so very much appreciated as our Japanese is not great.
The Aoi room is beautiful and private - it's setup with a living area (that can accommodate futons) and a more western bedroom with the shower and private onsen patio. The roomwear included ensured we had clean houseclothes for time spent out of the onsen, and yukata are provided for dinner. When we arrived, they placed our luggage on a mat to ensure our outside baggage did not touch/damage the tatami mats - that's how clean and attentive they are. The amenities (soap/shampoo/etc) were amazing, and I think they even filter their shower water because it was quite soft. The provided free drinks (soda, beer, water) in the fridge, coffee service, and tea service with locally made tea and wagashi in the living room were excellent perks and ensured our two night stay, extended to further enjoy the ryokan in addition to Atami, was a great choice.
This ryokan also provides a shuttle down the winding road into town, which we used daily and easily picked up/dropped off at the Atami train station depot. I was honestly sad to leave, I think about the bath probably every day. This is so small I feel silly even mentioning it, but I love the scent of incense and wish they had burned even more of it in the room corridors to add to the ambiance
- Ryan (10/5): Heavenly - Beautiful and relaxing with amazing staff and great service and food It was truly a 10/10 stay
Only tiny ask would be to have more coffee available
- Jensen (10/5): Amazing stay! Staff was very friendly and inviting. A clean and welcoming environment that allowed you to fully relax - Amazing! Very try clean and welcoming environment. Didn’t leave the hotel at all since we were only there for one night, but the rooms were spacious and comfortable.
- Wayne (10/5): One of the best experiences we have had in Japan - From the moment the staff greeted us until they escorted us to our shuttle it was a wonderful experience. Sitting in the onsen watching the rain drip off the trees and the birds greeting the sunrise was magical Not a thing
- Kayla (10/5): A Magical Coastal Ryokan with Sunset Views from the Private Bath - I stayed at this ryokan with my partner. We had never stayed at one before, and learned Atami was renowned for being a weekend getaway for Tokyo salaryman during the 1950s-1980s and famous for their hot spring resorts, so Watei Kazekomichi checked many boxes for being a traditional styled accommodation with private baths for shy guests. Our stay at this beautiful ryokan was to celebrate our anniversary, and to my surprise, our engagement. We wanted to visit somewhere outside of Tokyo and my partner fell in love with the coastal town of Atami. We were picked up and dropped off at Atami Station by the hotel staff, who were extremely friendly, helpful, and kind. We stayed in the Kiritsubo room and it offered beautiful views of the city from the main living area and from the bath. There is also an outside shower room and a toilet room. The bedroom offers two full/twin sized futons. We enjoyed kaiseki styled dinner and breakfast in intimate private booths, which we both greatly appreciated after the people fatigue we experienced from Shinjuku Station and Tokyo in general.
I want to thank with all of my heart the staff at Watei Kazekomichi. You were all so kind and understanding and patient, and I enjoyed being able to use what little Japanese I knew to talk about Babymetal and punk music with one of your staff members. I hope we conveyed how much we appreciated the town of Atami and those who live and work there. I hope we can return again and experience more of your beautiful town. You made the trip of a lifetime an unforgettable beautiful memory.
- Chao (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely astonishing experience, amazed by thoughtful details throughout our stay. Property well maintained and is very clean. Staff are just amazing.
- Alifa (10/5): Exceptional - Staff were friendly and the room was great. Onsen had a direct view to sakura trees (went during sakura season). Food / kaiseki was excellent. Made a request when I first booked 4 months ago to alter food due to dietary restrictions, and the staff remembered and gave the requested meal. They also picked us up at Atami station before check-in, and dropped us back at the same station after check out.
- Christine (10/5): Exceptional - Clean
- Murphy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gemma (10/5): Exceptional -
- Angelos (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pascale (9/5): Perfection! - Exactly how shown in the pictures! Top stay which incredible hosts and service, perfection 👌
- Tyler (10/5): Exceptional -
- Briana (10/5): A relaxing, fulfilling and culturally rich experience. Was easily the highlight for our Japan trip - The experience as a whole. It is really difficult to choose just one thing. Having breakfast and dinner included as add-ons is a MUST for your stay. Try to make it for the shuttle bus time, much easier on the travel. Also add a massage! As soon as you arrive, book one for that night (if you're staying just for one night) because the time slots get filled quickly. Nothing to note. Truly was an amazing stay.
- Shaun (10/5): Traditional and Beautiful - It was such a beautiful and surreal experience from first entering the Ryokan to the last day. The private onsen, service and meals were exceptional! Highly recommended place and we would love to return to Watei Kazekomichi again.
- Benjamin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Xinyun (10/5): peak relax - amazing private onsen to enjoy with partner/spouse/friend.
shuttle service is very nice for pickup and drop off from the train station. none
- Harold (10/5): Exceptional - The view was immaculate! Just seeing it from their reception already, that you are in for a treat! The hospitality of the place is great as well! They were very kind and very responsive with my request!! The food was amazing as well! I've never had this type of food presentation be that fancy and taste good as well! Props to the chef for the food! I would definitely come back to stay at this place if I ever get the chance again. It is a bit far away from the city area. That's honestly the only small thing I would complain, but they cover it by asking you if you want a shuttle to which stations to be dropped off, and picked up as well.
- Chris (10/5): Exceptional - A very good private onsen room. We didn’t go for the dinner option but judging by breakfast the chefs are very talented. We just didn’t want a kaiseki option as dinner. The beds are really comfortable and the staff go out of their way to make you comfortable. We wanted a more isolated onsen experience that focused on our privacy and that’s what we got.
- Brian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kathryn (10/5): I haven't felt this relaxed in months. Thank you Watei Kazekomichi! - The ryokan was gorgeous, beautiful view, very well appointed. The private onsen was incredible, looking out over Atami Bay. I felt very relaxed enjoying the hot tea provided. The dinner and breakfast were awesome and private. The service at the ryokan was exceptional as well, from the email communication beforehand, to the pickup/dropoff service, to our baggage handling, to the servers at the restaurant. High quality pajamas too. All 10/10. I only wish we could have had dinner in our room! But really not a big deal at all.
- Wendy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leiko (10/5): One of the most special and memorable experiences of our time in Japan! - We had a private dinner and breakfast served in our room which were both spectacular. This whole experience is first rate and incredibly special. A gem in Japan!
- Evan (10/5): Superb Boutique Ryokan Onsen Experience - Waem hospitality, fabulous service, spacious tatami suite with wonderful view over Atami and the bay, private hot spring bath, and delicious Japanese cuisine.
- Alan (7/5): Good -
- Barbara (10/5): Exceptional - We had a wonderful ryokan experience - amazing views from our room, exceptional food, very nice staff.
- Patricia (10/5): Exquisite food, prepared with car and attention to every detail. A lovely private hot springs too! - Quiet, serene and restful after a busy 3-weeks of touring. The view of the bay and surrounding forest was calming and beautiful. In the morning the birdsong was lively and delightful. The meals were outstanding! The best experience of our trip ( and we had many excellent meals). The presentation was lovely and the staff was attentive and helpful. We wish we could have stayed longer.
- Kyra (10/5): Short but very sweet. Nice to leave Kyoto and relax in lovely Atami. - What a tranquil and beautiful property! Our room was lovely, large and had an amazing view of the city/ocean. The soaking tub was huge and relaxing and the dinner and breakfast was seasonal and delicious. The incense burned in the room before our arrival added an incredible dimension, I just had to buy a few boxes before we left. It was all fantastic, no complaints.
- Ting (10/5): Definition of Sensational Experience - The experience was exceptional from start to finish. The room offered stunning views, and the service was truly top-notch with warm and attentive throughout our stay. Both dinner and breakfast were sensationally prepared and beautifully presented, making our stay such a memorable experience. Nope
- Ptak (10/5): Exceptional - Staying at Watei Kazekomichi was an unforgettable experience. The private apartment offered breathtaking views, and having an onsen right there was such a special luxury. The people there were wonderful, going above and beyond to make my stay feel personalized and welcoming. The food was perfect—each meal felt like a work of art, both in taste and presentation. I can’t wait to go back; it’s a place that truly embodies relaxation and beauty. Highly recommend to anyone looking for an incredible stay in Atami. ❤️
