Guest Reviews
- luis romualdo (8/5): Gps kaputt - Esmorçar superior El access dificil accedir amb gps.

- Blanca (9/5): Ruhiger Ort - Super Lage. Freundliches Personal. Leckeres
- Fahad (10/5): -
- Murillo Bortot (4/5): - Its a big house. The other rooms were empty, we had privacy. The bed sheets were clean. Only good for one night stop. Toilets were not clean.
We had no internet to talk to owner and we got stuck on traffic and arrived late. Owner could have explained how to checkin one day before. The result was that we arrived at the point marked on google maps and couldn't get inside until a neighbor called the owner. Owner complained we didn't show up on time but we were stuck on traffic and had no internet. Suggestion for the owner: give the wifi password with booking a message so guests can tell him when they arrive and are in front of the house waiting to check in.
- Javier (10/5): - Bueno en precio, desayuno, buenas camas, cerca de los sitios de interés, súper amables y atentos y zona de parking Muy deteriorado y antiguo, poco mantenimiento y necesita más limpieza profunda
- Tearda (1/5): -
- Kathy (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful house, and my guest was super sweet & friendly. It was a little difficult to find, and I had to climb a steep hill. Recommended that they hang some kind of sign.
- Keith (10/5): Exceptional - Find the hotel Empire of Martin. The road to the hotel comes in on the south side, follow the steep road. Excellent breakfast, lovely, helpful owner. Not an easy road to find, easy to get lost in Gjirokaster.
Some exposed wires, shower wets toilet, sink tap wasn't working. 5.30
- Christopher (8/5): Very good -
- Anja (10/5): Exceptional - The guesthouse is the perfect place from which to explore Gjirokaster. The host is really lovely and has many recommendations. You will get an authentic impression of life in Albania.
The view from the balcony is breathtaking. -
- Sayeesh (4/5): Disappointing -
- Emil (6/5): Pleasant - Really nice helpful owner and a nice property in a stunning location close to the city centre. Breakfast was really nice and the views of the city and mountains were great from our balcony. Needed a bit more attention with small things as our sheets were stained and the bathroom wasn't very nice as the toilet had no seat and didn't flush properly and was a little dirty in general.
- Stavroula (9/5): Superb - The owner was very kind and friendly. Near to the Center and with parking nearby. The room was value for money and the breakfast very tasty
- Jennie (8/5): Great place to stay - Good loation near the old town but can be a little difficult to find as no sign on the entrance area. What3words location is fancied.tumble.ringers
Good view of the castle from upstairs, good value for money
Gjirokaster is a lovely place so definitely worth visiting Breakfast outside was traditional Albanian style but a hot tea or coffee would have made it better or a kettle to make your own
- Anna (6/5): Pleasant - The location is not far from the old town but it's still away from the loudest parts of the city. The included parking was also a nice benefit. The communication with the host was smooth. We got two separate rooms as we were a larger group and both of our bathrooms were not really clean at all. There was no toilet paper and in one of the rooms the door to the bathroom didn't close at all and neither did the window of the room.
- Gabriela (10/5): Best guesthouse in Gjirokastër! - Best place to stay in Gjirokastër! Just few minutes away from the centre. The room was very cozy and had everything we needed. The breakfast was amazing as we really enjoy Albanian cuisine! The host is the most helpful and kind person we met during our trip. We might come back in the future just to stay here again:-) Make sure you go to the right address - if you’re not sure just call the host, who answers immediately and is ready to help you:-)
- Nerea (9/5): Superb - The place is really nice and the woman was super kind, it is a really good place to stay if you are in Gjrokastra. Near to the center and the castle. Breakfast was also so nice. Maybe putting the right location of the place in booking would be great because it was difficult to find. The new location of the place is Rruga Bukurie Bazo.
- Mateusz (8/5): Top tier location, great value for and lovely host - Location is top tier when it comes to the vicinity to the main attractions (~10-15mins by foot to the Castle and Old Bazaar). The host is a lovely woman which gives all her heart to make you feel like you stay at your relatives. She let us choose the room and even sat on the other room's terrace with an extraordinary view (we were the only guests that night). The breakfast was tasty and nutritious which keeps you feeling full until evening. We could park the car on the premises even after check-out which is a huge plus. Their neighbour was so nice to unblock the parking space occupied with his car and even share his homegrown grapes with us. A bit tricky to get to and no signs around so we weren't sure if we arrived at the right spot until the host arrived.
- Malthe (9/5): Superb -
- Kamila (9/5): Superb -
- Diti (9/5): Amazing host. Amazing stay. Would recommend. - The host was so friendly and helpful.
We would call her for everything (even not related to the property) and she would answer and help us.
It was a family run business so youre helping the local family’s if you stay here.
they also prepared us a wonderful breakfast (which was also included in the price) and came as a surprise. Delicious bio food.
Absolutely would recommend.
- Ikerne (7/5): Good -
- Rebecca (5/5): Passable - The lady and her son who own the guesthouse are lovely and accommodating. This place has so much potential however simple things are causing issues, firstly with no signage it is incredibly hard to find. Should you book, follow Google maps to the street, once you find the street which is steep there is a sloped drive on your left and then a set of stairs up to the guesthouse. Arrange a time to meet the owner in advance as she is not always at the location.
Room very large but bare wires and unfinished
- Marc (8/5): Very good - The owner served us orange juice by the terrace.
- Alison (8/5): Excellent location - Amazing location! The view is incredible. Once the host arrived (Antilya? I hope I have her name correct) she went out of her way to even show me where the old bazaar in Gjirokaster is and brought me breakfast the next morning. Disturbance from construction work building an adjoining extension starting just after 6am.
The window in the bedroom couldn't fully close and a cat spent most of the night just outside it meowing.
- Christianna (10/5): Exceptional - Very cute room and great view!
- Steven (3/5): I wouldn’t stay here… - This stay was a bit of a disaster for us, for various reasons…
The property was difficult to find.
When we got there, they didn’t have our booking.
They let us stay, but we were the only people there (it must have been closed for the winter)
The room was freezing (it was colder inside than outside)
Breakfast was random…the breakfast room was a mess, we had been left a glass of juice and a boiled egg.
It was cheap and we were too late to find somewhere else, so we ran with it - but wouldn’t recommend it As above
- Robertas (6/5): Pleasant -
- Alessio (9/5): Superb - The house was old but in the good way with impressive walls. The furniture are not old and the guy that welcomed us was helpful and kind.
- Dennis7917 (8/5): Very good -
- Tamara (9/5): Superb - Staying in this 400 years old stone house was very lovely. We like to stay close to nature and this was pretty good for us. The view from there is beautiful. The walk to the old town takes only a few minutes through the tunnel.
The included traditional breakfast was good and even near by you can find a little shop and a little traditional restaurant. .
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely rooms, comfortable beds. Free breakfast. Very kind and caring host.
- L (1/5): This place is a scam. Did not have a bathtub or flatscreen TV, like it’s description says. Many of the room details list - Nothing. - Staff + owner were horrible
- inaccurate and misleading description
- Loose wires sticking out - felt unsafe
- The fact we got scammed
- V (6/5): Pleasant - The landlord was responsive on a phone and communicated in english.
The matress was very good quality and comfortable for my back (not too hard, not too soft).
The place was quiet and pleasant. Breakfast was more troublesome than pleasant.
We ordered the earliest possible time (8 a.m.) so that we catch a bus, but the staff came to the property at 8.25 (after another waiting guests called the landlord) so we got the breakfast at 8.35.
The property listed a bath facility, but there was only a shower.
- Catherine (6/5): I wouldn’t stay again, - Lovely view from the patio, very helpful staff at breakfast time We paid for a room with a view but we’re given a very dark 2 bedroomed apartment , one bedroom with no windows and the other with a tiny window looking out onto an overgrown back alley, the electrics weren’t finished, taped wires where wall lights should have been. The light in the second bedroom flashed all night even tho it was turned off. No signposts or instructions how to find the property, we used the map and thought we were in the correct place but no signs, even over the door, a message prior to explain would have been helpful, as no one on site.
- Patrik (10/5): Exceptional - Really nice staff, helped us order food from the city. Breakfast was mainly all homemade so it was Great
Strongly recommend 👍
- Coline (10/5): Great place - People are really nice
- Mattias (9/5): Superb -
- Jane (2/5): Not up to standard, left after one night - Quiet location
- Duijn (9/5): Superb -
- Fatma (8/5): Very good -
- Anna (8/5): Very good - The very beautiful landscape and nice neighbourhood! The room was warm and cozy. Very difficult to get to the entrance!!!
- Kristi (6/5): Pleasant - Great location, amazing views. Okay stay for one night as the room we stayed had only beds and bathroom. No bedside table or any other furniture so all your things are on the floor. Must have been the newest renovated room as loads of wires hanging out from the walls.
- Patricia (9/5): Superb - very clean and aesthetically pleasing, helpful staff, delicious breakfast wifi did not work in room
- David (4/5): Wasnt awful, but wouldnt recommend. - It has nice look. I guess its being renovated.
Cables hanging from the wall. Lights are blinking.
There is nothing else just beds in the room, put your things anywhere on the floor.
2 towel for 4 people. Not a possibillity to get one extra bedsheet.
We were asked what time we would like Breakfest. Wanted 8:15 we were told 8:30 is when they start breakfests. We got served after 9 o clock. Wouldnt care id somebody told us its gonna be later, but nobody cared.
There is a new road leading 400m from the place. 400m you going through old town. Impossible to find the place, not marked. Locals helped us. Very hard to reach parking (not marked parking)
- Brisida (8/5): Very good - The owners were extremely helpful, the guesthouse was very clean and the breakfast traditional and tasty. A short walk from the Bazzar of Gjirokaster. Sorrounded by trees and very peaceful place.
- Goran (8/5): Very good - Apartment is in some small castle tower, very nice. Location is in the old part of the city and very difficult to arrive with car.
- Chloe (10/5): The most panoramic view! - The staff were amazing and extremely friendly. The manager responded straight away both over phone and over booking.com messenger. The room was prestine and had a traditional feel. There were panoramic views and the best views of the town in my opinion. The location was perfect, it was a 5 minute walk into the Baazar and castle but also only about a 15 minute walk up to the Ali Pashar Bridge. There was a free breakfast every morning which consisted of traditional food, juice and milk. You get 10% of takeaway and you can also organise a taxi service with discount off when you speak to the host. We loved our stay here. Air con would be a much needed improvement especially in August but apart from this the room was great value for money.
- Milaim (8/5): Very good -
- Elisabet (7/5): Good - it was really cute and close to the visiting points in a quiet area shower without curtains
- Christina (10/5): Very authentic place. Both the host and the lokation. Close to everything and nice breakfast. -
- Arti (5/5): Passable - Was nice big room No mirror on room or toilet
- Bence (6/5): Okay for a one-night stay, but wouldn't stay for a longer period of time - -view is great from terrace
-the owner guy is really helpful, he ordered dinner and even delivered it for us.
-shared kitchen with big fridge, which we really appreciated
-we could do laundry (for 3€) -wifi is poor
-rooms are not well equipped (shower head was broken, toilet seat was not fitting toilet, lightbulb was flickering)
-guesthouse is not easy to find (a local neighbour helped us who only spoke albanian), additional advice: don't follow google maps directions, use waze, this app knows the direct location to the parking place
-it's not a problem, but parking is for experienced drivers only
-breakfast was late (we agreed to be leaving the earliest possible - 8:45-9:00, but he showed up 9:30 to even start preparing)
- Bronwyn (7/5): Good -
- Pommereau (10/5): Exceptional - This place is wonderful. The rooms are brand new, the view of the mountains is incredible. Staff very friendly and reliable. Very comfortable with a superb breakfast on the morning. I truly recommend !
- Alejandro (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emily (9/5): Gorgeous place, very welcoming hosts - Great, quiet location, lovely terrace and view, very helpful and friendly hosts, and a great breakfast. Not something we didn’t like, just careful if you’re driving and following google maps to this property - there’s a new highway which takes you between the castle and the guesthouse which is very easy but didn’t exist on our map! Wouldn’t recommend driving through the narrow roads
- Thomas (7/5): Authentic stay with lovely staff and great value. - Very authentic with lovely breakfast and views. Difficult to locate and room was quite warm due to lack of AC.
- Vlora (10/5): Exceptional -
- Štěpánka (10/5): Exceptional - Very beautiful new accommondation. Clean room, working AC, tasty breakfast.
For some fee you can do your laundry and there is shared kitchen with fridge.
It is located on hill so we would recommend to take a taxi from bus station :) but the view is worth it.
Host was very helpful and very kind. And offers some discounts to taxi or restaurants, just ask. Little troubles with wifi in room bcs of thick walls, on the other hand it keeps room cooler :)
- Thomas (7/5): Overall I had a nice experience due to the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff.staff. The place has not been open - The view was nice. The staff was great and incredibly helpful. They went out of their way to assist me with everything! It is hard to find and the walk to the old town is about 10 minutes and none of it is flat. The parking is a nightmare. If you have a car do not stay here.
- Joost (9/5): Superb -
- Veera (10/5): It was really quite. I slept really well and it was wonderful to wake up with the birds singing - The location was perfect. A cross the big road belou after the parked cars, you can walk thorough a cool tunnel on the castle wall straight to the old center of Gjirocastre. People in the guesthouse were superfriendly and a lady came to get us from the street after we called the place.
Breakfast was super nice on a terrace with a very beautiful view. There could have been a sign of the place below in the crossing.
- Muqkurtaj (3/5): Poor -
- Agnė (4/5): Disappointing - Nice location There was no shower, only shower head in the middle of the bathroom, and no toilet cover. Breakfast was dissapointing. And towels were with blood stains.
- Xhodi (9/5): Good vibing during the stay - Position asthe owners Position
- Dagmar (10/5): Exceptional - Very good place with wonderful views. We rented a small car with weak engine, so we were afraid if the car makes it that much up the hill, but we succeeded.
Host communicated promptly and helped with some recommendations.
Very kind staff and tasty traditional breakfast😊
- Caro (7/5): Good -
- Ruben (8/5): very good accommodation - very nice staff, delicious breakfast with a great view nothing
- Julian (9/5): A very relaxing and one-of-a-kind experience filled with local tradition vibes and great staff service. - It has an old style architecture with the vibe of local tradition and the classic houses furniture that Gjirokastra is known for.
The staff was exceptionally polite and helpful. I have never met nicer people. Property was next to the castle and the view of the entire town from the garden was absolutely mesmerizing. Breakfast in the front yard was a great way to start the day. Construction was not 100% completed as the room and toilet still needed some final works, which did not play much role in the overall experience
- Frei (10/5): Perfect - Great view
And friendly host Nothing
- Maria (9/5): Great value for money - Excellent room, super clean, and overall great value for money. Would recommend
