- Ichiyo (10/5): Lovely place! Highly recommended! - Thank you! Very thoughtful — homemade cookies, what looks like free-range eggs, and freshly baked bread delivered to the door. Much appreciated. Nothing!
- Janine (10/5): -
- Kaylene (10/5): Great stay - I felt very welcome. The home cooked biscuits, bread freshly out of the oven and the fresh farm eggs are a lovely touch. Yum! Safe parking. Great location for me- enroute to Masterton for work.
- Hannah (10/5): Excellent stay – lovely touch with the home-cooked bread. - Some of our team traveled for work purposes - The team asked me to pass on some really positive feedback about this accommodation. They said it was great! They especially appreciated the home-cooked bread, which was such a thoughtful touch.
Thank you for a great stay Nicole

us warmly. the view is magnificent. Everything perfect..excellent
- Leigh (8/5): Great. We would recommend to other travellers. - Close to Carterton but out of town so quiet and peaceful. Plenty of room for a family. Clean and tidy with everything we needed. The host was great to deal with and provided home baking for breakfast. Our son enjoyed a dip in the pool. The pull out bed wasn't very comfortable.
- Rosanna (9/5): -
- Chloe (10/5): Relaxing and great value for money - Home made bread and fresh eggs! There was nothing I didn't like
- Ann (10/5): Very accommodating generous hosts providing us with home made and home grown goodies. - Rural setting. Access to in ground swimming pool
- Belinda (10/5): If you want some tranquility and great hospitality… this is your spot. - It’s such a gorgeous spot and super close to Greytown and Carterton, yet feels like a remote piece of paradise.
We loved the animals and the visit from the dog. The breakfast was yummo and the views from every window were lovely. We loved the property.
- Ngan (10/5): We were invited to a bonfire night at Waione gorge greeted by a rainbow next morning. - Lovely home baked bread. Could do with a jam or marmalade. Would be good to have a clock. Couldn't be better.
- Virginia (9/5): -
- Aj (10/5): -
- Sarah (10/5): Perfect little get away cottage - Wonderful little cottage, great location, lovely owners. We really enjoyed our visit and highly recommend this accomodation. It was a short stay, but we would rebook in a heart beat.
- Sarah (10/5): Lovely stay - Good location, lovely host who provided us with freshly baked bread, farm fresh eggs and yummy biscuits. The cottage was very comfortable and feeding the sheep and the friendly dogs were just a bonus on top.
- Veltman (9/5): Superb - Close enough to Greytown/Carterton yet in country setting. Warm and nice linen. Clean and tidy. Not much but didn't have any butter.
- Teresa (8/5): Very good -
- Olivia (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful place, friendly hosts, such a wonderful stay!
- Angie (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was lovely about the place. A small cozy, family friendly cottage. Loved the animals, play areas and the pool. Felt welcome and spoilt by Nicole (the host)with the home made bread and baking provided to us during our stay. We would love to return one day. There was a misunderstanding with the booking through booking.com as I booked the place for 4 people (2 adults and 2 children) and thought I had paid accordingly. However, for the host the booking looked like it had been done only for 2 adults, so the actual fee was meant to be more than what we initially paid. However, the host was super kind and waived the extra cost given the misunderstanding.
- Laura (9/5): Superb -
- Tina (8/5): Very good - Lovely farm outlook. Owner was lovely. We arrived early and she was happy for us to come in and make a cuppa while she was finishing. Left us some lovely baking, eggs, milk and condiments. Plenty of tea and coffee and kitchen was equipt with more than we required. Has oven, dishwasher and full fridge.
Beds were clean and comfortable. Water was instant hot water and shower/bathroom was equipt with hand soap, hand lotion and bodywash.
Towels were big and spares in wardrobe.
Would stay again. We like a bigger bed (big people) and had a bit of roll together for us. Single bed for friend was jn lounge which would have been useful to know when booking as she was kept awake til we finished watching TV. Chairs in dining room are a bit worse for wear but I'm sure are on the list for upgrade at some stage. Pool is outside owners property although they were happy for us to swim we didn't.
- De (8/5): Very good -
- Gabrielle (10/5): Exceptional - The breakfast supplied was a really thoughtful touch, especially for a short stay.
- Megan (10/5): A quiet relaxing break - Absolutely everything was what we wanted for a relaxing stay. Nicole and family's place is spacious, super clean and warm and with the sheep, lambs and dogs specially Lotta the gumboot dog, and the chickens and Rooster going for a stroll felt like home away from home. Nicole's treats were devine and great location between Greytown and Caterton. Awesome views. There was nothing to not like, this place is awesome with great hosts. Thanks for allowing us to stay.
- Liz (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (10/5): Excellent and value for money - Lovely meeting Nicole, and our furry welcome from the very friendly dogs. Really Enjoyed the fresh homemade bread, eggs and afgan biscuits, what a treat. Bed was very comfortable. Waihakeke Cottage Is a lovely place to stay I highly recommend.

- Dalope (9/5): Lovely Waihakeke Cottage - The owners were friendly and made sure that our stay is comfortable and enjoyable. Nicole made home baked goodies too! We had a lovely time!

- Ewart (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ilana (10/5): Exceptional - Brilliant accommodation, great location, peaceful, warm, comfortable, with great amenities and lovely hosts. I would highly recommend staying here. Great value for money. Thanks Nicole Everything was excellent
- Victoria (9/5): Would be great for a longer stay - Location was quiet, bed had an electric blanket & the cottage had a heat pump which heated the place up perfectly. Spacious and clean. The freshly baked loaf was a real treat, thank you very much Nicole! Having such an amazing greeting from Lotta & Hazel was also lovely. Very well-equipped cottage with clothes washer & dishwasher, would be very nice for a longer stay with own groceries. Decent-sized fridge & freezer. Being on a lifestyle farm with cattle around, flies will likely be a problem in warmer weather. We stayed in early May in NZ, with the morning temperature at around 6 deg C and very cool evening temperature. Yet there were still flies in the cottage that we had to chase out.
- Jeiel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Katherine (10/5): Relaxing spot with rural views, on the road between Greytown and Carterton - Very relaxing spot, clear directions and great communication, friendly hosts. The cottage had everything we needed for a weekend getaway. Nothing
- Debbie (9/5): Perfect - This property is ideal for families lots for the children to do. We had a lovely time and will return sometime in the summer to use the pool.
- Kate (9/5): A lovely, friendly, quiet place to land and some green space and cows to gaze out on - perfect. -
- Jackie (6/5): It was close to Greytown, a good option for a family. - Host was very welcoming, even baking fresh bread. Great shower. The couch was a sofa bed and was uncomfortable to sit on to read, including of single chair.
- Anneke (9/5): Superb -
- Ralph (10/5): Lovely. - Located at the edge of Carterton the cottage is a good base to explore the Martinbourough-region. We also made trips to Cape Palliser, to the Putangirua Pinnacles (the Dimholt Road for lotr-fans), the Rivendell-location and the Waiohine-Gorge.
Breakfast with homemade bread and fresh eggs was outstanding and the hosts recommended lovely restaurants.
Last but not least - we loved Hazel and Lotta, the two dogs of the family.
We'll try to come back soon!
- Howard (10/5): Very nice house with full kitchen - Spacious house with full kitchen, new and clean. Location is good just few steps outside Carterton town. Host is very kind to provide fresh eggs, bread and cake. Recommand to stay. Nothing
- Lisa (10/5): A delightful Country gem - Comfy bed in room, great shower, fantastic pool, had a full kitchen, coffee pods, extras such as baked bread & biscuits. We loved the friendly dogs and animals on site too. Great communication and friendly owners. We enjoyed the country feel yet so close to both Carterton and Greytown. Nothing, apart from our power going off which was out of their control, everything was awesome. We were given candles and a torch lamp to help.
- Jenny (9/5): Superb - Spacious and clean space.
Felt like hone away from home
Very friendly doggies too
Great homemade bread and eggs and cookies yummmmyyyy
- Trudi (10/5): Perfect Thank you - The little extras very much appreciated. Home baked bread and cookies and fresh eggs!!
- Glenis (9/5): Superb -
- Rene (8/5): Very warm welcome with the most gorgeous blackberry jam on warm bread with cookies . The attention to detail was a const - Peaceful rural environment yet close to most things Nil
- Amelia (10/5): Perfect rural retreat - We were greeted at the driveway by the owners' labradors, who brought gifts of gumboots and plant pots. We had delicious fresh eggs from the chickens and a loaf of freshly baked bread delivered while we were out. As well as homemade cookies, which our daughter absolutely went to town on!
We really appreciate Nicole's accommodation for our children. She had a porta-cot set up and a huge box of toys.
All in all, Waihakeke Cottage is great value for money. We would book again in a heartbeat. I can honestly say that there wasn't a single thing that we didn't love about our stay.
- Colleen (10/5): Exceptional - Friendly host, very relaxing, central to everything we wanted to do.
Topped off with homemade bread and fresh farm eggs.
- Sonia (9/5): Great hosts, very clean and beds super comfy. Fresh bread, eggs, cookies and even a birthday treat! - Location was great, hosts were fabulous. We were treated to fresh bread, eggs, cookies along with muesli and honey etc and they even made cupcakes for my Mum's birthday, so thoughtful. The beds were super comfy, accommodation was lovely and clean, and the shower was great. Was nice looking out onto the farm, patting the sheep and watching the calves and cows. Would definitely stay again, thanks Nicole!
- Ilse (10/5): Loved the cottage, the peaceful, private environment and the beautiful country scenery. - Lovely bread with cereals. Owner offered fresh eggs from own chooks. Kitchen scissors will be really helpful
- Andrea (10/5): Fantastic family semi rural retreat - Rural retreat. Freshly baked loaf, jam and eggs a welcoming thought. Toys for children.
Very comfy with great views
- Brenda (10/5): We will be back - Lovely place!
We were warmly greeted by Nicole and the dogs on arrival. Spotless cottage very comfortable and well outfitted for longer stays. Bed was very comfortable and a very good shower. We were spoiled with freshly baked bread, cookies and eggs.

- Uday (10/5): Exceptional -
- Derek (8/5): Very good -
- Judy (8/5): Great stay - Really nice place to stay close to Greytown.
- Marie (10/5): Peaceful and Relaxing Accommodation - There was a great selection of books (adult reading and children), children's toys, and board games.
The cottage has an open plan kitchen, dining and living room... very roomy.
The heater, lights and towel rail were all on for our late arrival... this was much appreciated.
The bathroom had nice moisturiser, shower gel and hand wash :) ...
A lovely shower...good water pressure.
The full kitchen was excellent...oven, hob, normal sized fridge freezer, washing machine (in the kitchen) (clothes horse for drying), dishwasher, nespresso machine, toaster and kettle.
The cottage is set just back from the main highway. A guest has the luxury of the peaceful farm and also the easy access to head north or south for their travels...
The beds were good ... electric blanket ... restful sleeps (a mattress topper for the main bed could be a good addition).
The hosts - Nicole gave great driving instructions ... Finding Waihakeke Cottage was no problem, because of this. They left a beautiful gift of fresh bread and cookies!
Our stay was stress-free!
Thank you very much. Leaving! :)
We would've liked to have stayed longer to enjoy the surrounds.
There was only one thing that we noticed...it could be an idea to have a bit more choice regarding spreads for the home baked bread?! ... Local honey (apiaries), local jams (orchards), as well as the usual peanut butter, and marmite ...
We noted nothing else apart from that.
- Zoe (10/5): Superb night away!! - The house was absolutely beautiful! So peaceful & quiet, whole house which was spacious! The owners were so lovely. There was a lovely loaf of fresh bread & cookies which had been hand-made left for us upon arrival (very much enjoyed) as well as milk & butter in fridge + coffee machine. Heating was on for us as it was a chilly winter night outside! House was lovely and warm with a comfortable bed + electric blankets! There was also an extra bed in the lounge area too. Large kitchen with dining table, super comfy couch + TV, board games & free wifi. Pet friendly which was a huge plus, we were able to bring our dog with us. Upon arrival we were greeted by the owners who were lovely & showed us everything/had a great chat & welcomed us in! Definitely will be staying again! We loved it!
- Sara (7/5): Nice place and good location - Location is convenient to Greytown, Martinborough and Carterton The store room in the bed room should at least be covered so is out of sight.
It would be great that we were offered to view or feed the animals 😢
- Vicki (8/5): Great spot - Great location close to Carterton and Greytown but on a farm. Fantastic home baking, thank you!!! Only issue was turning into the driveway at night from the Greytown side. Couldn't see it as no lighting so had to go past and turn around in Carterton.

- Diana (9/5): Soacious, well equipped apartment set amidst farmland - Loved being on the farm and away from the main road. A self-contained, spacious apartment with everything you could possibly want to make a stay comfortable. So appreciated the freshly baked bread and free-range eggs, the fruit and real coffee.
