- cameron (10/5): Such a special place - one we’ll remember - Everything! Loved the whole place. The fires, the bed, the decor, the setting, the quirkiness. Best place I have ever stayed. Also gorgeous walk along the River Almond. Most perfect place to celebrate my retirement. Thank you! Nothing
- Thierry (10/5): - Un hebergement qui vous transporte dans le temps . Magnifique . Le fait de devoir partir ..
- Kristi (10/5): Unique, lavish stay! - Absolutely one of the most unique properties- absolutely gorgeous!! Nothing.
- Lucy (10/5): Amazing - Beautiful Historical interior, amazing hosts, great location
- Julie (10/5): Took my breath away when we first saw both downstairs and upstairs! - This place was awesome, it was like staying in your own castle. The downstairs area was very spacious and decorated like medieval times, very comfy. Upstairs bedroom was like staying in a kings bedroom, the bed was the biggest bed I’ve seen and we have a king bed at home. I would recommend this property to anyone who wants to relax and enjoy themselves, downtown was only 5-6 miles.

- Calum (7/5): - Interior/exterior, stoves etc The shower the did not work. There was only q small amount of logs for the stoves which was just for 1 stove downstairs
- James (10/5): Fabulous building and an excellent place to relax. The log burners were a standout. - Decorated beautifully, everything from the lamps to the coffee cups, clearly no expense spared. The place was very clean, and superbly comfortable. Nothing.

- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional - The property is truly amazing. Decor is spot on for this type property and completes the overall atmosphere this property exudes! It is very close to the airport, but the property itself more than makes up for it.
- Sonja (10/5): Exceptional -
- Matt (10/5): My partner won't return to the same place but for Craigiehall Temple she will make an exception - Craigiehall Temple is a wonderful place to stay. We were absolutely delighted with the accommodation. A great deal of thought has gone into making this a special place to stay. Nothing

- Laura (10/5): Unforgettable stay - couldn’t recommend enough. - This property is so unique but also so impressive.
The host was super helpful with my partner as he was planning to propose to me.
Although the photos are great on the listing, you really need to see the place to appreciate how fantastic it is.
We will definitely be returning, I think the best place I’ve ever stayed. A little out of the way for central Edinbrugh but on the other hand very close to the airport.
Location isn’t really a negative because we managed to get Ubers fine.
- Lucas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lisa (10/5): Never stayed anywhere quite like this before - fabulous - Quirky place to stay, excellent location. Fire is stunning too.
- Gautam (10/5): It’s difficult to describe in words it was like staying in an old world Castle - It was a spectacular property old world charm and Quaint
- Scott (9/5): Lovely unique building, cosy and secluded location. - Unique building, log burners, interior decor. Proximity to the airport so quite noisy at times.
- Amanda (4/5): Disappointed - The property was so nice was excited to be staying in castle for the night When we arrived we got a takeaway to sit at the dining table the property was so cold there was log burners and oil burners but did not heat the property was phoning the numbers given as the central heating would not go on. The host was very rude and not sympathetic that we were cold. We had to go into upstairs room with the two heaters to keep warm so did not get using all the facilities which was a shame as it was beautiful. We eventually got someone after midnight to put central heating on. Also it was heavy snowstorm and in the morning we were stuck in the driveway phoned the host with no answer. When I got home I messaged him to say the road belonging to him should be gritted and the answer I got was he should not he does not control the weather so rude disappointed
- Julieann (10/5): Queen for 2 days ..... - Because I read these reviews before traveling, I booked an extra night at this remarkable property. They sent me this review to fill out for my second booking and I will use it to continue to sing the praises of this unique stay. If you want to feel like royalty, stay here your last nights before flying out of EDI Airport. If you always look up when you hear an airplane engine, this is a little spot of heaven. The property is equipped with a central sound system for those who aren't thrilled with the sound of planes, so no worries about noise pollution intruding upon the peace and tranquility. If you have the soul of a daydreamer .... book this property and you will never regret your choice! I didn't get to light fires in the two fireplaces so a return trip is due to experience that bit of magic! Many thanks to the incredible hosts for making this property available to the hopeless romantics and perpetual daydreamers of the world....
- Julieann (10/5): Camelot and the 94th Aero Squadron combined in one rare and fabulous structure. - This location is just beautiful and the stuff of dreams. I happen to be an airplane enthusiast so the close proximity to EDI Airport was such a thrill. I spent the morning drinking coffee and watching the planes land and take off. For those of us old enough to remember, there was a restaurant chain called the 94th Aero Squadron at the edge of major airports. This is just like that but instead of a bombed out French farm house from WWI, this property is set back in time to 1795. If you stay, you have to do the river walk just across the field from the temple. James, the kind caretaker and resident gave me directions and boots are thoughtfully provided for a magical walk that can only be described and a scene out of a Hobbit film. There is a well worn path running along the river and you will meet towns folk and their lovely dogs enjoying the beauty. To the right of the property you will find the old bridge which is really stunning and still open to foot traffic.
The bed is comfortable, the furnishing are grand and functional and every possible need or want was provided by these excellent hosts. I booked an extra day because of these reviews. Do yourself a favor and book 3 or 4 days!!! Dan and James, I am saving money to come back and spend a week!!! Thank you for a lifetime of memories made in just 2 days!
(For those like us not traveling with a car, the cabs found us without any trouble and responded quickly! ) This property is magnificent and needs no improvement.
- Megan (9/5): Superb - Great oasis in the outskirts of the city, great location. Fun updated castle. Nothing to dislike. Was great place and felt like a real get away to the country
- Saif (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cathey (10/5): See above. - Loved the ambience and location. The property is a lovely opportunity to live like our ancestors in Scotland. But with all the modern conveniences. What a fun place to stay. All great.
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Morij (10/5): Exceptional - It was amazing, really amazing. One day is really not enough for this place at all. It is really a great experience 👌🏽
- Hannah (10/5): A wee hidden gem - We had a beautiful stay at the Craigiehall Temple, great location, the property was a really cool find, different from anywhere we’ve stayed before. Very clean and peaceful and all the essentials provided also. The bed was super comfortable and we had a great nights sleep. Can see the owners have put a lot of effort into making it a great place for their guest’s, we would definitely recommend to others.
- Anita (10/5): We felt like royalty! - What a unique property - we felt like royalty!! The wood burning fireplaces added to the romance. The location to restaurants in Queensferry was perfect! And it was an easy drive to airport in the morning.
- Erica (10/5): Exceptional - Stunning...stay here ....you won,t be disappointed.
- Morgan (10/5): Exceptional - Very peculiar venue, has nice decorations
The bed is super comfy, shower had good pressure One small thing, an hair dryer could have been nice
- Kevin (10/5): Exceptional - Really authentic and great value for money
- Joanne (8/5): Very good - The fire places were a great feature. With no nearby shops it would have been to have some bread and butter to make toast as there was jams.
- Yvonne (10/5): This will be one of my most memorable stays in a dream property. - This is a real statement property, my only issue, I should have booked longer! Absolutely beautiful.
- Amanda (10/5): The most beautiful place I have ever stayed in. - Amazing property. Beautiful, historic building. Gorgeously appointed. Just wonderful.
Very pretty. Some flight noise, but they stop overnight.
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional - Such a unique building

- Steve (10/5): Perfect retreat. - Roxana was a fabulous host and very accommodating. This is a beutiful building and wouldn't hesitate returning.
- Brian (10/5): The perfect escape - The host was fantastic and the property was amazing. It was a fantastic escape and we will definitely return 🥰👌 N/A
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hazel (10/5): A unique experience! - Our host was very welcoming and applied so many thoughtful touches. The property and building was beautiful, the bed was very comfortable. It was a wonderful and unique experience for our last night in Scotland.
- Oyenuga (9/5): An adventurous romantic getaway in an ancient Scottish mini castle - This was an experience staycation for myself & my partner. The temple is tastefully restored & spacious. The exposed stone walls makes it a unique living experience, you won’t find similar in Scotland. There is an automatic gate & lovely drive through to the property, with pristine gardens. There is an adjoining property where the owners live. we didn’t see a soul. The back entrance is nicely presented with various tartans. There’s a lovely fireplace downstairs & in the bedroom. There is more than suitable heating, well thought of by the owners, there’s also remote control fans for the summer months. The furniture is comfortable antic & compliments the aesthetics. The front doors are grand, though a bit of struggle to open, as expected with old houses. The winding staircase to the bedroom upstairs isn’t for heavy suitcases, so pack light. The bedroom is amazing, again lots of detail, with an antic reading table overlooking the beautiful green views. The bathroom behind the bed is modern & spacious, with a power shower. The bed is massive & comfortable, duvet way too heavy, will not be suitable for summer, the rooms are warm enough. If you love pillows, the temple is for you. If you are frightened of little spiders & a few cobwebs, this property isn’t for you, it’s old & with old you expect & should appreciate its nature. There isn’t a TV, the property owners decided to make that decision for you, not so sure about that but ok, we stayed for one night. The Marshall speakers weren’t working on our visit. The softly speaking Co-host who checked us in brought us croissants in the morning, very tasteful, thank you. Though slightly remote, we ordered dinner to the property with no issues, it was great to disconnect for 1 day. There is a nature park just opposite the property to explore. I highly recommend Craigiehall Temple for adventurous short romantic getaways. It was great really but if I had to nitpick, the property would benefit with at least a sink downstairs as there isn’t a kitchen, so not suitable for a long stay or with kids. I would advise to change towels to white instead of red & they weren’t absorbing. No live candles please, people aren’t that sensible.
