Guest Reviews
- Jane (5/5): - I think these little cabins might have been lovely once, but are now past their prime. Guests get a separate sitting room cabin, and that was quite okay. The cooked breakfast was good Our sleeping room smelled damp and was not especially clean.
Grim toilet block. There is a short walk to it from the sleeping cabin, would have been bad in the rain!
The shared shower didn't drain properly and contained the last person's water.
Really not what I expected for the price. Should be priced more like a campsite.
- Manuel (10/5): -
- Josephine (5/5): Cheap, basic but convenient place to stay in a garden shed to town. may not be suitable for lone female travellers - Location, decor, sitting room hut, own toilet Bathroom facilities - shared shower with just a curtain for privacy. Photos were not included of this & nor was there any description of bathroom facilities in the listing. Did not use it (as did not feel comfortable doing so) so don’t know if shower was in full working order. I decided not to stay as did not feel safe being a lone lady staying as the property was not a lodge - it was a garden shed. I am not sure if I saw any heating in the shed so I believe it would have been cold at night. The lock on the door from the inside was very flimsy which added to my unease to stay there.
- judith (10/5): - It is a lovely place to take a rest. Its quite quirky but really enjoyed our stay. Sarah's attention to detail is amazing. Will definitely be going back.
- Hans-Gerd (8/5): -
- Ross (7/5): Quirky accommodation. - Quirky. Sarah was very helpful. Nice breakfast Nothing really.
- MARTIN (8/5): Basic accommodation with good breakfast - Lovely host and breakfast A bit tired - especially the toilet/shower facilities
- John (10/5): Simply perfect - Great location; quirky; very personable host; peaceful.
- simon (10/5): - brilliant evening and Sarah was amazing, loads of food amazing value.
- Jemma (10/5): - I stayed in the shepherds hut and it was lovely and warm, very clean and cosy. Everyone was very helpful and lovely and the added bonus of the private area that acts as a living room was amazing! The breakfast was ready when I woke up and it was also a great selection. Nothing
- Kate (8/5): - I loved the next to nature feel and the sense of adventure about it! It is very back to basics, think camping!
- Leigh (10/5): -
- Lucy (9/5): -
- Jennifer (9/5): - Quiet and unusual Nothing
- Maria (4/5): Very disappointing - We didn't have breakfast It wasn't a good experience
- Erik (8/5): Gracious Host, Convenient Cabin for Hikes - Sarah was a friendly and gracious host. Check-in was very easy and Sarah was quick to answer any questions. The hot breakfast was delicious and sustained me during a day of hiking. The Shepherd's Hut stayed a very comfortable temperature even without the heating. Everything was clean and tidy.
The location is down a quiet residential street, with hiking trails at the end of the road. It is an easy 10 minute walk into Abergavenny town centre. There is a very large school opposite the accommodation, so outside term time driving is easy, but during term time, maybe avoid pick-up and drop off times to avoid traffic. The shower tray is not level, so it does drain, but only up to a point. You'll still have some standing water after use. I have no issue using the squeegee to chase the water into the drain, but others probably won't want to do so.
- deborah (10/5): very relaxing stay in beautiful surroundings. - It was very quirky, which I really liked. The owner was lovely and the decoration of the rooms really pretty and very comfortable. I would definitely recommend to friends. The weather, it rained all day and snowed overnight.....but it was Wales, and we can't control that!. The b&b was so lovely though, very peaceful and it was nice to sit in the sitting room and read my book
- MaggieJL (8/5): - Cosy and unique place to stay! Lovely birdsong in the mornings. Lighting in washroom could have been brighter.
- Georgina (10/5): A new experience - A bit apprehensive at first because I thought I would be in a random field somewhere... As it transpires it is someone's large back of house area.... Really safe, excellent host, within walking distance of Aber and very quirky. Nothing really once I'd adjusted to my surroundings
- peter (10/5): -
- Andy (9/5): Enjoy a quirky experience at Cherryberry Lodges. - I liked the whole set up of having, for the length of my stay, access to three chalets for sleeping, dining/cooking/relaxing and for washing etc. Close to nature too. Sarah was a friendly and helpfulhost who provides a very generous breakfast. The location is very convenient for the town facilities which can be accessed by foot in ten minutes. I have nothing to report. All good.
- Hughes (8/5): -
- Lockyer (6/5): - Host was lovely and breakfast was fab 👌 Didn't look like picture, it is a very nicely painted shed and sadly the other guests were very rude.
- Chris (4/5): Sorry but won't be back. - Bed was reasonably comfortable. Hosts were very friendly and welcoming. Large cooked breakfast but tasted like it had been kept hot for a while before serving. Hut was very insecure. Not having any means of locking the door from the inside was quite disconcerting. The huts are quite old and in urgent need of refurbishment.
- Emma (9/5): -
- Barbara (9/5): -
- Susan (8/5): Waiting for me each evening was a heated room with a lovely comfortable double bed. Perfect 😊. - Lovely Full English breakfast much appreciated and perfect location close to my training venue. Lovely friendly host, I felt welcomed and a valued guest. Nothing all my needs were nicely met
- Samantha (10/5): Sarah was lovely, the hut was cute and warm - Very cute! Nothing it was great
- Mehdi (10/5): - My wife and I had a wonderful stay at this forest cabin. It was incredibly cozy, peaceful, and quiet—the perfect getaway. The breakfast was a delightful surprise and absolutely delicious! The host was very warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home. We will definitely be back this summer. Highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nothing
- Katy (10/5): - Fabulous little place. We were so well looked after. Warm and quiet after a full days walking. Breakfast was fantastic!
- Heath (8/5): -
- Gemma (8/5): Great overnight getaway - Comfortable, clean and tidy, peaceful Bathroom very bad smell. Door lock is broken kept falling off.
- Kay (9/5): Sarah the host was very helpful and friendly. I really enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend the cabins. Great valu - Very quirky and cosy. The cabin was small but very warm and comfortable. Having sole use of a kitchenette /lounge cabin was an unexpected treat. Very well kitted out. And the breakfast was lovely.
- Rebecca (10/5): Great host and great location - Loved it here so much, would definitely use again when visiting Abergavenny All fantastic
- Jacqueline (5/5): -
- Wendy (10/5): - Perfect location, very welcoming owner who cooks a delicious breakfast. As well as a cooked breakfast, a lovely selection of cereal, fruit and pastries too.
Great value, very comfortable as well as quirky and just a short stroll to Abergavenny.
- Mary (8/5): - Lovely place
Lovely lady
Lovely everything 😊😊😊😊
- Laura (10/5): A wholesome welcoming stay - It was so cosy and welcoming 🙂 the communication was great, and the breakfast was incredible 😊
I had the best sleep score I had in months! The room was lovely and warm and the kitchen/lounge was comfortable with everything you need. I was disappointed that I was only there a night and hope that I have another reason to return!
I was only staying briefly because I attended a wedding nearby but I was well looked after in my short stay. When I received a message in the evening offering me a delicious cooked breakfast at my chosen time I was ecstatic and then when I went to bed I realised I didn't a charger so I sent a message to explain that I hoped I didn't oversleep and I received a morning call to make sure I didn't miss breakfast 😊 I would return in a heartbeat! Nothing!
- Rai (7/5): Recommended, value for money. - Quiet and different to usual accommodations. Separate facilities - kitchen and bathroom, needing to walk out of the bedroom to access these areas. Shower room needs to be repaired.
- Wolfe (10/5): - Loved the cabins, thd breakfast was fab and Inloved that when we arrived everything was cosy and warm
- Tara (7/5): - Comfortable WiFi was dodgy
- Frazer (10/5): -

- Devin (10/5): - Breakfast was lovely, everything felt very homely with a nice personal touch. Very peaceful location. Sarah was an amazing host, would definitely recommend.
- Caoimhe (10/5): A lovely stay in a beautiful cabin - My stay at Cherry Berry Lodge was dreamy. The cabins are beautiful and very comfy. Sarah is welcoming, warm and kind and a wonderful host. Breakfast was delicious and there were lots of delicious options offered. I felt very safe and comfortable throughout my stay and would absolutely return again
- Richard (10/5): Amazing - Amazing place
- Gerwyn (10/5): Excellent and very welcoming hospitality - Very tranquil None
- Peter (8/5): Dejligt - Dejligt sted
- Gemma (8/5): - Sarah is the host Very welcoming, friendly, and cooks an amazing full English breakfast. It was lovely to have no TV and wake up to the birds singing. Would 100% recommend for a little night away Maybe some logs provided for fire and Maybe a lamp or more candles in the living space. The bed was very comfy but did have an old person smell
- Thomas (8/5): A little quirky, comfortable and great value place to stay near the town centre. - I chose this accommodation instead of usual hotel as I decided to bring a dog. The set up was good as I had my own living space and all was comfortable. Would stay again. A previous guest had used the frying pan and left it dirty in the oven. Easily missed and no harm done!
- Ollie (9/5): Quirky, fun, good value for money. Great location! - We had a great time staying here. It was quirky and memorable, we really enjoyed it. Sarah was very accommodating and a lovely host. Thank you!
- Howard (10/5): - Such a beautiful lovely place and the owner and family, particularly her son, were possibly the nicest and most helpful people I've ever met, adorable facilities, could be a little tricky in winter when its cold , but other than that, felt so at ease and will definitely have to check out the aforementioned hotels and cottages in Crickhowell that she mentioned! Didn't exactly like taking a shower in December, until it was pointed out to me, that there was additional heating facilities, inside of the chalet !
- Rebecca (7/5): Goo value for money - Toasty little cabin that was welcoming and a fridge, kettle etc in a separate cabin… parking close by, plenty of security lights, enclosed area for the dog, friendly and welcoming staff Was a bit disjointed having one cabin to sleep, one to eat and one to shower/toilet but that was reflected in the price and kind of added to the quirkiness!
- karen (9/5): -
- Lesley (9/5): - Cosy and comfy. Was December and very cold but inside was lovely and warm. Homely feel.
- john (10/5): -
- Clive (8/5): -
- Minsh (9/5): - Private and very comfy, I loved it 😊
- Flett (10/5): - Lively little shed houses, felt like a jungle resort, amazing N/a
- Flett (10/5): - Amazing rooms
- Judith (10/5): Perfect - the host Sarah had pre heated our cabin so it was very warm on our arrival and again at breakfast the cabin was pre heated the facilities are excellent and the breakfast was exceptional will definitely stay again
- Natalie (10/5): Lovely and cosy, slept well and wonderful breakfast - Breakfast was wonderful, plenty to eat in the breakfast and the cooked Breakfast was lovely not greasy at all. Everything was great
- Danielle (8/5): Really cosy and warm. Good location. Fab breakfast - It was cute and the beds were so cosy. Very warm even though they are cabins! Breakfast was incredible and host was so nice, and welcoming The shower room is slightly rough around the edges and you have you go outside to use it. Not a problem for me but it might not work for everyone
- David (8/5): -
- Sarah Jane (8/5): Warm & Cosy Stay - The host went above and beyond. The shed I stayed in was clean. It was very warm and comfortable. The breakfast was fresh and tasty. The shower and bathroom facilities could be upgraded
- Pauline (8/5): - Sarah was very friendly. Breakfast was perfectly served. Quirky accomodation. Great for walkers. Enjoyed my stay.
- Sian (7/5): -
- tanya (9/5): Great stay close to town and walks, nice and warm and cozy - This was a great experience with my teen son … great to have both a sleeping and sitting/ eating area. Lovely generous breakfast. Would stay again. All was good
- Staley (10/5): - Warm and cosy. Friendly staff. great breakfast. good location. quiet nothing
- Jeanette (9/5): - Jättegulligt, lite slitet, men hwlt funktionellt.
- Michael (8/5): A very worthwhile experience. - Cherryberry Lodges were very quaint and whacky! I was looking for somewhere different to stay and I wasn't disappointed. Sarah has made a good effort to provide a very different B&B experience. I would liken staying at Cherryberry Lodges to a cross between Tolkien's The Shire and Carry On Camping! Don't expect luxury but you will get comfort and a sense of living outdoors. I loved the place and will bear it in mind for future reference. A bit tricky if it rains, but you can't help that.
- Henry (8/5): -
- Derek (5/5): - Location.
Owner. Didn't realise had booked a shepherds hut. Thought we had booked a lodge.
Own fault.
- David (8/5): - I liked Sarah the host, she did a great job
- Judith (6/5): An odd option - Convenient but peaceful location.
Warm accomodation rooms ( but not shower and toilet) The toilet and shower shared with the other guests were very basic, like a very basic campsite. They were separate from the accommodation so I had to go outside and across the gravel path in the night. It felt chilly, I couldn't face a shower. There was little privacy with the walls and doors not reaching the ground. The cooking facilities were very basic. The washing up and access to a tap were in a very small shed open on one side, would have got wet if it was raining.
- zofia (10/5): short and sweet - sarah was so lovely making sure i had a good night, and the breakfast was amazing! thank you so much! agreeing with other reviews, could do with some form of upgrade but the way it is now is ok.
- Andrea (8/5): Lovely place, as always! - Lovely host, perfect location, cosy place, nice breakfast Mattress definitely reached the end of its useful life!
- Clare (9/5): A lovely stay with an exceptionally kind host. Superb breakfast 😋 - Quirky & full of character. All good.
- Aaron (9/5): Great, quirky and enjoyable - Quirky and private.
Really friendly host, great adventure. Some areas look a little tired, and could do with a boost!
- Brenda (10/5): Very comfortable stay to explore Abergavenny and area . - Very cozy cabins with a very well stocked private kitchen/lounge cabin. The hostess was welcoming and very helpful with any questions we had. The breakfast provided was superb!! Easy walkable access to town. Also a comfortably walkable distance to Sugar Loaf Mountain. We adored our stay 😊
- Jennifer (10/5): We had a wonderful host and enjoyed rustic lodgings in the beautiful Welsh countryside. - Ideal lodgings for that camping vibe without worrying about unpredictable weather. The little private lounge was a nice spot to relax. Breakfast was fantastic! Such a treat 🫶
- sam (10/5): - The location and easy of check in was great. Sarah was very accommodating and the breakfast was incredibly good.
Super great value for money and I would definitely recommend and stay again.
The room was cosy and comfortable and the separate living area was great to relax in of an evening.
Cannot fault Sarah and the stay!
- Jenny (9/5): Lovely - The atmosphere, the bed and the breakfast. Host was really kind The shower could have been more modern
- Bucknall (8/5): Quirky but clean and comfortable with a great breakfast. -
- Andrew (9/5): -
- Paula (10/5): Quirky but good - Ok, so it is basically a bunch of garden sheds in someone's garden. For the price paid it is exceptionally comfortable and quaint - if quirky in a good way. Excellent value for money and we were really well looked after with a good breakfast. Would highly recommend if you want to stay relatively inexpensively in the area, Nothing - but you would be disappointed if you were expecting something a bit more traditional. Don't book if you want a hotel or somewhere scenic. Do book if you want comfortable inexpensive accommodation in Abergavenny.
- Nick (5/5): -
- mark (8/5): - Sarah is lovely, breakfast was great. The experience wasn't for me being woken by other guests walking past late at night on gravel and doors/gates banging through the night.
- Alvina (3/5): - Location It was not luxury. The toilet facilities were basic. The shower is not drain properly so I stood in someone else's cold water. The cistern lid lifted off the shower when I flushed the toilet. All the breakfast food was from packets. The duvet and pillows were at best functional.
- Donna (8/5): Very cosy and comfy, peaceful and made to feel so welcome with generous breakfasts - Sarah was so welcoming and looked after us very well and made amazing breakfasts, also despite being so close to her home gave us lots of space. We felt very at home! Nitpicking but just to maybe hoover up some of the spiders webs, the location must make this an endless task! Some web in the corners of the bedrooms behind the wardrobe
- Geoff (10/5): - Beautiful quiet location
Lovely room and lounge
Stunning breakfast included
- Penny (1/5): Didn’t stay - Looks nothing like the picture , possibly our fault but didn’t realise we would be expected to share toilet facilities. So disappointed. We left and found a Premier Inn
- Vilija (6/5): - very nice and friendly host, good breakfast... lack of cleanliness
- Sandra (10/5): -
- Sarah (10/5): I felt really safe and comfortable, will def be back when I need a stopover when visiting the area - Breakfast was amazing! So much choice, Loved all of it!
- Linda (9/5): A hiking retreat - The Host was friendly and helpful was just a text message away. She gave me space and was easy to contact during my stay. The breakfast was great there was plenty to choose from. I had my own sleeping hut with a quiet outdoor area of my own outside and a kitchen diner hut to myself with everything I needed to cook and relax including a big comfy sofa. So the best of both worlds a bed and breakfast and self catering. There was also ways to heat the huts. I enjoyed the fire pit and host provided the logs etc it's also in walking distance from Abergavenny.
- Michael (10/5): Gem of a cabin stay - This was a very cute and cozy cabin situation. It's not a luxury hotel, if you're looking for that. But I really loved the cain feel and the peaceful setting. And the host was wonderful and the breakfast delicious! Birds pooped on my car in the drive haha. Nothing to be done there!
- Jarnail (10/5): Great stay - We had a wonderful stay. Sarah was very accommodating. The accommodation was very pleasant. The breakfast was very tasty. Everything was as expected.
