- Aravind (10/5): Truly exceptional home stay in historic and cultural part of town - Exceptional in all ways. The hosts took care of me like family. Especially when I fell sick for a few days. The place is located right in the middle of historic, artsy, and cultural part of the entire Kathmandu valley. Yet, since it is inside a gully, it is quiet and chaos free. Couldn't get a better location than this and I have gone around town (both Kathmandu and Lalitpur) looking for accommodation. The room is spacious, clean, and warm with a very comfortable double bed and sofas. The large smart TV with YouTube, Netflix, etc was good addition. Bath and toilet are for your own use just outside of your room. I didn't use the balcony much but definitely useful to sit and catch some direct sun in the morning. The rooms have large windows with curtains allowing plenty of light and also giving privacy. I slept well. In just 2 mins walk out of the gully, you are in the middle of everything - lots of restaurants and bars, cafes, art shops, momo stalls, historic temples, market, stores, money exchange, etc. Thamel and Kathmandu center square are just about 3 miles / 15 mins by taxi or scooter. But frankly, as a tourist, I liked this cultural part of town so much better than Thamel and Kathmandu main town. It was ok to visit them for a day. From the terrace of this apartment you can view the entire Kathmandu valley which is amazing.
