Below average Food Quality. đ - Location- 5 minutes walking distance to Buddha park at the same time you need to walk down 15 minutes to reach the market.
Room- Decent with good arrangements and clean bathroom with that price point.
Service- Good but lilbit late I can say. Food Quality- Trust me i was not impressed at all. (3.5/10) đ
Don't go by reviews you will regret.
#Better eat somewhere else in my genuine opinion.
- Madhumay (8/5): Very good -
- Prithwiraj (8/5): Very good - Neatness, courteous, scenic view from the varandah, room service. They could provide an electric kettle for hot water and a water heater or room heater.
- Priyo (9/5): Hangkhim Welcome đ - Excellent hostess and her daughter make guests feel welcome and almost family. She's a very nice cook and prepares great delicious food with everyday ingredients for breakfast and dinner. Warm and friendly hospitality! Very enjoyable experience. Maybe it would be a slight improvement if they served lunch on request as well?

- Sudha (8/5): Budget stay - Near by Buddha park.nice view.food was fabulous Nothing much
- Bijoy (9/5): Superb -
- Kaushik (9/5): Superb - Good behavior. Less of staff.
- Nina (1/5): Unfriendly and unwelcoming dirty hotel with horrible food - This place is not a homestay but a guesthouse/hotel with a proper reception, a charming lady who cleans the place and runs the reception and another charming lady who comes in to prepare meals (neither of whom can speak any English).
The location of the place is perfect - it has an phantastic view, and if you have a room with a mountain view, on a good day, you can see Kangchendzönga. It is also just a short 15-20 minutes walk uphill to Buddha Park.
There is a restaurant-like dining area on the ground floor which has the atmosphere of a typical Indian restaurant.
Note that the place doesnât have WiFi (as is customary on this area). There is also not laundry service. This is my fourth trip to India, and altogether, I have travelled in India for more than 5 months over the years. When reviewing this guesthouse, I am comparing it with other Indian facilities in the same price category. Within this price category, this was the worst accommodation I have ever been in - for several reasons.
Firstly, our room was not as advertised and booked. It did not look like the pictures on Booking.com at all. The verbal description said that there would be a dining area (by the pictures suggesting a table and a chair), a balcony and a wardrobe. The description also said there would be toilet paper, toiletries, slippers and towels. There was no balcony, chair or table. The wardrobe couldnât be used because it was full of dusty pillows and extra beddings which smelled like an old attic and made me sneeze when I opened it - so we ended up piling our clothes on the floor and on our backpacks. Moreover, although we booked a room for two person, a second towel was only provided grudingly, and we werenât provided with toilet paper.
Secondly, this is one of the dirtiest places I have ever stayed in world-wide. I already mentioned the wardrobe, but worse were the blankets (which we really needed because of the temperature) and which were not covered with linens (as is customary in this area) - they, too, had obviously not been washed for ages, so we slept in whatever dirt an bugs previous guests left us, and the room was so dusty that both of us got allergic reactions.
Thirdly, we purposely booked a homestay to have contact to a family, get local advice and to have place to rest, read and while away time comfortably. As this is NOT a homestay, we didnât meet anyone for the whole stay apart from the two staff members. So there was also noone to give us advice about the area (which would have been important as there was local festival which we wanted to visit).
- Partha (10/5): A True Home Away from Home - My stay at Hankhim Homestay was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I arrived, I was warmly greeted by the hosts, who went out of their way to make me feel welcome and comfortable. The atmosphere of the homestay truly feels like homeâcozy, inviting, and filled with personal touches that reflect the care and love of the owners.
The rooms are beautifully decorated, blending comfort with a sense of local culture. Every corner of the house exudes warmth, from the soft linens on the bed to the carefully curated decor. Itâs the kind of place where you can kick off your shoes, curl up with a book, and instantly feel at ease.
What really sets this homestay apart, though, is the hospitality. The hosts were attentive to every detail, always ready with a smile, and eager to help with anything I needed. Whether it was recommendations for local attractions, or preparing a delicious homemade breakfast that made me feel right at home, their kindness was a constant throughout my stay.
The peaceful surroundings also added to the experience. Nestled away from the hustle and bustle, Hankhim Homestay provided the perfect escape, yet it was close enough to all the local sights to make exploring easy.
Overall, Hankhim Homestay is a true gem. Itâs the kind of place where you donât just stayâyou live. If youâre looking for a place that feels like a home away from home, I canât recommend this homestay highly enough.
