Guest Reviews
- Phill (10/5): -
- Peter (10/5): Fabulous cottage on the banks of Windermere. A walk to the ferry along the shoreline. Beautiful - Fabulous location and perfect for a family stay. Nothing, all good
- Mark (10/5): Perfect house, in perfect location. - Remote location looking over lake Windermere is perfect. Ideal for a complete break in solitude, with all home comforts. Absolutely nothing.
- Marcel (7/5): Misleading pictures. - Lake view. Cleanliness. Accessibility. Kitchen contents (utensils, etc.). I didn't appreciate that pictures were misleading. We were looking at cheaper options, taking into account that we will be travelling to access the lakes. We only decided on this property because it showed immediate access to the lake, which was inaccurate. Also, the swimming pool isn't close. Overall a good place, but essentially we have been lied to, and it really dragged the stay back.
- Ekta (5/5): Misleading pictures and information. Very average property. - The location was amazing. This property is a very old small property. Everything in the property is basic.
The amenities like pool is far and need booking in advance. Our booking was messed once. The electric car charger did not work and was a slow overnight charger.
The nearest Tesla charger was 35 mins one way drive. The one in town was thrice as expensive and 15-20 mins drive.
The pictures indicate an access to the lake. That is misleading.
- James (3/5): Very average and expensive - Looked good on paper Was tired and not looked after. It had a lot of potential but wasn’t well maintained.
- Steve (7/5): Could have been brilliant... - The property is in a lovely, quiet location, just minutes from the Windermere ferry and the views from the rear of the cottage are exceptional. There is lake access within a short walk, (if you are averagely fit and able), via stiles and interesting slate steps. The property is "upside down" to take advantage of the views, bedrooms on the ground floor and living area above. The beds were comfortable and plenty of storage is available. There's a lovely flagged patio overlooking the lake, but we were there during some of the hottest weather on record and no shade was provided, so were unable to take advantage, which was a shame. Grassholme Cottage, could have been brilliant, but it is obviously crying out for a refresh. The walls have seen many a scuff, furniture covers with spill stains (nothing dramatic, but still could do with a good laundering) and most especially the bath sealant. No excuse for that. The shower was pathetic, hardly any power at all. Although the hard surfaces were spotlessly clean and shiny, there was a lot of dust and quite a few dead insects about the place, which was surprising. Like I say could have been brilliant...
- Amanda (10/5): Absolutely loved the view etc and have booked again.just the bathroom needs a good clean - Loved the view and the set up was great The only negative was the bathroom wasn’t quite clean. Lots of cobwebs. Also the bath isn’t draining well and needs some drain cleaner.
- Tunyaporn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cindy (7/5): Good -
- Matt (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing location with stunning views. Everything you need if you want peace and some beautiful walks. Very well managed without any unnecessary intrusion or requirements. Would love to come again
- Emma (10/5): Excellent location, very comfortable, amazing views would highly recommend. - Property was in the perfect location for our trip. The views were amazing and we were spoilt with fantastic weather. Our kitchen was well equipped and maintained, beds very comfortable. It was a little bit tired in places considering the money we had paid for two nights .
- Nick (8/5): Very good - location, directions, ease of access only 2 loo roll
- James (7/5): Lovely cottage with fantastic views - it was perfect for our family of four. There are some honesty huts nearby which se - The cottage was very comfortable and the views of Lake Windermere were fantastic. The bathroom hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly before we arrived which was a bit disappointing. There was a distinct smell of urine around the toilet, hairs and ‘bits’ (best not to think about it too much!) behind the toilet seat where it clearly hadn’t been wiped and mould on the seals around the bath. There are lots of drip/spill marks on the wall around the bin in the kitchen which could have just been cleaned. We didn’t make an issue of it when we were there but hopefully the feedback helps for reference.
- Alexander (10/5): Perfect location and view of the lake - Cosy cottage, perfect for a small family, incredible location.
- Marianne (8/5): Very good - Good location and comfortable.
- Louise (8/5): Amazing! - If was probably one of the best views I've ever seen from a lounge window/patio. The upside down living was fun. Shower pressure. You couldn't appreciate the views directly from the bed and lounge seating.
- Susan (9/5): Great location and comfortable cottage. - Lovely situation with terrace overlooking Lake Windermere. Clean and comfortable
- Paul (10/5): Excellent Lake District base! - We loved the location, the views, the cottage nicely fitted out, tasteful decoration, well appointed. The beds were very firm, not our preference but may suit others. The shower was so low pressured it was ineffective. Need socket near mirrors for the ladies! Hair drying, make up etc! Lack of loo rolls seemed to be a needless cost saving! 1.5 for the week. Wifi didn't work for first 3 days. After that it was insufficient to use Netflix, Prime etc. TV control needs new batteries.
- Paul (9/5): Change of scenery - Location Brilliant, property has all you need for a self catering break. Exceptionally clean property.
- Hannah (9/5): A lovely family break - Homely feel with lovely views
Home from home The shower pressure was not very strong and the house was cold downstairs (which maintenance came and tried to fix and also brought extra heaters)
- Andrii (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leanne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (7/5): Lovely quiet cottage with great views - Lovely cottage with terrace views of the lake off the bedroom Couldn’t access the terrace unless through bedroom which wasn’t really clear in the description. I would also suggest you make it clear that you can’t walk down to the jetty that’s pictured in the photos as appears that’s private. Instructions on how do light the log fire would have helped and perhaps some condiments eg sugar
- Dontmeetmygaze (10/5): Exceptional - We really enjoyed our stay at the Grassholme cottage. The view was absolutely amazing, and the cottage was impeccably clean with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We liked everything.
- Bailey (7/5): A quiet break in the middle of a solitude. - Welcome basket
The view was perfect
Good supply of glasses/crockery. Dirty and smelly bbq had not been left clean by previous occupants.
Only two chairs outside for four adults to enjoy a bbq on the patio.
Freezer needs a defrost.
Bad smell at the top of the stairs that went away during the week.
Could benefit from a nest of tables in the lounge to put cups of tea or wine glasses on.
- Ladislau (10/5): Exceptional -
- Justina (9/5): We had a lovely time and hope we can come back one day. - The location is wonderful. The house is very pleasant. There is some strange noise that goes on at night in the twin bedroom, possibly heating or other pump but it's really noticeable in there.
- Marc (8/5): Very good -
- Katherine (8/5): Very good -
- Ireland (9/5): Superb - Great location in a quiet spot on the banks of Windermere. Very comfortable little cottage, with everything you need for a home from home stay. A great place to discover the Lakes The shower head could do with being larger. It states that there are EV chargers near by but they are about 2 miles away and every time I went one was out of service and the one that worked was in use constantly.
- Emmajw1 (10/5): Great stay , lovely cottage great facilities - Everything.
- Mary (9/5): Superb - Loved location decor, equipment it was amazing
The pool was great the beds were so comfy Wish we had had welcome pack I am useless with IT needed to know where swimming pool was hours farm shop was open etc how to work microwave
Chairs sofas not too comfortable for us oldies bit low
- Kali (6/5): Cozy cottage with lovely views. Could benefit with more family friendly activities like Board games to make the time go - The remote location and how close to the lake it was. The property was described as a home from home but when we got there we didn’t have anything to entertain ourselves with except the tv. There was also no sugar or any seasonings to cook with etc. there was also no cleaning supplies which would help to clean after ourselves in the kitchen. Only dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid. We also had to buy our own kindling for the fireplace as what we were supplied with wasn’t enough to start a fire and we found the fire to die out all the time. Some essential confectionary/ cupboard supplies would have made our stay more reasonable for the price alongside some boards games and some family activities which would truly make it a home from home. We also found ourselves without any walking trails for the Lake District. We travelled from london specifically to hike and walk around the Lake District, due to our busy work schedules we didn’t have time to plan any walks but assumed that the Airbnb would have something planned for their guests as the Lake District is famous for its views and hiking trails.
