• Jakub (1/5): Worst experience in Japan - The location is in a calm neighborhood, the train station with good connection to the city center is only 3 min walk from there, there is a supermarket close by, a small self-service shop with ready meals and an incredible sushi place. Unfortunately, the location is the only good thing about this place. It took us a month after leaving this accomodation to write a review. Let's start with that fact that we knew it would be small, but imagine the smallest possible apartment where nobody used their brains to think about the layout. The space could've been used so much better, but as it was, there was absolutely no place to put your clothes or bags. The washing machine is completely useless in this apartment without a drier function. There could be shelves or a wardrobe instead of it and it would be much better. However, the worst thing about the apartment was an absolut lack of cleaning. There was hair everywhere, the pillows had white stains of body liquids, the kitchen, bathroom and fridge were dirty, the kettle had water in it left after previous tenants. The cherry on top of all of it was that there was no hot water running at the day of our arrival. So after the whole day of traveling we had no chance to even take a shower. We called the number left in the instructions and learnt that a big rental company owns this building and they had no idea what the building looks like and gave us misleading instructions of how to solve the problem. Finally, they were able to give us correct instructions to try and fix the issue (yes, they said we need to fix the gas boiler ourselves, surprisingly it didn't help). We were really angry and tired at this point and after arguing with them, they said they will send someone to look at the problem the next day, and also do the re-cleaning. We wanted to be there, because we didn't want to leave our stuff with some random person, so we agreed on the time and waited the next day for someone to come. After wasting our precious time on waiting with the accomodation not communicating with us at all at this point, we left almost 1 hour later after the time we agreed on. Nobody showed up.

• Sagar (10/5): Great Value for Money for a Service styled Apartment - I like the area as I am quite familiar with this area and my second time staying at Ugard. Staircase area could be cleaner but otherwise trust me the room is top notch clean and has all the amenities to even cook.

• Gamal (8/5): uGard Shimomaruko 1-Week Stay - It’s quite clean. The staff is friendly and answered our inquiries promptly. The toilet is Japanese. Amenities were great. There was no elevator. We had to carry the heavy suitcases up and down a narrow staircase up to the fourth floor. It was awfully exhausting.

I understand Japanese style tubs are smaller in general but this one was the least comfortable I’ve ever experienced. Mattress was a bit firm for my personal taste.

• Massimiliano (7/5): - The location was very convenient and so close to the Shimomaruko station. The room was super-clean. There is all you need inside and around the location where are restaurants, convenience stores and a supermarket. Although the room is very small, there is everything you need for a short stay. The room was quite new and everything worked perfectly. The procedure to get the keys and access the room is too complicated and lengthy especially when you have to do it, like me, in the heavy rain: too many manual codes etc. This must be absolutely improved. The washing machine is not usable because there was no soap and it does not have a drying function. You could dry the clothes inside the shower room but, except for two hangers, there is nothing else to hang the clothes. The washing machine also has a panel only written in Japanese and there are no instructions in English to use it. For 5 nights I was given only two small soaps which is a bit small as a kit, no liquid soap for the shower.

• Ave (6/5): - Breakfast was not offered. The location was lovely and we enjoyed all the neighborhood shops and the helpful neighbors. Shimomaruko was truly beautiful and we would love to go back. An email explaining the check in process would have helped a lot. The description did not mention the fact that there was no host on site for check in and when I called no one answered initially. I had to make several international calls to get help to access the keys and check in.
